The Delaware County Police Department is okay for a suburban city such as Delaware, Ohio. I lived there for over 15 years and had gotten to know the police department throughout those years through the visits they made to our high school to make sure it was safe to town events. I would say they are very responsive when you make a call to them it's top priority. We had numerous threats in high school of a bomb and they would make sure to check everything out and give us the all clear to go back in. They even brought the dogs to make sure students weren't hiding anything inside everytime those calls were made. Safety is a main concern to the residents of Delaware county, making sure children and families are protected and the Delaware County Police Department very much acknowledges that. If a juvenile steals or commits a small crime they have the juvenile facility for them. There is also the adult jail which I had to tour for a Girl Scout project once. I don't think I want to ever go back there again because that was a bit much to handle as a child. I would say this police department is okay, I feel like now that I live in Columbus, that police department may be a little more stricter than what I witnessed in Delaware County. Since Columbus is a bigger city and more crimes tend to happen in cities than little tiny suburbs. Although it's great, I wouldn't want to raise a child in a city with a lot of crime and violence, I would like seeing law enforcement there whenever possible and that's what you have here in Delaware. read more
