We live in Middleville and had a great experience, past tense, with Dehammer with the installation of our sprinkler system last year (2025). We even had a contract for maintenance with them last year as well. So naturally we called them for Spring start up this year, and no call backs after at least 8 calls into them over a span of 2-1/2 weeks. Once we finally reached someone on call #9 they told us that the no longer service Middleville. All I can say is this is the most disrepectful service I have ever received from someone that we had done business with the year prior, but only to be ghosted by them in the current year with no information whatsoever that they no longer serviced our area. Shame on them for such horrible communications and business practices. read more

Had them out to look at a project on Sept 3, they said they would send a plan and bid a week later... it's been 6 weeks and they won't even return numerous calls. If they were too busy or didn't want to do the project, they should have said that so we could have found someone else. Don't recommend them. read more

It's been a year since we got landscaping services from DeHammer, and we are specially disappointed at the result, but the process was difficult as well. Our home is in a new lot, and they installed the sprinkling system, landscaping and grass (hydro seeding). Terrible work and design. The landscaping was not very well planned. They in fact planted a pine tree too close to the house (see photos). When we asked they said we'll have to change our landscaping in 15 years. That's not something we had requested, but they decided on their own. The metals frames they use to divide the mulch and the grass is very crooked everywhere (see photos). Hydro seeding has had poor results also. They sprayed directly into the clay-y and sandy soil, without doing any treatment, or adding top soil. The ground is bumpy, spotty and still very rocky. We have considered removing all the grass and start from scratch with another contractor. Terrible customer service. The whole process was very poor. They don't communicate very well. They take too long to respond to requests, and let alone to schedule. At one point, we had scheduled a visit, but they didn't show up until 3 weeks later, without even warning us of the delay or the new date. read more

He listened to my concerns and answered all of my questions. Jared took time to ensure every zone and sprinkler head were set perfectly. This company is very rude. I had called and left a vm asking for a phone call back giving me some pricing to have a new lawn put in at the brand new home I just bought. I was told I'd hear back within a couple days. After 4 days I called back to find out why no call and was told I'd been sent an email--which I didn't see because it ended up in my spam. I said again I preferred a phone call since it is much more direct and can get all my questions answered without needing 10 emails back and forth. I still received no phone call. I did reply back to the email Danielle sent me and she emailed back saying they wanted a survey of my lot; which I found odd. Most landscapers just go measure the property and I hadn't ever been given a site survey. I told her in my email also I didn't want Round-up (which is banned in many countries but not here) used on my yard because I prefer a random weed to having my family and little dog exposed to carcinogenic chemicals when playing in my yard. I sent my most recent follow-up email several days ago and never got another reply back or a phone call that I had asked for to begin with. They are rude and unprofessional and unethical. Every ethical landscaper should be aware of environmental issues and offer ALTERNATIVES to putting carcinogenic and toxic chemicals in your soil when installing a new lawn! read more

Mediocre work and terrible communication as they've been impossible to work with on many levels. We went with DeHamer for our lawn and landscaping in our new house. They definitely have the price to beat. Communication has been their biggest downfall. When we needed to do some updating to our landscaping we reached back out to them. When we got the proposal it was almost nothing like what we had originally talked about. Really think the problem lies in their project management department. They don't communicate the actual customer requests to the people doing the work. If you need something simple or cheap, they are good. But be prepared to correct their mistakes. read more

Very disappointing experience with DeHamer. They scheduled an appointment to visit our lot however cancelled an hour before our appointment and first thing they asked was if we were planning to spend at least 4K otherwise they wouldn't be interested. They said they wanted us to send pictures so they didn't have to do a lot evaluation. This felt very unprofessional and made me feel like "just a number." JD H. Just this summer hired Dehamer to complete a good size landscaping overhaul. It included large hedge removal, re-construction of mulch beds, adding paver stones, and adding 8 yards of mulch. The job was perfect. They did exactly what we asked, on time, on budget. They respected our grass as well, placing boards to minimize any damage and cleaning up the finish work. They seem to try hard to do a good job, but I've hired them for two simple projects recently and haven't been happy with their very poor communication or the damage they've done to our property during both projects. They piled rocks in the corner of the property and drove heavy equipment back and forth over the sprinkler head there for two days, breaking it. They also cut an underground cable I warned them about (and why don't they call miss-dig? Is that even legal?). Finally, they asked my wife is she'd like them to do something extra without ever implying that it was extra and sent me an invoice for 40% more than they'd estimated AFTER they'd completed the work. They acknowledged some of these problems, to their credit, but I'm not sure what good that does the customer who is looking for work to be done well and on-budget. I am so disappointed with Dehamer Brothers, we hired them for a landscaping job in our backyard and our job was postponed by weeks without any communication. We would wait for them, no one would show, and when we called, no one answered. When we finally got ahold of someone, they promised to come out that following Monday, and again, didn't show up. A few days later they finally showed up and the job was terrible, only half done and they refused to come out and 'finish' it and refused to cut down the final payment due after already taking 50% payment, prior to even setting a date with us. Honestly, my family feels taken advantage of by them and I just hope we can prevent another family from spending their money on half done work that is a full time job to even schedule. I would not recommend DeHamer Bros. Landscaping to anyone. They were chosen as the contractor for our new construction. After a botched job of excavation, they are not willing to offer any solutions or discuss options to repair the standing water that has accrued in the middle of our backyard. They also did our mulch in the front yard and barely used enough to cover the dirt. I have never been so disappointed in a company. read more
