This was such a cute find in Leadville. I love the lobby and bar area. The staff was extreme friendly. All the decor is so nice! I didn't stay here but explored some of the rooms while they were cleaning. The rooms are the second floor give the feel of a bed and breakfast. The coffee shop on the first floor had a pretty extensive menu of drinks as well. it took a while for them to make our drinks but they were good! read more

I've been here on two different visits now and the drinks are so beautiful and well crafted! They also have some excellent NA options. But the food was also phenomenal! Lots of great sides or mains here. I especially loved the artichoke dip and crispy little bread that went with it! You can hang out in the swanky little bar area with a piano in the room and perfect lighting and just a whole vibe. Or you can enjoy it in their dining room. We did one of each from 2 seperate visits (me and my friend Danielle). It was one of our favorite things we did on both trips. So much history and art and just amazing service awesome people working here that really care about their craft! read more

Our stay was negatively impacted by repeated poor customer service from the bar hostess. On our first day, we specifically asked the receptionist whether we could bring our own drinks to the sitting area, and we were told that it was allowed. Based on that information, we felt comfortable doing so during our stay. By our third day, she began putting up signs and continued to harass us, stating, "This is the last time I will tell you," even though we had already explained that we were acting based on guidance from the front desk. What made this especially uncomfortable was that we felt singled out, and the repeated confrontations came across as targeted and discriminatory, raising serious concerns about possible racial bias. Clear communication between staff and respectful treatment of guests are essential. Unfortunately, this ongoing behavior overshadowed our experience and reflects poorly on the hotel's customer service standards. I hope management addresses both the inconsistency in policy communication and the lack of professionalism shown. read more

Delaware Hotel can whip up some delicious drinks. It is definitely one of the nicer spots to stop in Leadville for a drink. The bartender was very friendly and accommodating to my special drink requests. Great spot for a night cap or cocktail to start the night. read more

The people who were at the check-in were always on their phone, talking to other coworkers, it felt it was just a huge intrusion to get checked in or ask for more coffee be brought upstairs. Wow this place was just amazing. Super super cute and the remodel turned out stunning. The staff was so friendly and so amazing to us as we came in a group and they were accommodating, polite, helpful in every way. The location was great right on the main road right in the middle of all the little shops and restaurants. The hotel itself also has a really nice bar, coffee, and a restaurant inside of it. Decided to stay here for our anniversary. Somewhat disappointed with the room and the cost. The room did have a king bed, no side tables, one outlet at the sink to plug in our phone chargers, a shower I almost had to step out of to turn around, and the shower just started dripping at 4 AM. Restaurant was very good and well priced for being in a hotel. I travel for work and have had better roadside hotel rooms. The positives, and I have been saying this for years. The ice buckets are next to the ice machine, so you can grab your ice on the way to your room. This is also a plus since the ice machine is on the second floor. The currently is no elevator, which I knew from the website, but be prepared for narrow and steep stairs. The staff were amazing at the hotel an the restaurant, thank goodness. For the cost, over $300 for one night, I would never even think of going back. read more

Staff was amazing, Yasmine and Britney run the place and were always friendly and helpful. What an incredible experience all around! A very large group of friends (50+) got together to celebrate Halloween together here, and I cannot say enough. This is a true gem of a hotel, made even more wonderful by the absolutely wonderful staff! The remodel of the main floor is stunning and has a great bar and a fantastic restaurant. The rooms all had comfortable, plush mattresses. And, they were thoughtful enough to include a sound machine in each room. I slept like a baby. Above and beyond this though, truly, was the staff of the hotel. Jasmine and Brittny especially were the most gracious, fun, and accommodating hosts. And Danny was the BEST bartender! We were a big, boisterous group, and did it all with multiple Halloween costume changes. Not only was the whole staff incredibly kind (and full of fun tidbits about the history of the hotel), but they wound up joining right in on the fun with costumes of their own! If you are anywhere near Leadville, absolutely go check this place out! read more

Im a vodka drinker but very indecisive on ordering so the bartender (forgot to catch her name but she had dark brown hair) recommended a new drink she came up with. It was a cider mule. Let me tell ya, that was the best thing I've had in a while! I'm obsessed! If you're ever in Leadville definitely recommend visiting here and getting the cider mule! read more

Thin walls done make it seem like we sharin' a room with the next door folk. The rooms are heated like a small tool shed, space heaters. The floor is leaning to one side. Cowboy tip: run the shower for about five minutes to let them old pipes heat up. I could'a sworn I was about to shower in the cold. Avoid this place partner. read more

