It's a nice lake where dogs are allowed to swim. There are beach-like access to the lake around .5 mile past the docks on the hiking trail. After play, you can "rinse" at the docks before getting into the car. This is the place we go whenever sf beaches are too cold. The only bad i can think of are the foxtails on the sides of the hiking trail.

On a bright Wednesday afternoon, my partner and I decided to go on a hike, and where better than the beautiful Del Valle. When you arrive, you get to a large staging area that has plenty of parking as well as a bathroom on site. Then the trail starts right up and though it is a little steep, the view you get is fantastic. Once you make it over the ridge, you are able to look out onto the lake and see the rolling green hills. Around this time of the year it wasn't as green as I expected, but still a really beautiful place and though the wind can be very strong, I wouldn't be too afraid of it.

Beautiful lake! Lots of parking and picnic areas! We got here just before it got really busy. We were here for a day hike. Trail is easy but lots of bees and watch out for snakes! Definitely coming back for a family picnic.

This was my first time here and did the East shore Trail to Lake Del Valle. This was a very populated trail, but it was a Saturday and a nice day. There were people hiking walking dogs and bike riders all on the trail. My dog and I did 4.3 miles. It does have a steep incline in the beginning and then you get into the rolling Hills, which is just kind of up and down. Because this was so populated I don't know if I would go back, but if I lived closer. I could see where this would be a go two day hike. The parking lot is not big. It does fill up. There is street parking, but the road is very narrow so be careful. I ended up parking about a quarter of a mile down the road.

    $10 parking, this is crazy

$10 parking/enter fee this is crazy. The lake view is just mediocre, some of the trails are not well maintained. There are other places better than this. No phone service, this is so bad, if you lost and missed the latest update from your friends, you will have to pray hard for them to get hold of you in the park.

On a summer day where it's was so hot everywhere. We decided to come to this place to take a swim and to cool down. It's located in Livermore, CA. Parking is only $10 for the day pass per car and I believe depending on the size of the vehicle the price changes, only by a few dollars. They also have a camping ground so you can come with your family to came out by the water. They allow boats and jet skis on the lake. Overall I really enjoyed my time here and wouldn't mind coming back to this place.

Epic mountain biking options with amazing views. Really happy that we have this as an option in the East Bay. $6 for parking No real solid cell service plentiful bathrooms

The fish are here for sure

The fish are here for sure. Never seen so many large fish jumping in a lake. The fish were literally swimming away from the shoreline as I walked by. This one was about 18 inches.

This place is always beautiful and in recent times has been less crowded which I love!!! The fishin continues and the car entry fee is now $6 from $5 few years ago! This spot has so much to do with kids and so many open picnic tables and grills. It's absolutely gorgeous in spring and fall. Quick drive from Tri Valley!

I didn't snap a million photos as it's nice to just live in the moment sometimes, especially at such a peaceful and scenic park. The water has a nice blue tint to it. Entry is $6 to park and there's a full hiking loop that goes around the reservoir. I avoided the crowded main beach and marina area as it was very busy over the weekend. A 10-minute stroll east of the marina will provide you with beautiful views and a private spot along the water to relax. There's plenty of shade to be found along the shoreline, so it's easy to escape the summer heat with a nice book in hand. The water temperature was much warmer than any mountain lake, yet still cold enough to be refreshing. If you're into paddleboarding or kayaking, this is a great spot for it. They also rent motorboats. We're truly spoiled in the Bay Area with parks.

I can not begin to describe the serenity I felt in this park. It's currently screaming FALL. Still plenty of wildlife around including dear and a variety if birds. I went on a easy flat walking trail that is a 14mile total out and back (7miles each way). You basically can walk as far as you want. This is a paid park, plenty of parking, walking trails, and picnic areas. There are also boat rentals available, however the last rental I believe is at 1:30pm.

    Our camp site #138 & 139

We camped here this past weekend and it was a great stay. Very clean campground with great clean bathrooms and showers with hot water. They even have a small store for a few things you might've forgotten to bring like stuff to make s'mores drinks and icee's The lake was also very nice, water was perfect! Great camping experience for us being that this was are 1st time at this location. I gave it a 10+. FYI there's no service at all. There's pay phones to call out (bring quarters) this is a great way to spend quality time with family and put phones and internet away

Ask the Community - Del Valle Regional Park

What are the best campsite? View, privacy etc.

Are the fish good to eat?

Yes. As long as you clean it well and don't eat the guts, you'll be okay. Toxic algae is present in the lake though.

    Is it open?

Yes. Most campsites are available, but the cabins are closed.

Is the swimming area close due to covid?

