Got home with our goods and were both happy with our fresh and delicious food. I really enjoyed my flavorful steak quesadilla that was loaded with steak, and hubby enjoyed his bowl which he said has a delicious cilantro sauce. About the same price as chipotle but local. We will be back !

It seems like everything costs extra--shrimp, queso, onions, and more. Normally I wouldn't mind paying extra if the portions matched the price, but they don't. I paid for onions and was given a tiny portion. When I politely asked for a little more, I was told I would have to pay again. That felt ridiculous. She actually said "Welcome to the real world nothing is free" after giving me the smaller onion when they had plenty of extra. On top of that, the customer service was disappointing. Instead of feeling appreciated as a paying customer, I felt like I was being treated as an inconvenience. The attitude from staff came across as rude and dismissive, which made the situation even more frustrating. My friend payed for his food with Apple Cash and the system took the money then the employee told me it hadn't gone through. When the money on my friend's end was gone. This being the systems fault we were told they couldn't do anything about it leading to us paying once again for the over priced meal. Prices continue to go up, portions seem to get smaller, and customer service has gone downhill. I don't mind paying for quality food, but I do expect fair portions and respectful treatment. Unfortunately, that's not what I experienced here.

Arriving around 4:30 PM was the perfect move, the restaurant wasn't crowded at all, and we were seated right away. Our server was incredibly nice and attentive, and in a cool twist, my boyfriend realized it was the exact same server he remembered from his high school days coming here after soccer practice. The Warm-Up: We kicked things off with some classic chips and salsa. The chips were serving perfection, soooo warm and seasoned with just the right amount of salt to keep you reaching for more. The Main Event: For my entree, I ordered the shrimp enchiladas, which came paired with traditional rice and beans. My boyfriend stuck to his classic and ordered the chicken burrito he has been getting for years. The Flavor Profile: My enchiladas were incredible; the green sauce was creamy, heavenly, and tied the whole plate together. The meal definitely hit the spot. As for the boyfriend's burrito? He confirmed it was exactly how he remembered it. Needless to say, we absolutely smashed the food. The Verdict: This place completely lived up to the years of hype. Between the fast service, the nostalgic hospitality, and the excellent food, it's the ultimate spot for a comforting meal.

It is like a bit of old Mexico and we love it. Parking is super easy and the prices are very fair. Now, it can get crowded and I think they take reservations, but call them to make sure. We had about a 15 minute wait without reservations so it was not bad. We have been twice. The last time we came we got take out to go back to our hotel. We love the service. Everyone is so nice and they are fast. You will get help with the menu if you need it. We love all their food. Their rice and beans are exceptional. And they have a Happy Hour shrimp with fries that is great. I am not sure of the times. We have not done that in a while. Try their pork belly tacos. You can't get those everywhere and they are just amazing.

On several occasions, when ordering a salad, the amount of meat and toppings added has been extremely small, leaving the portion feeling incomplete for the price. What has been frustrating is the inconsistency. There is an older gentleman who works there who always prepares the salads generously and makes them look like the portions customers expect. When he serves me, the salad is full and satisfying. However, other employees, particularly one younger employee, seem to add much smaller portions, especially when it comes to the meat. I understand portions need to be controlled, but the difference between employees is noticeable and makes the experience inconsistent. I love Cafe Rio and would continue recommending it, but I hope management can address the portion inconsistency so customers receive the same quality and value regardless of who prepares their order.

The staff is very nice. I have formed a bond with Maria who gives me a radiant smile when she sees me. I always order three vegetables tacos to go and two California burritos (also known as San Diego-style burritos) for my spouse and teen. The food is fresh and delicious. The staff does not skimp on the portion sizes. There are sufficient tables and chairs and everything looks tidy. The location is easy to bypass (in or behind a gas station and car wash) and very unassuming. But to me, a foodie who digs dives and hole-in-the-walls for the authentic connection, this place is oro.

I couldn't really taste the difference between the Paloma and the margarita ‍. The place is decorated really nice but what they should've focused on was making agood food. I'm so glad I only ordered appetizers because had I ordered food I would've wasted so much money. Birria tacos simply taste like red beef tacos, no real authentic flavor. Shrimp skewers I was told was okay but even that had more veggies than actual shrimps. The rice wasn't cooked all the way. The presentation on nachos was excellent but the nachos were gross. No flavor in guacamole. Beans were plain beans bland af. The chicken wasn't seasoned and had an awful charbroiled taste, just awful! The salsa weren't spicy or tasty. I can only recommend this place for a good happy hour spot because prices are outrageous for drinks. Once again they should've focused on the food than the decor.