We checked in for a one night stay this past week thinkingo it would be a charming place to stay as it was a historic location and was under new ownership/management. We traveled to Leadville from California to see the home my father lived in during the 1930's. The hotel from the outside looks very nice . Checkin is at 4pm but checkout is at 10 AM...not 11 like most hotels. We never were greeted by anyone and received an email with directions for self checkin. There is not an elevator so you must carry your bags up a pretty steep flight of stairs. We are in our late 60's and in good shape so we managed, some would not. The rooms are not air conditioned but there is a very inexpensive small fan in the room. On the morning of our checkout, we had someone run by and knock on our door in the early am hours. At 6:30 the door starts to open up and the housekeeper says she was told by management the room was empty and we had checked out. She came back twice more before 10 Am saying the same thing so we packed in a hurry and got out. I would not recommend staying here at $150 a night, it maybe worth $75 on a good night. We originally booked because it talked about a free breakfast and it was right downtown but the new owner emailed us saying there would be no breakfast. ..but we will still honor your original price. Very disappointed....would not stay here again until they get their act together. read more

These ladies rock! Why do I say "ladies"? Because the hotel has an awesome team of young women who run the place in a way that's warm, professional, efficient, and uber accommodating. Smiles, casual friendly chatter, recommendations, and good ol' fashion frontier fun permeates this property. And it's centrally located, which is a huge plus. For us, it meant, after hours of perusing the wonderful Leadville shops, that we could come back to the hotel, rest for a bit, have a drink in the very large, very comfy bar lounge, or have nibbles from their extensive menu courtesy of their excellent restaurant, Mineral, then step back out into the center of town for more activity. The Hotel Delaware team of Yasmin, Courtney, Abby, Hanalore, and Jasmine made this place really come alive for us. When we left, we felt like we were leaving friends, which, well, I guess we were. There's no question we'll be back to The Hotel Delaware whenever we come back to celebrate Boom Days again! The place is definitely cool, and the team of people who work there are nothing short of exceptional. read more

Perfect old west hotel experience in Leadville. Stayed one night with my mom and my 3 kids. We stayed in room 18 which was AMAZING! Plenty of room for all of us. This is the best room in the hotel in my opinion. High ceilings, plenty of natural light and viticulture authentic finishes. For 100+ year old hotel this place is an experience! The history this place holds is mind blowing. You can easily imagine old west gun slingers stroking down the street and ponying up the the bar. They are amidst a renovation and cannot wait to see the finished product! All the clutter is gone with clean lines throughout. Staff was friendly and helpful with local eats. I hope they open up the hotel bar as that would be a nice touch. Coffee tea and hot cocoa was available with nice mugs to take back to the room. We live only an hour away and will be having another staycation soo !! read more

Disappointed in the hotel. First of all there is construction on the whole first floor, that's not mentioned on their site, there is no elevator, we were on the third floor. Skeleton staff (which i get these days, but this poor guy was running suitcase up and down the stairs. The Wi-Fi is not working either. I will say i see the charm int the hotel and maybe we just picked the wrong month...in any case its been a disappointment. read more

We have stayed at the Delaware Hotel quite a few times. But after our stay this week, we probably won't go back. There is no sound insulation between rooms. The person in the room next to us kept running water and pacing around the room. It was impossible to sleep. The crazy thing on the part of the hotel is that even though this was a Monday night and the hotel was NOT full, they put our room right next to one that was occupied. If management had more respect for visitors, they would keep an empty room between a booked room. They surely are aware of the lack of soundproofing. On the positive side, it is clear that a great deal of work is going into keeping this a lovely, historic hotel. And they have the advantage of little competition. read more

Leadville is at a high elevation and we were on the third floor and no elevator so that was a challenge. (No fault of theirs). Made a same day reservation for New Year's Eve but couldn't make it up. Tried contacting the hotel and they promised to call me back. I called three times and each time they promised I would receive a callback but never did. They sent an email saying that they couldn't cancel within 24 hours and that they always recommend their guests book travel insurance. I was never informed of this policy or the travel insurance. I couldn't even get travel insurance because it was same day Long story short the hotel just took money and never even bothered to call a customer back. I would not trust this business again or any affiliated businesses under the High Rocky Homes management group. read more

Five stars for the price, the history and what the new owners are doing. I stayed here ten years ago and it was wild - stuff everywhere and the last tube TV I ever watched. Today, clean, modern tv and stuff removed. Rooms are funky with antiques and odd layout, but clean, warm and comfortable. Great location and a fun place to stay for a couple of nights. Some reviews cited lack of staff and welcoming from the front desk. I experienced the exact opposite on my last two visits - helpful front desk and really nice chat with the general manager. The "contactless" entry is super handy, but from my experience you can also go up to the desk and interact with a human. read more