Yes, swimming is closed as of 01/24/2021. Updates here: https://www.ebparks.org/parks/del_valle/

How many tents can fit in one campsite?

I’ve seen people with up to 3-4 tents, when I went camping we went camping with family and they had 3 tents in their area and 2 in ours, the staff never said anything

How far is the campgrounds from the lake swimming area?

It's is good 15 min walk or less depending on how fast you walk, if your taking things to the beach you should use your car. Bikes do make the trip easier and if your going near afternoon bring lights

I see that only two cars are allowed per campsite. Is there additional parking elsewhere nearby?

Only two, the not way for more is reserving another site

Are there bbq grill to make a small bbq?

There are grills in steel fire pits at designated picnic and campsites. However, fires are restricted, even in the grills, during high fire danger periods. Del Valle strictly enforces the restrictions because the risk is very real. So don't even… Read more

Can we reserve a spot here?

Has anyone camped or kayaked here recently? How's the weather and how green are the hills? Would you recommend going over Memorial Day weekend?

I would not recommend going on major holiday weekends or on the holidays themselves. The park gets overcrowded and fills up fast. Memorial day usually fills up between 10:30-12 so you would need to plan on being there EARLY. Waiting in line to get… Read more

Do we need to reserve picnic sites at all? Or is it all first come first serve?

There are some reservables and some first come first serve. Depending on your group size it may be easier to reserve. If you are doing first come first serve, you need one person per table to hold the tables.

Is it safe to swim at the north region of the lake, where it "swim at your own risk"?

If you know how to swim, yes! Don't expect it to be like the beach though, there may be sudden drop offs in depth. Would definitely recommend having PFDs on hand as there will be no one around to rescue you should something happen or should you get… Read more

Hey how s it going everyone, I was wondering how the trails for biking ? I've been doing a lot of mtb and it'll be my first time here for biking. Are they good for an intense fast paced ride or more flat and mellow?

It's mostly hills which can be a bit technical. Other than that it is an awesome ride!

    Is there kayaking rentals?

Yes, there is a separate facility from the marina that rents kayaks and paddle boards next to the swim beach on the east side.

Have you or anyone you know camped here at the end of October? How is the weather?

I would definitely still plan the trip. You'll get a Fall camping trip. You can still expect 75-85 degree weather during the day, and chilly at night!

The great thing about DSF is that they provide all the gear necessary for your catch. We were going out for Tuna as Bluefin are now found in the waters off the west coast, we were all pretty excited to go fishing. All we brought with us was food and drinks, having everything else included was a bonus. In the event we caught anything, they'll cut, clean, gill and give us fillets. The boat ride was awesome, no one got seasick thank goodness, there's ample seating inside and out. It was super foggy in the early morning, but cleared up by the time we started. I've not been on a fishing boat prior to this trip, and I was blown away at how scenic and beautiful the water was out there. The bright sunshine gave the water a super bright blue appearance, it was cool. Captain Kyle and his deckhand got everyone rigged up and ready to fish. The Captain is youthful and took his time answering questions and giving advice. His mixture of humor and knowledge of where the fish were was certainly a bonus because as soon as lines were in the water we heard, " Fish On!" That first Tuna took everyone on board including my son Parker to reel it in ( Posted Picture). What a freaking rush. It was exciting watching as everyone reeled something in on the boat. We laughed, joked and had such a fun day out on the water with friends. On our way back in to harbor the Captain pointed out several whale pods swimming around the boat, it was a trip seeing them jump. We enjoyed our lunch and talked about who caught the biggest tuna. In all honesty, that first one was the biggest in my book. I can't say enough great things about Captain Kyle and his Diamond Sport Fishing. Reservations were easy as charters go out practically daily either 1/2 or full days. The waters off of California are changing, getting warmer, they're seeing Bluefin Tuna and Marlin so who knows, maybe our next trip we'll catch something epic! Overall Impression: A+

Around sunset on a Monday there were still lots of people sitting on the benches, walking, biking, jogging, and roller blading. Felt pretty safe, but when the sun sets there's not many walkway/street lamps so keep that in mind. Lots of Canadian geese and we got to see their awkward teenage goslings. There's some ducks and we got to see what looked like cormorant and I think a small heron. We also got to see small song birds and some robins too. It's neat that they have bird houses on some of the trees too and we got to see some ground squirrels. I think the prehistoric themed playground is super nice too. I LOVE themed things so the little saber tooth structure from the distance was quite nice. Along the lake are some "work out equipment" like a pull up bar and parallel bars. Lots of bird turds, so be wary of where you walk, but other than that. A solid park.
