What can I say? This was my 1st and last time here. I didn't feel very welcomed, but I can get past that. I decided I wanted a half and half soup and salad but I was told they couldn't do half a salad but as you can see in the menu they do. So, I can still get past that. I had the Thai Chicken soup, and Roast Beef Sandwich. It was actually delicious. But what I can not get past is the filthy sticky table. I asked someone to clean it, and she came with a paper towel to clean only one fourth of the table. Only where I sat, meanwhile my sister's spot was left unclean. OMGOOOOODNESS!!! I ordered chicken salad and asked what came with it since it is 9.00!! She said oh, it comes with fruit and lettuce and the chicken salad, duh. They brought this to me and it was so light! I opened it up and it is a scoop of chicken salad on 2 pieces of lettuce with 3 grapes, 2 small chunks of cantaloupe and one HALVED strawberry!!!!! Thank goodness I had crackers but I was still hungry after I ate it and it wasn't good at all! The chicken salad had some big gristle, gray piece of chicken in it...I gagged. ALL THIS FOR 9.00! NOTE: I went to Newk's Eatery the day before and bought a 10.00 salad and still had half of it left to take home!!! read more

Great, small-town deli/coffee shop, with high-quality sandwiches, wraps and baked goods. My only complaint is the lack of espresso drinks (machine out-of-order) and a ridiculously early closing time (2pm). In a downtown lacking other options, please consider staying open until at least 3:00 to allow for a relaxed after-lunch coffee and cupcake. All-in-all, Deli on 5th, is well worth the five minute drive off of I-20, if you're looking for a great lunch (before 2pm). read more

Great food and great staff. Quick and fresh food. The cheese burger quesadilla is awesome along with Wednesday special cheese burger pasta.

I loved this deli and frequented it at least 3 times a week when I worked in downtown Meridian. My favorite sandwich was the Cuban. It's as if my lunch was prepared with love. The staff was always friendly and as welcoming. I'd give 6 stars if possible! read more

My fiance raved about this place. As does everyone else. I'm now left wondering why. I ordered the chicken salad sandwich. For $6. $1 extra when I swapped out chips for a fruit cup. And by cup I mean teeny tiny cup. The chicken salad had potential. But a small sandwich for $6, it should have been amazing. Jimmy John's has way better food for a more reasonable price. Best lunch spot in town! Great assortment of sandwiches and salads. Daily soup specials are always worth a try and save room for desserts especially the homemade brownies! In the heart of downtown so I recommend you stop by and enjoy the hospitality. read more

This place is overrated. I see now why they are only open 4 hrs a day. I had looked forward to eating here for some time and finally found myself downtown when they were open. I'm sure their food is good, I just had the misfortune of ordering the Reuben. They have no concept of what a Reuben is as I was presented with a very thin, pressed (way over-toasted) sandwich. It had all the ingredients, with the exception that marble rye was substituted for rye, but the execution was terrible. You don't toast or press a Reuben for starters! The pastrami was of dubious quality, and extremely stingy. The sauerkraut was way too watery and ruined the the already burned and extremely thin bread. Cheese unmelted but meat clearly microwaved as it was extremely hot. Just a horrible inedible sandwich by any stretch. They were kind enough to refund my money, but when she asked the reason I was dissatisfied and I began to explain what a Reuben is supposed to be, she became defensive and condescending. If you are going to open a sandwich shop, you should know how to make the classic sandwiches that you advertise on your menu. If you alter a classic, re-name it! Call it something else, but don't call it a Reuben and then deliver something else entirely! I won't be back. And what's with the gloomy references to Elvis? His obit's, really?
