My son has learned so much from her and now that he's started TK, I realize just how prepared my son is thanks to everything Lola has taught him. She let us know each day how his day went and provided really great insight on his development throughout the years (eating habits, sleeping, potty training, etc.). She also provides nutritious lunches and snacks for the kids and is really in tune with their needs and personalities. Finding Lola and Del Norte Childcare was a huge stroke of luck for us. My two kids went there for about 3 years until they started TK. Since then, my son has repeatedly asked if we could invite Lola over to our house or have play dates with her in the park. We loved that we could drop them off with ease of mind knowing they would be fed and well-cared for. When we moved to the east bay, we needed a day care for going back to the office for work for the first time for our 2 year old who was born during Covid. Our little girl misses Lola even though she left Lola's daycare over two months ago. She was at Lola's for two years and is now at preschool. Lola showered her with love, taught her to count from 1-20 in English and Spanish, taught her ABCs, many Spanish words, and so many other things, including table manners. Lola provided daily updates on our kiddo's day, including basics like food and sleep and detailed information about behavior. Lola also makes the best Spanish rice I have ever tasted. Lola is a professional, kind, and experienced childcare provider and teacher to the many children who have been under her care. Our daughter started a Del Norte Daycare when she was a year old and stayed until she was almost 5. During our daughter's time at Del Norte Daycare, Lola was supported by 2 additional teachers, Julia and Mariana. Our appreciation for these woman is far-reaching. Our daughter learned and developed at such an impressive pace under their care. She was coming home singing Spanish songs at 2, writing her name at 3, and now she can write the full alphabet (upper and lowercase) and is working at a kindergarten level in her reading and math books. Lola also does a great job of staying on top of the latest curriculum by attending conferences and by keeping the content and toys interesting for all of the kids. Also, the cleanliness of Del Norte Daycare is always SO impressive. We always are amazed to see how neat and tidy the teachers manage to keep the space while also caring for up to 12 kids at a time. My boys were at Del Norte Child Care since my first was about 7 months old. As a first time mom it was challenging finding the right fit but Lola was finally it after trying 2 different providers. He is now 2.5 and has learned SO much and it's such a treat to hear the Spanish he knows as well. My second was there from about 6 months to 1 year. One thing that impressed me was how Lola continually made improvements to both the space and how things were run. She is incredibly nurturing, calm, and patient. We recently left as we have an impending move back to our home state. My boys miss them and talk about Lola, Mariana, and "school" all the time. Our daughter went here for two years. It was a fantastic experience. I always felt she was safe and nurtured. The teachers have the perfect temperament for what they do which is so important. It's a small, tight knit environment run (at least when we were there) by just two people. So keep in mind that they need vacation and rest like everyone else; make sure you know the rules and schedule. But each child gets a lot of attention and personal connection, which is wonderful. We eventually moved on to a Montessori preschool when our child was older, but we miss everyone at Del Norte very much. Highly recommended! read more

Hi all! Dolores ('Lola' to the little ones) is a great daycare provider. Our 2-year-old daughter has been going to Lola full time for over a year and has loved it. Because it is home-based daycare without a large number of children, I feel my daughter gets the one-on-one attention she needs, while still interacting & playing with a few other children. For me, the most important thing for daycare is that the caregiver is warm and loving, which I feel Lola is - the kids will play then run up to Lola for a hug, etc. Also, we have noticed that our daughter has learned many new words since going to Lola's, as well as good manners. The backyard is equipped for playtime, there is a park very close by, and the kids dance and sing as well. In all, I feel my child is safe, happy and learning in this environment. read more

Lola created helpful Parent's Info board with a curriculum of infant/toddler activities and a menu for the current week. I was excited to have my son start at Del Norte Child Care. I waited for an opening for over 3 months after giving a deposit and signing paperwork to hold my spot. I checked in with Lola each month to ensure everything was on track. The very first day that I went to pick up my son, Lola tells me she can't take care of him anymore due to one of her clients deciding not to leave after all at the last moment. Given how difficult it is to secure childcare in the bay area, I was in a near panic. I had given our previous daycare 1 month's notice of our departure, as per our contract, and I did not have any backups. The care my son received for the short time he was able to stay was fine. However, I have a hard time trusting someone who goes back on the signed contract and deposit with zero notice. It's simply unprofessional and not how I would run a business. There is a very special place in my heart for Lola. Our daughter started at Del Norte Childcare when she was 4 months old, and continued there until she went to preschool. My daughter was with Lola for the last two years. It was wonderful! The only reason we left is because she needs to go to big girl school now. The award Lola received from Contra Costa is well deserved. Everyday when I would bring in our daughter she would run ahead and give Lola a hug. All the other little kiddos would say hi. They were obviously happy to be there and to see each other. I love that Lola had breakfast for the kiddos. It made busy work mornings so much easier. Our kiddo liked the food and would eat well while at school. I also love that Lola is good about teaching the kiddos Spanish. My partners first language is Spanish but I am still learning. My daughter went to Lola's from about out five months to two years. She was always very well taken care of, and I have experience with two other in-home daycares so I have room for comparison. My daughter always had a clean diaper when I picked her up, and ran smiling to Lola every morning. And although the indoor space isn't the largest out there, it's clean, well maintained, bright, and cheerful with plenty of toys. And the outdoor space is very large, also with lots of toys, and the kids spent a lot of time out there. And what was great was Lola fed the kids breakfast and lunch everyday! Talk about taking a load off by not having to provide meals. The first time I met Lola I felt very comfortable. It was just a feeling. She has a calming presence with the kids, and always had the situation whatever is was under control. Now, whenever we drive by her house, my daughter always says "Bye Bye Lola!!" We would recommend her without reservation. And an added bonus was my daughter learned a ton of Spanish because that is what Lola and her staff speak to the kids.
