This spot was near the highway with a large parking lot. The ladies were helpful with explaining…read moredishes and providing sauce options. Well air conditioned restaurant. The mofungo was bit salty for us but still yum and the spicy margarita lacked spice so not my favorite. We came for the spicy cheese balls and tres leches. Bummer these items are no longer served, but I recommend you come for the vibes.

I enjoyed some of the best food of my vacation here!…read more When we entered the restaurant our initial impression was not favorable since there was a large party of maybe ten middle aged men drinking and talking very loudly- we thought maybe this was more of a bar. These men left quickly though and the atmosphere became more like a regular restaurant with just a few other small groups of diners. We were quickly seated and offered drinks. Weirdly there is no wine list but they ask you to choose from wines on a wine rack, who does this? We just opted for the house wine which turned out to be fine. First glass was a little skimpy but our second glass was a generous pour and a great deal for $6 a glass. For apps we had some delicious cod croquetas and spicy cheese balls with guava sauce. OMG the cheese balls were so yummy! I'd go back here just for these. For an entree I had the shrimp piñon and it was amazing- perfect plantain mixed with a generous serving of shrimp (6) and covered in a white sauce. This was one of my favorite meals on the island! Easy parking out front, close to the highway. Service was fine and perfectly bilingual.

When the Churrasco Mofongo ($27.99) finally came out, the portion size was surprisingly small and did not reflect the price at all. For nearly $28, I expected a much more substantial serving and better overall value. What made the experience even more frustrating was that I also ordered four pastelitos at $2.99 each, and those ended up providing more food and better value than the $27.99 Churrasco Mofongo. It's hard to justify paying nearly $28 for an entrée when a few appetizers totaling less than half the price leave you feeling like you received more for your money. To make matters worse, the staff was largely inattentive throughout the visit. It was difficult to get anyone's attention, there were no updates regarding the long wait, and customer service felt like an afterthought, only because the question "Can I have an update on my order" was asked to the staff. A 44-minute wait can be understandable during busy times, but keeping customers informed goes a long way, especially when multiple families sat, ate, and left before receiving the order. Overall, despite the churrasco mofongo tasting really good, between the excessive wait time, the lack of attentiveness from staff, and the disappointing portion size, I left feeling that the meal was not worth the price. I hope management takes a closer look at both the service and the value being provided to customers.

The food was absolutely incredible, without a doubt the most flavorful meal we had all week, and honestly one of the best meals I've had in a very long time. Order the chicken... WOW! Every bite was packed with amazing flavor. The service was truly exceptional. One of our servers, Allen, was so friendly, attentive, and welcoming. He took the time to talk with us & he didn't seem rushed. The teamwork among the staff was amazing to watch. There was a gentleman constantly walking through the dining room clearing plates the moment we were finished, keeping everything spotless without ever interrupting our meal. Everyone worked together so seamlessly, and you could tell they genuinely enjoyed what they do. While we waited for our food--which actually came out super fast for PR--our daughters loved spending time down by the beach area. It was the perfect way to keep them entertained while we relaxed. And the view... photos simply don't do it justice. We had no idea just how breathtaking the setting and ambiance would be until we experienced it in person. If you're in Rincón, La Copa Llena is a must-visit!!

Unlike your typical Puerto Rican restaurants on this island, this restaurant is pretty white washed, so expect to be treated like it's mainland USA and they expect you to treat them the same. Water is not free. They'll bring you fancy water and charge you $5 for it. For food we got the Fish Curry ($32), Orecchiette Pasta ($28), and Tapa Poke ($20). The one dish not worth getting is the Tapa Poke as the portion is essentially bite size and you're paying $20. The others were pretty good, no complaints.

We got caught up in our adventure and didn't think to check the time. We were having too good of a time! We didn't make reservations and planned to have a go with destiny as we explored my grandmother's hometown. Mana's Gastrobar extended a warm welcome to us. We happily received it and the rest is history. Side note: Most Mayaguez restaurants close (hard close (no one is there)) until dinnertime (5 pm or later). Mana's was open until 4 PM and came to our rescue. The staff were really friendly and accommodated us as we scurried in to take our seats. We called the number on Yelp to make sure they were open. The were open and made our trip even better. Mana's menu has creative Puerto Rican cuisine. We ordered tostones for an appetizer and pechua empanada and pechuga salteada as our main dishes. The chicken was cooked and seasoned authentically. The empanada tasted great and to temperature. The restaurant had a young vibe and cool aesthetic. College age customers sat at the bar while we were eating. It made me think about what life is like in Mayaguez at their age. My grandma lived there around that age (how times change and evolve). I would come back regularly for lunch if I lived in Mayaguez. We didn't see the dinner menu or the dinner crowd vibe. It would be fun to mingle with locals and see a bit more of where my grandma is from in this setting. The server knew my mom was not a local but also a "boriua." Her kind and genuine conversation with my mom made the lunch even more authentic. The lunch was great and I'll be back to check out dinner during my next visit. Overall, we were appreciated and not turned away when we were hungry. We spent a great part of the day looking around Mayagüez where my family grew up. It was nice to visit and feel welcomed at Mana's Gastrobar.
