Top it off with cool staff and a location in a very pleasant corner of Brooklyn and you're on to something very good. As good as it gets? As good as I've seen in the last decade or so. Just the walk to the building from the Carroll Street stop was so cool (old abandoned buildings! The G above the Gowanus!). Now, I don't work here so I can't really give a real review on the recording spaces but the building itself is a relic of American history and its been beautifully redone on the inside. The courtyard where we watched the movie was spacious and had awesome acoustics.

I generally practice drums solo, and I've gotten sick of commuting an hour from central Brooklyn to dirty studios with crappy equipment. Battalion's equipment sounds solid, and the place is easy to access (plus close to Whole Foods, as an added bonus!). I can't wait to come back. My only push would be to have a bell or something at the front desk. No one was there when I arrived last time, and I had to sit and wait for ten minutes, which cut into my practice slot. I've only been once, though, so not sure if this was just bad timing!

I have used the space on 8th Ave for 4 years to hold classes and this is our first time using this…read morespace. I like Oxford Street better for the pricing and the overall feel of the space but it's confusing to get into the building if someone doesn't see you come in and buzz you in right away. I was fine but I had a few students get confused and actually leave. Teenagers aren't always socially confident enough to ask for help if they can't figure something out. The other space is pretty straightforward you get off of the elevator and it's right there. Also the other space has a small waiting area, at Oxford you have to wait outside which isn't conducive to cold weather. I would be more inclined to use this space in the Spring semester. They also have a rear courtyard behind one of the studios that could be fun in Spring.

I've played a dozen shows and seen a dozen more at the stage at King Killer and I have a blast EVERY SINGLE TIME! It is one of the funnest places to play at in the city. To Greg who leaves one star: Come on dude. Shows get cancelled, that's life. I've never had a show cancelled at KK. Actually, KK offered to host a show of mine when another venue cancelled last minute and it saved us. How sweet is that? Also, 2 weeks seems like a pretty fair amount of time to cancel and I'm sure they weren't dicks about it because they seem like pretty nice guys. If you're a musician looking for a rehearsal space definitely look into this place.
