I phoned around 4 garages to gauge prices and found MH Auto's to be one of the cheapest. ALSO when they heard my sob story they quickly arranged a suitable courtesy car so I could get around AND halved the quoted time. I had to return to collect my locking wheel nut and a battery cover, but all in all I consider myself to be lucky to find a genuine and helpful garage - it could easily have gone the other way. Monarch Automotive is a automotive garage that was formerly the Perkins Service Garage, which was…read moresold off to Monarch. The staff who work there are much the same as when it was part of Perkins. The garage is a trustworthy one, where in my experience, they only do the work you ask them to do or they will tell you if something needs doing and then you decide. Their customer service is good and the folks there have a good telephone manner. Perhaps not the most convenient location, it is still worth goping to for trustworthy mechanics who charge adecent rate. A few main dealers could learn from this place. I just hope they keep this good standard up.

This is the worst garage I have ever had the misfortune to use, my car broke down and the RAC…read morediagnosed a crankshaft sensor the car drove under its own power onto Monarch recovery unit it their workshops they changed the camshaft sensor at twice the cost parts alone of the original quote they then replaced the plug leads as there was signs of rodent damage (this had been there for 3 months) when it still didn't cure the problem they stated it must be rodent damage to the wiring, I insisted that the car was returned to me after paying nearly £400 the car was returned and would not start at all when I looked at the car I replaced the crankshaft sensor in 30 mins on my front garden at a cost of £49 the car started first time and has run with no problem I was clear that the crank sensor had not been touched as it was covered in oil and road dirt I have complained to Monarch but they have not had the courtesy to reply to it they just appear to be kicking it around till it goes away. I feel that this garage is a total rip off

My car failed its MOT on Monday, I had the parts for Steve on Wednesday, and they were fitted and…read moreready to go by Thursday, ready for its retest on Friday morning. Really nice, genuine guy who doesn't try to upsell, who charged me a really fair price for front axle discs and pads fitting (which I supplied). The front n/s caliper had rusted, so Steve sourced a replacement by the following morning after a phone consultation (he happily showed me the old part to show me its poor condition). The sort of trustworthy local mechanic who will tell you what you need to keep an eye on without being pushy about additional work, and who even freed up a n/s rear seized rear brake cylinder for no extra charge. Great attention to detail, as he noticed some issues with the car which were down as advisories on previous MOTs, but which hadn't been picked up on this time! I'll be going back if I have any future problems for sure.