Though I didn't stay at this old victorian hotel which I understand is listed in National Register of Historic Places, I visited with many friends (and soon to be friends) at this place during a political gathering some years back. The establishment's amenities include all the usual but what really sets this place apart is the lobby where all of us coventioneers had gathered. It looked like a very small version of the haunted "Overlook Hotel" from Kubrick's version of _The Shining_. Also, the hotel's bar had an excellent selection of booze. The entire building - both the outside and interior- seems to evoke a feel of the local history dating back to the beginnings of the town itself. Guess it's only fitting that there are museum collections on display throughout the hotel. read more

We needed a place to spend the night before hiking Mount Elbert, and this place fit the bill perfectly (only 30 mins from the trailhead). We were able to check into our room a little early, and parking was right across the street. We stayed in a room with twin beds. The beds were very comfortable, and while the room was a little small it was very clean (besides, in a historic hotel the rooms are usually smaller). When we told the front desk that we would be leaving at 4:30 in the morning, they offered to have the breakfast set up for us. It was very kind of them to have hot coffee and breakfast ready so early. I would definitely recommend this hotel, and will stay here again if I'm in the area. read more

The front desk staff member was EXTREMELY kind the morning of our check out - we had an early start (5a) and they had already prepared breakfast even though it was before 6a so we could easily grab it and go! My family stayed during the "Christmas holidays and left on Christmas eve. 1. The bed was hard as a rock. Evidently, these beds are original to the hotel. 2. The walls were as thin as paper, we did not sleep for two days. We heard everything from people on the street to the next door neighbor. 3. Our room was sloped. We measured one degree slope, from the beginning of the headboard to the end. 4. The room was heated by space heaters! We did not expect to live through the night as we would surely die in the smoking flames, as the space heaters ignited. Sparks came out of our outlets. 5. The refrigerator did not work. 6. We could not watch TV, as the bedposts were in the way of the view. We tried to move the TV, but the cord was too short and plugged into the outlets of which were headed for meltdown. 7. Continental breakfast? Frozen fruit, stale bagels, cold coffee. 8. The toilet was wobbly and if you have a large rear end, forget it..... The worst experience was when we tried to negotiate for a different room, the owner, was obviously offended by our requests and offered for us to leave......on Christmas Eve. The owner doesn't care about her customers and she lacks compassion. She needs to go into another line of business..... read more

I have had the pleasure to stay at a couple of properties owned by High Rocky Homes. Tracy and Matt are more than courteous. As a guest they took care of all my needs and requests. The rooms were clean, well appointed with typical amenities. Great location, right on Harrison. Good restaurants all around. The establishment is historic and the building has that old vibe. I love the fact the hotel is still very much the same as it was 100 years a go. 5 stars for 100 years old!! Again, Tracy and Matt were great! read more

We were walking around Leadville after eating supper hoping to find souvenirs and tee shirts. Most stores were closed (its 5:30 pm) but this was open!! More tee shirts than we could sort through. We found Christmas ornaments and stickers too. So besides this being a hotel it should also make the list for souvenirs!!! read more

I stayed at the Delaware years ago for one evening. It's a beautiful building and the room was interesting. I don't have bad memories of the service at that time. I recently went back to Leadville for a day trip. We stopped in at the Delaware for a look around. When a friend of mine tried to use the restroom, she was scolded by an employee and told they don't open until Friday. Since almost the entire first floor is taken up by items for sale, you'd think they'd be a little nicer to people coming in to the lobby. And if they're closed, why not have the doors locked and a sign posted? That seems to me a better option than being rude to people. It was a small incident, but totally ruined the hotel for me. Wonderful old hotel in the heart of Leadville. Authentic and quirky, comfortable enough - depending on what your needs are. The 2-bedroom suite was very spacious and sunny, on the second floor. The bathroom door didn't work quite right -- didn't stay closed easily -- but was workable. After all, it's 100+ year old building. The free breakfast was ok, nothing special. I had hoped for something a little better than motel style. They could elevate this a notch and include more healthy options. Before you book, consider: 1) steep stairs -- no elevator. My 80+ year old mom made it up and down with some help, but other folks might not. 2) Noise. The hotel is right on the main street, which is also the "highway" through the center of town. On a weeknight in early fall, it was ok but not great situation if you like quiet for sleeping. If you're a city creature, should be fine. The prices were very reasonable, especially for 2 large rooms which could have slept quite a few people. Given the other options in town (most on the main street), I'd recommend the Delaware. Just don't expect 21st century generic lodging. read more
