I'm pretty hungry not eating anything that day so far. I decide on the breakfast special ( 2 eggs any style and home fries). I add toast and bacon. Eggs over medium. The coffee is pretty good. I'm looking at traffic patterns in my phone, checking out the weather. Food arrives pretty quick and the plate is covered. Toast is fresh, home fries and good, bacon crispy and eggs cooked to order. The coffee gets refilled and I'm enjoying every bite. I like the old school diner vibe with the fresh coffee and diner style foods. I am finished and quite full with an excellent meal. I get the check and it's pretty cheap. She gets a good tip, I'm done with the coffee and out the door. I have been going past for maybe 20 years and stopped now twice. I think it will be a regular stop on my way to Rochester back and forth granted they're open. I think they're closing for a few weeks in August, just be aware. The portion size was bigger than expected for the price. The hot sausage with cheese was another win: perfectly grilled, slightly charred, and just spicy enough to satisfy. Served on the same basic white bun with American cheese, it was simple, classic, and done right. Plenty of free, on-site parking is available right out front since Jimmy's is located in a strip mall. When I walked in today to indulge in a lunch that I don't have to clean my kitchen after it prep the vegetables before. I was met with a pleasant fragrance of food. It wasn't a specific dish, and nothing overpowering, just the smell of an active, clean kitchen with good ingredients. The counter had a display case of 'bolis and pizzas and two registers in front of an exposed kitchen area with upbeat music. The employee at the register was friendly and kind. We shared a joke about the restaurant taking care of prepping the veggies. She told me about lunch specials involving an individual mini 'boli or pizza slices. I opted for a Large Grilled chicken salad with its balsamic vinaigrette and onion rings to go. While I waited I took note of a clean and orderly split dining room, a case of cold beverages and, to add some charm, a turn key style candy filled gumball machine. When I got home, the onion rings were still hot, with crispy breading and soft onions. One of the peeves I have with onion rings is when the onion doesn't have a "clean bite" and you end up pulling the onion out of the breading. These didn't do that. The slices are thick enough and are cooked to the right temperature to have a clean bite with a tender onion texture. There was a small cup of ranch. The salad was very filling! It was topped with chunks of grilled chicken, a handful of shredded mozzarella, some iceberg lettuce, sliced Roma tomato, thin slivers of red onions, black olives, pickled bell peppers, cucumbers, and shredded carrots. I found an olive pit in my salad. It happens, and I'm glad I didn't chip a tooth on it! I'm also glad I don't have to pit olives. There was a good size piece of bread in the side with the balsamic vinaigrette I asked for. The bread had a wonderful texture and the vinaigrette was nicely tangy.
