Del mar dog beach is a fun beach right behind the del mar fairgrounds. There were 2 sides, 1 north of the water coming into the inlet, and the south side which has now mostly eroded. The north side is where the large beach is, volleyball nets, lifeguard tower, etc. The beach regularly has dogs playing and frolicking, people swimming, and fisherman trying to catch fish. Definitely a good place to view sunsets, and the fair when it is going on.

Love love love the Delmar dog Beach! First of all, it is absolutely beautiful and it's the perfect setting for both humans and their best friends. I so adore the fact that the San Diego area has dedicated places for dogs to enjoy, run, free and revel in their own happiness. We get to witness this as their best friends and I think it's just a huge blessing watching puppies, big and small. It reminds me of the beauty and kindness that is within the hearts of our canine best friends and it brings out the love that we have in our hearts. The innocence and beauty of the setting and of our best doggy friends. Such Joy!

This has got to be the BEST dog beach we've ever gone to! It's so incredibly clean and beautiful. There's a life guard tower watching over so your pups will be safe as well. The only unfortunate thing is it's not off leash from June-August, so your pups can't run freely which is a bummer. Our girls still had fun though and we will definitely bring them back!

So many people for dog surfing.

Del Mar Dog Beach is pure paradise for pups and their humans. The beach is wide and clean and full of super dog-friendly and mostly responsible humans (you will find some pup droppings periodically, but not that often, thankfully). Dogs of all ages and sizes are welcome, and you will find them running, splashing and chasing toys at all day time hours. The atmosphere is always joyful, and I love that the dog surfing competition comes this way every year. It is also a very popular spot for volleyball practices and competition. I love that the sand is soft, the waves aren't too intimidating, and there's plenty of space in the sand, even on busy weekends. But parking can be very difficult. And while most people are generally respectful and keep an eye on their dogs, it is common to see pups without their families. Pro tips: bring food/snacks, fresh water for you and your pup and plenty of towels. There are no amenities here.

We took our grand-dog to Dog beach for his first ever Cali adventure. He dogged like he was meant to be a beach dog his whole little life. It was the cutest ever! Dog families were very respectful with everyone and every pup and even a couple cats. Everyone was in their best behavior and our first timer wasn't even traumatized, but rather, he awakened the beach dog inside of him!

    Keke enjoying the beach!

Love this beach! We had a great time taking our dog here. Parking is available along the street. It's always clean.

Wonderful experience on this beach. Easy to get to and just a great setting. Just be aware that you pay for parking.

First time at this dog beach. We walked as parking can be tricky. Teddy had so much fun playing with the other doggos and the water. It wasn't overly crowded which I prefer. Will come back!

It's pretty and scenic with calm spots without waves for those first introducing dogs to the ocean. However, there's also a bunch of rich pricks with their untrained doodles here, beware if you ask them politely to recall their dog because they have a superiority complex.

VERY dog friendly beach! It was so much fun bringing our puppy to her first beach and swimming in the ocean. The beach was also very clean and easy to access.

I love this place! Always clean and most dogs are well behaved. Off leash dog beach with lots of happy dogs running around but busy road is right there so please watch your dogs and drive carefully when in the area. Have seen a dog or two dart right into traffic. There are porta potties, a water fountain at the entrance, tennis ball lending tub, and a water basin to wash the paws. We used to have to check in advance and go when the tide is low. When the tide is high, everyone is limited to a small stretch of beach. But they added tons of sand to the beach and now you can go any day. Great place to catch the sunset.

Love the beach!!! But be warned, dogs are not allowed off leash during the summer, which is I'm honest, is reasonable. Great scenic spot.

My dogs love to run around and when the tide is low they climb all over the exposed rocks.

We came here seeking the suspension bridges and the butterfly garden. The park did not disappoint. Within a couple hours of hiking, we got to see both bridges, a beautiful outlook tower of Encinitas and beyond, as well as the sweet little butterfly garden next to 2 duck ponds. Although we chose to park on the neighborhood streets outside the park, there's plenty of parking inside the park ($5 day fee). There are a couple points of entrances. The lower entrance is nearest the recreational area that has a full basketball, volleyball, and pickleball court. All in all, I would highly recommend this place for a family outing, a hiking adventure, or simply a few hours of relaxing escape away from urban life.

Today we walked a whole loop (my daughter, her college friend, and I to get some exercise before going out to brunch. We admired the view from the Osuna Overlook, walked past workers weeding and trimming the new garden area between the upper and lower parks up top with river rock bordered paths. Looks super nice! My daughter commented that they ought to let local youth paint the rocks--that'd be a cool community event! We proceeded down the paved street that passes by the Scout House, crossed over by the pollinator garden where a kind person pointed out the bat house they placed there (I learned bats are good pollinators and that they need to be protected from raccoons!) Onward to the butterfly garden where I saw a monarch butterfly! We continued to the duck pond at the lowest part of the park where there are picnic areas to be reserved for birthday parties and picnics. We saw a pair of mallard ducks and a solo heron. Spring has sprung! Everything is blooming and the wild creatures are atwitter. Truly a marvelous community park. They even host an annual half marathon here. My brother-in-law and I ran it together in 2012 and it was challenging! Perhaps the biggest challenge being the walk uphill after the race to get to the beer garden lol. I think we ended up not going there and just walking home. Anyway, if you're in the area, check it out! There are several different hiking trails and lots of flora and fauna to admire.
