AND HOLDS YOU RESPONSIBLE FOR THEIR OWN ERRORS On Friday I got my final payroll check from the State. I went into the local branch to make the deposits to ensure there are no extended hold or hiccups. Before depositing, I asked the staff if there will be any hold on them. He CLEARLY informed me (and I have a witness as my partner was with me) that there will be no withholding and that the funds will be available Monday, 12/30. I logged in on Saturday and noticed that they withheld 90% of my deposits. I called their "LACK OF CUSTOMER SERVICE" number and was told that it would be an easy fix, but I have to wait till Monday because the department that handles state warrants (for payroll) is closed. But a staff can call the state to verify that the funds are good. Monday comes along and I called. This time I was told that after their research, it was determined that it was an error made by the branch. That they should have coded it as an exception and provide explanation that they were state warrants and not as checks. That the ONLY way to fix it would be to call the branch and explain to them. He offered to call the branch and explain to them how to properly code the deposits and asked that I wait on line. He came back and told me that the branch will not be open for another 30 minutes. That he will place good notes on the account, and if I were to call back in 30 minutes, the rep taking the call will be able to assist. I called back after 30 minutes and this time I stayed online with the rep for over 40 minutes waiting for the branch to pick up. So after discussing it with him, he suggested that I go into the branch in person as he is also at loss since no one is picking up the call. Very reluctantly I had to cancel my personal plans and drove to the branch. Got the same run around, "oh you have no appointment so I am going to place you on our list" - I explained to him that his back office tried called them and was placed on hold for over 40 minutes and his response was, "well it is year end and we are busy so no one it taking calls"!!!!! So I had no choice but waited as I needed my funds released to pay my bills. I waited for almost 30 minutes in the lobby, but nothing was happening and so I flagged down a staff and asked. He said, " oh I thought someone was helping you" then scoot back in and about 10 minutes later another rep came out. Took me to the room and gave me the bad news, that he is unable to assist, that the back office gave me bad information as there is no way for them to code any deposits as an exception. I asked why I was told that there would be no hold when I came in on Friday, and all he did was apologize and gave the fake show of concerns that, wished there was something he could have done. That the only way to code an exception is for a manager to do so, but there are no managers at the branch. Then he continued to insult me by explaining that Fidelity is not a bank (duh? like I did not know that , and he kept repeating it even after I informed him that I worked for other investment and brokerage firms in my past, plus I worked as a regulatory compliance consultant and know the difference) In frustration I walked out of the branch. I then called the "LACK OF CUSTOMER SERVICE" number again and tried to file a complaint, and although the rep was all sympathetic and all, he came back ultimately with the same answer. 1) I cannot file a complain unless I write it and 2) he explained why the hold was place. Fidelity as a firm has been hit with so many fraudulent deposits and as a result, management has decided that every customer is BAD. I have been with them for almost 20 years? Why I am being I punished for their prior poor deposit policy? WHY I am I held responsible for inaccurate disclosure by their branch staff? Finally why did it take speaking to 5 DIFFERENT rep before I was told the real reason why there is a 30 day hold on my checks?? WILL CLOSE MY ACCOUNT on 1/22/2025 when hold is off.

I get excited to attend solely because it means a visit to their offices. Their space is designed so well you'd think they're in the creative industry. I recommend that everyone find a reason to stop in their office. Would love to see more outside parties partner with them and use their space. You feel inspired the moment you walk onto the 7th floor. Views aren't half bad either.

So they should get 5 stars for that right? wrong. Their query functions are cumbersome and since 1996, they have expanded into so many other areas (none of which I need or want), that their basic database set has been left to languish. To make matters worse, I am bombarded with emails, snail mails, and some phone calls to get me to buy their other products. I can't "opt out" of the emails because then I won't get my notification telling me when the online updates are available for my database. How lame?! I've called throughout the years to request that they stop soliciting me, but they say "sorry. we can't. All or none." So I will stay with them until someone makes anothe product and will happily say good riddance to this non-customer friendly company as soon as one arrives. Morningstar = Lame.
