If you love beans and horchata, you will be happy. They serve chili relleno with no sauce and not hot. The chulupa had lettuce, cheese, and avocado. The enchilada was not hot and sauce was bland as was the hamburger in it. It was absolutely the best horchata I have had since leaving local. Try s hamburger meat and bean burrito, it might pass. Best suggestion, stop somewhere before you get there or wait until El Paso. Service was okay, ambience was cute. read more

My wife and I stopped by here not knowing what we would find. Not fancy from the outside, but when we opened the door we were pleasantly surprised to see a colorful and friendly looking place. Well, well, well...now what was I doing out in Sierra Blanca yesterday? I definitely didn't drive 7.5 hours to make my court appearance in person for a traffic violation because the Sierra Blanca courthouse's phone and fax numbers haven't been working for months now, and I'm not interested in receiving a surprise bench warrant. No, no, nothing crazy like that. Just a normal visit to this quaint town. I grabbed some breakfast from here before leaving to go back home. The chilaquiles were just fine. This place knows who it is (i.e. the only restaurant in town) and doesn't need to try too hard, it does it all just fine. The inside definitely feels a bit grimy but what do ya expect, huh? Nice change of pace from typical road trip food. I know everyone is entitled to their own opinion but here's mine: it does the job. I ordered the chicken floutas and horchata while my husband ordered their grand slam breakfast. We were also given chips and salsa which naturally you can't go wrong with. The place wasn't busy but again, this is one of those places that you would stop by after driving for long stretches and don't want the typical fast food chain brand food. New location from last time I was here, and a better one. Still great food an service. Inexpensive. The food is authentic in a way that can only be achieved by actual Mexicans, so no pseudo Mexican food here. There is plenty of seating, so if you are traveling with friends there will be plenty of room. Everything is good, but don't miss their take on steak ranchero. The enchiladas are solid, and the the taco salad bowl is way better than expected. Even given that options are limited in that part of Texas, it is well worth the stop and to my mind far better than the fast food joints that normally represent the lunch or dinner options along side the highway. Delfina's is one of the only places to eat in Sierra Blanca. The restaurant is small and decorated with painted handprints of previous patrons. The restrooms are disgusting-dirty and small. Thankfully, the rest of the establishment seems cleaner and better kept. The chips and salsa aren't too bad, but the chips are overly greasy and we were given one tiny bowl of chips and salsa for our entire group of four. It turns out that tiny bowl of chips was fine because we didn't care for them. I had the Camarones a la Mexicana. The shrimp was really tasty, but the refried beans and rice left a lot to be desired. They just weren't seasoned at all it seemed. The tortilla seemed to be homemade and was fresh, hot, and delicious. Service was almost non-existent. In fact, we were asked if we wanted refills on our water and when we said yes, the water pitcher was just sat on our table for us to refill ourselves. I think it's also important to note that all drinks other than water are bottled or canned. read more

Nope, not looking at Yelp for this one. In a town of a couple of gas stations with the only other dining option a Subway inside of the one we stopped at (uh, no thanks, never... ever) the evidence if was a dive diner serving Mexican was all it took to get us to stop. Tex-Mex, your standard fare with green and red sauces, a few things that don't fit like omelettes still available at lunch and the usual burrito/taco, etc. we opted for the gorditas (ground beef only) and an omelette. The gorditas were quite good though the kitchen is using pre-shredded cheese which is sort of a turnoff. The sauces appeared to be locally made and were contained on a serving island in the middle that included of all things sriracha-mayo--that staple of all Mexican diets, right? Weird. For so many options you could add to a gordita which had an above average shell, the choice of only ground beef sort of tells the additional story that it's pretty basic cooking going on. No carnitas, cabeza, tripas, etc. But good enough. Questionable cleanliness and a corner of the restaurant that looked part failed gift shop and storage for whatever is needed. But in a town with so few other choices, I'd stop here again. Not many choices on this very lonely stretch of the interstate between Van Horn and El Paso! read more

I had a good warm breakfast here after a night camping in the serene quiet of land in the middle of the desert north of Sierra Blanca. To be sure any warm meal would have been welcome after having camp food the day prior, but it was a satisfying meal in any case. The hot coffee was strong but not bitter and was just what I needed with the chorizo plate. If anything the portion could have been a bit more since I finished it off very quickly. I recommend this quaint small town for its old west feel, and Delfina's which is adjacent to a "Country Store" gift shop. read more

First let me say that our experience may have been a unique one. My husband and I are truck drivers and we travel all around the country, so it's rare you come across a jewel like this. However, the service left something to be desired. We stopped around 11:00 am on a Sunday and as we entered we were greeted immediately. The place was empty except for one gentleman sittng in a booth eating. It took about 5 minutes before someone came over and asked us for our drink order. We place our food order and wait..... My husband ordered an omelette plate and I ordered the gordita plate and a chile colorado burrito. At this point the place is filling up fast, we thought this must be the locals spot because you saw the 3 servers taking extra time greeting and speaking with them. About this point we are 25 minutes into waiting for our food now mind you that we were the second table to arrive with at least a 10 minute headstart to the crowd that was behind us. Oh and I forgot to mention that most of these patrons have chosen the self-serve buffet, so why the long wait, right? About another 5 minutes pass and finally.... We get my husband's plate of eggs out first. My husband asked the server for extra napkins and when he returned he asked about my plate. That server goes to the back and our server then proceeds to yell yes yell from the kitchen door at me across the restaurant. Imagine our dismay at this woman yelling at us about our food. Well as she is yelling server A is coming out with my plate of gorditas and she snatches the plate from him. As she is placing my plate in front of me she says "Dis takes longer to ccok!". So my husband responds to her and asks then why would you bring out one plate and have me eat in front of my wife and not bring her plate? Her response "THAT'S NOT MY PROBLEM! I DO WHAT THE KITCHEN TELL ME! YOU DON'T LIKE IT TOO BAD!!!" and stomps away. Needless to say at this point I am highly annoyed so much so that I took one bite of this amazingly delicious gordita and was so upset amd uncomfortable that I got up from my table and asked server C for a to go container. When I return low and behold she brought my burrito which consisted of literally 3 pieces of small diced meat. It was a joke! As I said at this point I had enough abuse. So we walk up to pay our tab and again she bumps server A from the cash register so she can handle us. So I say to her in a monotone voice that I did not appreciate being yelled at in front of a restaurant full of people and the tone that she took when speaking to my husband was inappropriate and in no way called for. She didn't respond so as she is ringing us up I mention that I didn't want the burrito (look she had enough time to spit in that one). She tells me your order you buy, I asked for Delfina and she said I could call her. i asked for a card and number she told me to go outside for it. Rather than arguing I simply nodded to my Hubby to pay the $27.00 tab to the lady and I walked towards the door. Apparently, after I was by the door she had the audacity to say under breath "don't cry about it". Of course I didn't hear this my Hubby tells me once we are in our truck. I must say ERICA you suck at your job and Delfina needs to rethink the status of your employment. This place was a joke. If you aren't a local don't bother Unless you like bing screamed at. Rdicoulous!!! But I will say the gorditas were amazing.... Take out.... Take your food and run and check your receipt because we got ripped off. read more

There Mexican food is very good along with an interesting salsa bar. In addition they have breakfast burritos all day. It is a cash only restaurant and they have an ATM machine.
