I didn't know this area is called Annabel Lake! My husband and I walk around the lake, about a mile around with our doggos. It's got dog poop stations, facts about the lake, lots of places to sit and relax and there's a coffee shop open on the weekdays. We usually park near the Target, Super Duper Burgers and then just walk over. It's a nice relaxing stroll. read more

What a pleasant place to be after hanging out at the mall across the street. This was a quiet very peaceful Park with a lake. It is behind an office building. You can easily come here to have a quiet picnic. We walked around and it was actually a pretty big lake area. Probably about 20 minutes to 30 minutes walk. There were a lot of small gray color fish in the water and they would chase us as we walked around. A charming place to get away from the bustle and hustle of the mall across the street where we just had a nice udon lunch. read more

What an incredibly beautiful hidden gem in the heart of San Ramon. I use to work in one of the buildings in Bishop Ranch ages ago, but never knew this lake existed. Mostly hidden from view when driving by on the roads, this spot still seems frequently visited by the locals who jog through here, or just relax in one of the various seats and lounges chairs placed in designated areas around the lake. The lake itself is quite beautiful and well maintained. The water is pretty clear, and supposedly full of fish. Although I unfortunately did not see any during my visit. There are also a diverse variety of birds that frequent here, and we got to see storks, geese, and a variety of different duck species. There are also a bocce and volleyball court here, which we witnessed a family gathering utilizing during our visit. To get here, park at the lot with EV chargers near Target, and walk through to the back to cross Bishop Dr. You'll find the entrance to this little private park right across from Marriott. read more

The boats are back! My girlfriends and I had a blast getting a Lake tour in their powered boat at no cost. You just have to fill out an online waiver using the provided QR code. Kevin, our guide, was so accommodating and nice. There are also row boats you can borrow for free. (They haven't been back since Covid). I usually get seasick in boats but as this is a man made lake there were no waves, I was just fine. Perfect weather conditions and a lot of fun! read more

Went running at this beautiful man-made lake in San Ramon this past weekend. It's hidden by trees, so you can park at the Target parking lot then walk your way over by following google maps. It's a little less than a mile around the lake, and a combination of dirt and concrete pathways, plenty of trees, and a lot of seating options... some even on little piers stretching into the water. It's adjacent to businesses (I saw signs for Sunset Development Company, Roundhouse, Conference Center, and Market), but everything was closed/deserted on a Sunday afternoon, visitors free to enjoy the trail, the views, relax in beach chairs surrounding the lake or the many tables and seating along the border, even a second level of seats upstairs. I also saw a couple small grassy areas with people picnicking, and a volleyball net set up at one of the corners of the lake. It was so peaceful, and so beautiful, with plenty of cute secluded spots to bring and enjoy lunch or just spend quality time with loved ones. read more

I feel like this is almost like a hidden gem in San Ramon. My family loves walking here on the weekends or whenever we get the chance. It's conveniently located across from the Target/City Center Bishop Ranch. There's several outsides entrances. During the day time, the office park doors are open so it is also an option to park at the business park and walk through their doors but most of the time, we are able to park at City Center or Target and walk across the street to this lake. This is a well maintained area too! The trash cans are cleaned, there's poop bags for dogs and the scenery/trees/bushes/plants are well upkeep. I have even seen people take family photos here. There's a volleyball field and there's lot of places to just sit and relax too. We really love walking with the family and our dog here. There are also a lot of other dog walkers and runners and other people enjoying this scenery. I am glad we stumbled across this and realized it is open to the public for us to enjoy. Hidden gem in the city of San Ramon. It's kind hard to find this place unless you live in the area. People take nice walks here. It is surrounded by business buildings. It's peaceful here and the even have small cafes you can hangout. I'm thinking those cafes might be close on weekends though. The water is maintained well. This lake is a beautiful open space across the street from the San Ramon Marriott. Beyond the just slightly under a mile walk and all the cranes, fish, and other wildlife, there are two local restaurants with very reasonably priced meals available and plenty of seating. This lake was one of the biggest reasons we ended up staying in this area for so long as it was usually quiet and tended to be a really great lunchtime walk. I will say however, that your pants and shoes might get a bit dusty! read more

Located right across Target, this is such a nice hidden gem to get some exercise and fresh air! We stumbled upon this place after I was made aware of it for a play date and it's lovely to picnic in, walk the dog, and enjoy the open space. There are bocce ball courts, a little dock, and tables and benches sprinkled throughout the trail. There are little fact sheets on the trail as well to inform the kiddos, though I believe most of the trail is made of little pebbles, so I probably would only bring older kiddos rather than those requiring a stroller. I guess you can rent boats and cruise the Lake under "non-Covid" times, but that is closed temporarily for the time being. Still, a very enjoyable walk and great way to get outside during quarantine. read more

This was a gem of a find! It's right across from the Bishop Ranch shops. We walked into the gate and it was like being transported to another place. The area is surrounded by some businesses and some buildings that do not look occupied. The walk around the lake is really peaceful and it's a really nice loop to take a stroll. There are different areas that you can take a seat and just enjoy the water. The path is mixed with a dirt road and paved areas. I took a stroll on a hot summer day, but the lake provided a great breeze that cooled the heat. There are docked areas around the lake that provide seating and a place to have a food break or to just sit and relax. Highly recommend exploring this great place! read more

Great spot for San Ramon locals to hang out! This little lake was man made so it's shallow for a lake. Nice place to sit is the dock. A nice little jog during lunch time which is probably less than 10-15 minutes around the lake. Pick up a latte or espresso nearby halfway around the lake if you're coming from The Shops at Bishop Ranch. There's also a nice beach volleyball court. Okay, not technically a beach but it has sand. I've been walking or running here several times and it's never crowded, but I have no idea why. This man-made lake trail is well manicured and absolutely serene. The benches and scenery are all creative, the lake is full of schools of small fish, and the greenery all looks healthy. A volleyball court is available behind a large seating area, and there's a small dock with 3 padded chairs for just realizing with your spouse or a couple friends. read more

I work in one of the office buildings that surrounds this beautiful little gem. My favorite thing is to sit at the dock and eat my lunch and answer emails or take longer conference calls on the days where the weather isn't too brutal.. Its not only a gorgeous respite from the crazy workday, but also a gem of a place to walk and get some exercise every day of the week. I've walked this path during all kinds of work hours and on the weekend and its never ever crowded, and the scenery is truly unique. If you're not familiar with Bishop ranch finding it can be a bit tough to find. If You're looking for it, you can park in the parking lot of 3001 Bishop drive and go through the backdoor and you'll be at the boat dock (among other ways to get it, but since thats the building I work in thats my frame of reference) read more
