I originally had WGMB out to add insulation to my attic to stop heat loss. Needless to say that did not stop the heatloss. I had them come out a second time and they added more insulation because I was still losing heat through my roof. The second time did not fix the issue and I've contacted them a third time and after a a prolonged period of time they sent somebody out to look at it. They "found" and area that had no insulation and claimed that is why I am still losing heat through my attic. The issue is that there service tech promised each time it was fixed. Now it is two weeks removed since they came out and I am still not closer to getting my issue resolved. I had an egress window placed 2/2025. The entire staff was very professional, prompt and efficient. Scott and Rodney specifically went above and beyond, demonstrating a high level of integrity, work ethic and communication. Do not allow them to install an egress window. They didn't finish the job, they broke a footling drain tile and tore out my down spout drainage system. You can see from the pictures the results from the first heavy rain. I was told they would fix what they destroyed when they called me to see what they did, they buried the botched mess and left. Eventually we discovered the ripped out downspouts both draining right from the roof to the well. I called when the well started filling up with rain water. When I called the staff was belligerent, rude and got aggressive, angry, and told not to point fingers at them. It took 3 calls to get to the owner Greg, 5 days to come out and I had to hire a water restoration company. Work is still unfinished and the ground is sinking around the mess they left. It will cost as much as the egress window to fix this mess as to install it. This was installed in August/September. It is still unresolved, I paid in good faith and they have not address this. If this could be less than a one star... it would be. They should lose their license for installation of egress windows. Shotty work, shame on them. read more

After an attempted break-in last year when an original basement window was broken we decided it was finally time to replace the last two remaining original windows with glass block. I have no idea why we waited so long. As usual we called WMGB and scheduled a time for an estimate. This appointment took all of ten minutes and then we scheduled an installation for the following week. The installation for two windows took less than 1.5 hours and we have all glass block windows. I'm hoping we will never need WMGB again because they have replaced all the windows we have, but we will gladly recommend them. read more

While they did come back on several occasions to try to correct them, there were way too many well documented mistakes made and too much rework required. This was all very tiring and inconvenient for us to have to deal with. Even after several visits, in the end we had to correct some of the mistakes and poorly done work ourselves. We also found it ridiculous that when they tired of coming back they accused us of not letting them do the work correctly which was absolutely absurd. To make matters worse at one point at least one of their workers failed to disclose damage caused to something that was being installed. Fortunately during my own walk around and inspection I discovered the damage and we worked things out. In addition to the poor quality of the work, it was nearly impossible to get the sales guy to call us back in a timely manner. Never again will we allow them into our home. read more

My experience with this company is very disappointing. The estimator, Dave Robinson, added $360 for lead paint without even testing for lead. He said "all houses built before 1978 have lead paint". This is a lie! Do not believe it! When I pushed the issue, he finally said he will have the installer test for lead. I felt that Dave was trying to scam me, by trying to get more money from people who do not know about testing for lead paint. If WMGB is going to put an extra $360 charge on the estimate they should test for lead when the estimate is done. Even the installer asked me why the estimator didn't test for lead. When I spoke to Dave again, he said the installers do the test. But my installer didn't even know how to use the kit and told me he never did it. Watch these guys! read more

If there's one thing I can't stand, it's contractors who say they will be there at one time, and then don't show up, and don't call to say they won't be able to make it. This is basically not showing up for work and not calling. In most places that's grounds for dismissal. I called and set up an appointment to have an estimator come out and look at my basement windows. The appointment was for between 9:00and 9:30. Around 10:00, I called the company to find out why. I was told they would get through to the estimator and call back. 45 minutes later, estimator calls and tells me he never got the appointment on his calendar. "No one told me about you". Well if they can't handle getting an estimate done, I'm not going to believe they will do the work on time. This is a company I will never hire. read more

I received an estimate from WMGB and very much wanted to give them my business, as a local company to Grand Rapids. I prefer to support local companies. However, it was extremely difficult to get an actual quote from the salesperson. He first sent me a quote for two windows, without visible pricing. I asked him to resend with just the one window I currently/urgently need replaced, less the 10% discount I was offered via email from the company. He sends the quote again, with both windows, no discount applied. I ask him again to send just the one window, less the discount. He never responded to this request. I understand I only need one window replaced -- at this time. But I do have a whole house full of windows I would like to replace in the spring. It's Fall, right now, I just need one window. So we don't service people who aren't buying a house full of windows? I'm not worth your time? I have excellent credit, and I will gladly finance with another company to replace the rest of my windows in the spring. Additionally, when he gave me a quote for two windows. I then mentioned that I had been emailed a coupon. He very suddenly realized he quoted one of the windows incorrectly and the quote went from $1200 to $1700. It was NOT the window that I needed replaced that went up in price, so it didn't seem as shady as it could have. It's just not a good look to redo the quote seconds after someone states they were offered a discount/coupon from the company. It was definitely a major disappointment when they had mostly good reviews before this experience. You should treat all your customers with respect and as though they are buying a house full of windows. Just because I need one window now doesn't mean I won't return to your company to spend more money down the road. It is extremely difficult to find any type of contractor company in the area that isn't garbage. You could try being the good one because customers who are treated well pass the word on. A coworker gave me the name of a different window company he was pleased with, so I am taking my business there now. read more

