This is a story of what you normally hear of a roofer, not a dentist. Its as simple as paying for the roofer and never receiving the roof. Chasing the roofer down trying to get your money back etc. This was my experience with Deluane Dental. August 2014 I went to Delaune Dental for a complete dental restoration. I was told I would be completed by Christmas 2014. I was charged upfront for the work. August 2015 after $37,000 and a year later, I looked as I did the day I walked in. I asked for a refund since the work had not been done. After numerous attempts of asking for a refund for work that had not been done I received an email stating they didn't issue refunds.(Picture attached) After seeing other dentist I have realized how I should of price shopped as Dr. Delaune charged me $1500 for a temporary bridge other dentist said they would of charged $300. On the average I was overcharged $500 per tooth. I filed a complaint with the LA Dental board. Yet, maybe because we are in Louisiana (land of the crooks ) the LA Dental Board turns a blind eye. The only way they will pursuit a dentist is under malpractice. They have no rules against a Dentist stealing, taking money up front and not preforming a service. I went to see Arthur Hickman, Director. I could not understand how the mission of the Louisiana State Dental Board is " Protect the Public" yet they were allowing this man to take money, not do the job and refuse a refund. Of course, he would not come out of his office to discuss this. I am only angry at myself. I saw the warning signs. His staff has turned over 3-5 times in the past year. His assistant (Carolina) pushes lip injections (which they do) She likes telling the latest gossip of the Doctors daughter being bulimic or about her daughter being a stripper to get through school. His office has called me days in advance of my appointment asking for "$3800 to reserve my seat" after I had already paid him over $15,000 for work that had not begun. I was so desperate to have my smile back, not to mention I was very unhealthy from not being able to eat I went along with it. However each trip, I paid and in return left in tears. I was lead to believe completion by Christmas, then February to find out in February it would be August and August ....... Dr. Delaune knew on my last visit I was very upset, he had Lisa from the front desk email to tell me he was going to call- I have emails saying he was calling for 5 days and I never heard from him. Once he had been paid he had no interest in completing the work that had been drug on for over a year . His office states I became impatient as they fought for money I disputed on my American express. He couldnt give me a time frame (remember he could prior to payment but not afterwards) I was told Christmas of 2014 it's now August 2015. Yes I was impatient at this point. The picture taken is the work of another dentist as Dr. Delaune took the money and left me without teeth. I have had to go to another dentist and spend $21,000 to complete the work I paid Dr. Delaune for, he did not do the work, yet will not refund the money. I wish I had done more research this has been a true nightmare for me and my family to endure. I most certainly would rather be smiling and showing off my new smile but my experience was far from that. I would never recommend this dentist. It was a horrific experience . Called on a Monday when I was looking to have some Amalgam Fillings removed and replaced with Composites. And to my pleasant surprise they were able to fit me in the upcoming Wednesday. The procedure took around an hour and a half, and was just what I assumed it would be in terms of cost. The overall experience was very professional, courteous, attentive and efficient. For years I considered getting braces to close the gap between my two front teeth. I decided to start my research on the internet to get all my options when I came across the six month smiles website. I search all the dentist within a 50 mile radius of where I lived when I came across the most qualified dentist on the list, which was Dr. Delaune. I went in for a consultation and the staff were amazing. They made me feel welcomed and made sure I was comfortable. Dr. Delaune examined my teeth and told me all my options and gave me his opinion. He actually listened to my concerns and didn't pressure me to make a decision right away, which I liked. After my consultation, I was confident enough to take the leap and get the six month smiles the same day. Throughout the whole process, he customized my dental plan to fit my individual needs. It only took 5 months to close a 3.5 mm gap which is super fast considering how big the space was. Dr Delaune and his staff are amazing people and made my experience with braces that much easier; I looked forward to seeing them once a month. As a child I was very traumatized after a diving accident. I broke my 2 front teeth diving into a gunite pool and nailing the side with my mouth opened. With roots exposed, screaming and running all the way home, I was quickly whisked away to the dentist once my parents returned home. The dentist did what he had to do that day, then mentioned the need for root canals and "caps" (as I remember it...metal looking, like from the James Bond movie character Jaws). I was devastated. I went weeks thinking I was getting metal front teeth, no one understood of how I perceived these "caps", which were