They also sell concessions such as hot dogs, popcorn (50 cents), hot cocoa (75 cents), small bag of chips (1 dollar), and noodle soups on those days. Always dress warm b/c at night it gets pretty chilly. Fold able chairs are suggested. Tucked aside on Bay farm the lack of dedicated parking is not a problem except maybe for the…read moreresidents. The play structures are varied, new and a lot of fun for kids 5+. The basketball and volleyball courts and nets are a great. Bathrooms are kept clean and tidy and the 4 large tables and benches benefit from gazebos that brings some shade. The big open field is also great to kick a ball or fly a kite (wind tends to pick up after 3pm). There is a barbecue that can be rented as part of the deal with ARPD.

It'll be so great once they put the rims back up so people can play here again!! They pack a lot into this park!! They have a softball field, 3 tennis courts, a library along with the basketball court. The large grassy area is maintained very well if you just want to kick back here. I usually run past or through this park when I run in this area. This park is located right next to the Harbor Bay Landing shopping center on Bay Farm Island.

I don't live far from there and am not impressed. 1. Do Not…read moredrink from the water fountain because birds do and it's not sanitary. 2. It's the only business I've ever called outside of business hours that does not have an answering machine to allow you to leave them messages. 3. There are many many times when both restrooms are locked even during business hours and there is no one inside either restroom so you'd better be able to 'hold it'. I suspect they keep the restrooms locked to prevent homeless people from using them but they may not be aware that even people who are not homeless need to use restrooms. 4. Feel sorry for anyone who lives within earshot because when children use the swings it produces a loud squeaking sound. 5. There is very little parking available on Buena Vista so many people park in the bus stop and block it, especially on weekday mornings when people drop off their kids here. You should see the look on peoples' faces when they return to their cars and the bus has then blocked THEM in. The APD really needs to ticket the illegally parked cars. Because of such issues I just walk or ride through this park instead of stopping in it for fresh air or to take a break.

I used to see a couple of homeless folks sitting in this area, but I haven't seen them in quite awhile. The playground is enclosed by a low fence. The ground is some foam material, which I prefer to bark. There's a few swings, slides, and various structures. It's suited for ages 1-8 or so. There's a baseball field and a basketball court and a large grassy area. There are a few benches along a path. There's nothing about this park that really stands out, but it's a great neighborhood park for the kids to have fun and get their energy out.

Green lawn in center in good condition. Not going to win any lawn awards but for a public park its very good. This offers space for kicking a ball around or some other informal ball game. Along the perimeter I noticed one white windowless van with one or two parking tickets on it. I only noticed this as my mom never told me not to talk to strangers or be scared of people I didn't know as a little kid - but she advised everybody who would listen to stay away from these kinds of vans. Enough of me sounding like Forest Gump telling you about 'Momma always said...." Weather in Alameda is nice and that is a plus - but the problem is you would never come to this park if you didn't just stumble upon it or live close. No, no, this isn't some destination. Across the street is a new development. I like it because it kept the old brick historical front and it hid well the huge new monstrosity sitting just behind. I heard that developer is huge in the area and owns and collects rent from many hard working locals. Get the kiddos out - they had enough Tic Tok - talk to them. Tell them something - let them know if they listen to all the social media nonsense its message starts to have too much weight in life.

Rittler Park was named after Otto Rittler, the City of Alameda's former  athletic director and…read moresuperintendent of recreation. Rittler Park is the first park created in the Alameda Southshore. Alameda's Southshore is a man-made landfill, which was developed in the 1950s-1960s. In the heart of the Southshore area, are 2 schools, and Rittler Park. It's level ground and there isn't alot of trees. Why? Because Rittler Park is also the multi-purpose sports complex for Lum and Wood schools. I graduated from both those schools. We spent PE classes on Rittler Park. Basketball, soccer, softball, running and volleyball. Later it became the home of Little League baseball. Rittler Park is the park of Southshore.

One car speeds down the road going maybe 20 miles over the speed limit - a few seconds later an old mustang peels out and fishtails around without any control of its direction. From the people speeding down the street - that alone I wouldn't let my cat out in this area - let alone any other human loved one. You would think people would have more respect in areas kids play or go to school but they don't. Dead lawn - tons of it - trash and cars that probably didn't move in months clutter the streets. I hate to hate on some park - and maybe you live nearby and its your jam - but likely this place wouldn't attract anybody who lives more than a block or two away. Your here because its in your back yard or you stumbled on it. To me parks like this are bad enough I would think the city might be better off redeveloping or rethinking the space.