Spoke to Kirstin first week of October to make my down payment and schedule my appointment for installation. Appointment was today 11/5 8am. I called after 8am and spoke to Kirstin who confirmed my appointment and stated that the window for arrival was 8am-10am. Just after 10am I called and spoke to Arlene. Told her the tech was a no call no show. She said my appointment was this afternoon. I said not possible, I spoke to a rep this morning who confirmed my time. Told her how upset I was and that I wanted a call back after she spoke to the tech. I missed their call. I called back and spoke to Kirstin. I told her to explain to me how this is possible when I just spoke to her this morning and the appointment was made the first week of OCTOBER!!!?? She said that I can believe what I wanted. I told her to educate me as a consumer how this is possible. She then tried to tell me that she did not "refresh" her calendar. LOL Let me get this straight, you want me to believe that you did not "refresh" your calendar from an appointment that you made back in October? What a JOKE! Of course, she started to get sarcastic with me as if I didn't have a right to be upset. I asked to speak to a Manager several times. Told her I refused to speak to her when she wanted to have a sarcastic tone with me because I was refusing to accept her line of crap. I spoke to Arlene and asked her for the Manager's name. She told me Kirstin was the manager. WOW!!!! Clearly this "Manager" is incapable of managing simple tasks..like a calendar. I asked for a refund. I had six basement windows replaced and it was very smooth. The estimator was on time and not pushy at all. He took the time to explain options and answer any questions. The installation went fine and the guy cleaned up after himself. Overall, it was a good and easy experience and my new windows look great. Would definitely recommend them. read more

I cannot say enough how happy we were with the job that WMGB did in replacing 4 of our basement windows. They arrived promptly, worked efficiently, and left the work area cleaner than what it had been. The windows look marvelous and the basement feels warmer already. I also want to mention how flexible they were in working around my schedule and how compassionate the worker was who came to our house. I explained to him that my dog had recently had a surgical procedure and I asked if he would be willing to spend a little time with the dog just so that it could calm down and be okay with work going on in the house. The WMGB worker was so compassionate and made my dog feel comfortable. That meant a lot to me. Finally, the cost for 4 windows came in at just a little over 150 per window, and it was worth every penny. read more

The worksite was left clean and the workmanship was excellent, I intend to work with WMGB with other projects going forward. In March we decided to have glass block installed into our basement windows to be more energy efficient. The guy can out, measured all the windows, gave me a quote and said that the installer would be out on a Monday early in the day because it was going to take all day to do the work. On said day I got up early (read this as a pissed off morning hater) and got on with my day. They guy never showed until 2:30 After starting to work and after after removing one of the basement windows he said they weren't the correct size and couldn't put a window back in the hole he had created. I had thought they could be installed one way and the estimated said they could and the installer said that they couldn't and he was right. He was able to install the one we ordered for the garage and told me I would have to paint the trim. I thought that they had quoted it to be wrapped so it would't need painting. That Friday they again showed up much later in the day than expected and again didn't have the proper fitting windows. It was cold out and I was getting ready to leave for Texas so I told them that I wasn't going to put up with a missing window while I was gone. They then got someone to drive the correct windows down from Grand Rapids meanwhile they took out every basement window leaving them wide open for the stiff breeze to run through the house. At this point I just wanted the window to my studio put in so I could get that back together since I had to move all my glass to have it installed. They proceeded to put every other window in the house saving that one for last with no explanation. The guy then asked why the garage window hadn't been wrapped and I told him what was told me by the other guy. He said they would be back that next week to make it happen. They made 4 appointments to get this done calling way after they were suppose to arrive with reasons why they had not shown up. They have finally shown up and wrapped the window, they sent a color blind guy out to do this with no idea if the color was right or not. I couldn't make this shit up! I went out to check the color before he put it up thankfully and got him on the right track color wise. The windows are now all finished but they left the old window trash all over and I have cement dust on every surface along with chunks of cement that wasn't cleaned up and cement dried into one of my carpets, honestly I can not recommend West Michigan Glass Block to anyone who may be thinking of blocking in basement windows. They are done and they look great but I have wasted more time waiting for these folks than I care to acknowledge. read more

Excellent work from the sales rep. to the schedulers in the office to the installers. Great communication and professionalism on all levels. Each one was pleasant to speak with and well versed in their area of expertise. The installers were friendly and willing to answer questions but diligent in getting their work done. When their work was complete the only sign they had been there was the beautiful glass block windows. Everything inside & outside was completely cleaned up. I originally found WMGB at the Grand Rapids Home & Garden show and set up an appointment for an estimate. The estimator arrived as scheduled and very promptly provided me an estimate. The home show discount was properly credited and I set up an appointment for installation. On the scheduled date, the installation had be postponed due to weather (it ended up raining all day). They promptly rescheduled. I had my windows installed today. The installer arrived right on time and was done in a couple of hours. He did a nice installation job and cleaned up well after himself. I would definitely use WMGB again and recommend them for doing a professional job at a reasonable price. read more