in actuality enamel colored. Then came the root canals, I can still remember the pain from that day in the early 80's, like it was last week. With headphones on for distraction, nitrous and lidocaine....I STILL REMEMBER it all. This set the scene for the rest of my younger years, until I was 48. I have ALWAYS been conscious of my discolored teeth (I even remember going to the skating rink and never opening my mouth to smile, when they put the black lights on......my front teeth fluoresced.) I learned to smile never showing my teeth and always thought that someone noticed the crowns. I didn't have great dental experiences from that point and I ultimately failed with my dental care. I was 47 years old, with multiple fillings and 2 very old crowns...I decided this was the year I was going to overcome my fear and get the teeth that I so dearly wanted. I wanted white, beautiful teeth... The process started with cleaning....I was terrified, but Gina was so gentle. Where has she been all this time?! I want my teeth cleaned by her EVERY month! She never once made me feel terrible or guilty about how I took care of my teeth in the past. Then came the consult with Dr. Delaune about my smile expectations. I knew I had work to be done and he prepared me, to obtain the smile I always wanted. Every office staff member has been wonderful, I absolutely LOVE this dental office. The hygienist at this office is amazing! However, I never even got to see the dentist. They asked me to come back two hours after the hygienist finished my cleaning. When I explained that wouldn't work and I asked to reschedule the woman who worked the front desk insisted I come back in 2 hours because the dentist would be going on vacation? She was so pushy I just scheduled an appointment to get her off my back. I forgot all about this strange appointment until I received a follow up call from their office. No joke, when I explained I wasnt interested she scolded me about not cancelling 48 hours in advance. The staff at the desk is always accommodating whenever I cannot make a certain time for an appointment or when a conflict arises with appointment times. They are willing to work with you to find the right time for you. During the procedures, Dr. Delaune and the staff repeatedly make sure you are ok, ask if you are uncomfortable in any way, and describe in detail what the procedures are and what they entail. Should I experience any sort of inevitable discomfort, Dr. Delaune always warns me of the possibility. I reviewed the letter I received from Delaune Dental which states that since I wrote an undesirable review, Delaune recommends I pursue dental care in another office. Now, Theresa's (the wife) comment on my review is that I was legally dismissed because of abusive and bullying behavior. The letter proves that is an OUTRIGHT LIE Theresa! I have been very kind and patient during prolonged treatment when I had to bite by tongue. My case was a challenging one and although Dr. Delaune I'm sure wanted to give me the results I wanted this did not happen. I was told he would refund my money (most of it) if I could achieve the results I wanted with another dentist and I did do that and he did in the end keep his word with me and returned my money. I do think that crowns should be tried out at home (especially ones on your front teeth) by the patient before cementing in and signing that you are keeping the crowns. This is the old way of dentistry and not the most patient friendly. This could have alleviated some of our issues. read more

First off i had a great impression of this practice. I had terrible jaw pain and contacted them for help. The front desk girl Lisa made it seem like they saw this issue all the time and i would finally get some relief. I asked NUMEROUS times if the services would be covered under my insurance plan and was told not to worry it it would all be covered. When i arrived at the office the front desk personnel Lisa and the hygienist (not sure of her name) were goofing off and very unprofessional; that first off, made me a little uneasy. I was seen and first off the hygienist was trying to diagnose me and automatically went to saying that i was going to need all types of devices to correct my problem. I had not even been seen by the Doctor at that time. I have to say that Dr. Delaune was very professional and through. He was able to help me but getting through the staff is a nightmare. when i went to check out i was then told that i did not owe anything and that my insurance would cover it.. Lisa even had all of my dental benefits printed out and gave me a copy... so i thought that she had verified that my services were in fact covered at 100%. about 3 months went by and i receive a phone call (at work) saying that i have a past due balance of almost $200 and that if i do not pay ill be placed in collections. Better yet I HAD NEVER RECEIVED A BILL IN THE MAIL!!! i asked why i had not received a bill and why I had a balance and she said that my insurance didn't cover it--- just a routine office visit and routine x-rays!!! Why would you be so misleading in the beginning?? better yet why tell me i didn't owe when in fact you didn't even bother to read into my plan details?? and the Why would you not send me a statement to explain why i owe until i ask for it?? BOTTOM LINE-- DO NOT TRUST THE STAFF OR ANYTHING THEY SAY!!! I WOULD NEVER RECOMMEND THIS PRACTICE!! read more
