We arrived for lunch on a Saturday and they had a steady flow of patrons at the tables and ordering. Though slightly understaff, they watch as a team from taking orders, providing your dreams, preparing the order and servicing it. And they came around to see if you anything else and pick up our empty plates. 3.5 Stars Ambiance is low key and chill. Tables and bathrooms were clean and the music wasn't loud. This establishment continues to honor a 10% military discount. I believe this discount also applies to law-enforcement and first responders. Just make sure you ask for it and you may have to show your ID. Food 3 Stars I ordered the Choose 2. You can choose a sandwich, potato, and a side dish. Such as chips, mac & cheese, chili, or other side dish. Some side dishes cost more. My order was a half of a Max Spud and a cup of chili. The spud comes with cheese, black olives, green onions, and some diced ham on it. The spud was a decent size for a half potato. Can't go wrong with a cup of chili - meat chili. Wifey ordered the New Yorker, which is a Reuben on rye bread and a bag of chips. It was good. Iff you'd like Neil she may want to order an extra one. Things like this are typically a direct reflection of leadership/management. When employees look at this and think "who cares" I'm gonna toss this brown/black avocado in this salad, obviously management is failing. An employee should have seen this and decided "I will not bring down this establishment or make my manager look bad by putting this in a customers order". I know avocados change color over time, typically 4-hours after cutting up. Maybe wait and cut when ordered to ensure this isn't your restaurant's image being sent to the customer. Sad. I decided to dine here at McAllister's Deli just because it was basically in walking distance from my hotel, the Baymont hotel and suites by Wyndham in the back. It was a nice Friday evening around 6pm when I came in for dinner. I wanted to eat in my hotel room, so I opted to get take out. The restaurant was not as empty as I thought when I rolled in, but it was humming and the kitchen was rolling. I did see this one delivery lady trying to pick up an order - similar to uber eats or another similar local delivery service in the area. McAllister's Deli has quite an extensive menu full of sandwiches and ready made soups to fill your stomach with ease. I ended up buying 2 sandwiches with the fixin's just because it was nice to have something for breakfast before the 2019 Magnolia marathon and half marathon the next morning. I believe I ordered the New Yorker and the veggie sandwich. I had the New Yorker for dinner that evening and the veggie sandwich the next morning. Coming to McAllister's Deli was a simple decision because it's location was strategically ideal to my hotel. Don't really need to go anywhere else and sandwiches are usually good eating anywhere you go and it doesn't usually cost that much. However, McAllister's Deli seems to be selling sandwiches at a premium. You probably can get a better value deal at your local subway restaurants as Sandwiches go, but I decided to come here instead. With that in mind, I was here for about 15 minutes from ordering to pick up. The overall experience here at McAllister's Deli was short, but nice and casual. Even if it was a take out affair, the service was nice and friendly, while being quick and professional. Customized sandwich restaurants have sprung up in recent years, notably with customized burgers. I think McAllister's Deli falls into a similar category, which charges above normal prices because of their interesting combination offerings. I thought it was a little overpriced for what was served to me, but I was on vacation and enjoying the moment in Meridian, Mississippi. The New Yorker was delicious though, don't get me wrong. The veggie sandwich was nice and hit the spot on a cold November morning. Who wouldn't want a veggie sandwich before running a marathon? The sandwiches came with one side each, which I ordered Mac & cheese and broccoli. Both sides were good and definitely had some healthy and nostalgic properties to it. McAllister's Deli Meridian Mississippi is located at 534 Bonita Lakes Drive, on the eastern side of the city where a lot of the city's hotels are located. They accept major credit cards and cash. Since the restaurant is situated next to two hotels and a private apartment complex, they have ample parking options for y'all who come here and dine in or take out. Not sure about public transportation options here in the city of Meridian, but best choices would be to have your own car or rent one during your stay. If not, there is always the option of uber and lyft at your disposal. For the most part though, the experience here was good and a quick meal for me without having to find a restaurant in town, when McAllister's Deli is like 20 yards away from my hotel. Doesn't get better than that. Lol I do enjoy the fact that this place is more homespun and makes quality food products rather than your typical fast food joints. While it can be considered fast food to some, it's genuine cuisine that want that quality that normally lacks in fast food. They make it with a passion that you can see in its presentation. It makes me smile when it's like that. While I do talk about the price and perceived value compared to other restaurants, you can't beat a customized sandwich that screams deliciousness and sinful delight. It was a treat for me, even though I didn't partake in their desserts. Consider coming here for your next meal, if you are in the Meridian, Mississippi area. I absolutely love McAlister's!! I've written a review here for Birmingham, but I visited this location due to working in Butler, AL. Since there is literally nothing decent to eat in Butler I drive 35 minutes to Meridian, MS just to come here! I'm loving the Desert Pear Lemonade!! I'm not even sure if the one in Birmingham has this, but its delicious. Its a tad bit too sweet but I still love it! Definitely my favorite place to go instead of eating fast food! read more

Well all I can say is a deli chain is a deli chain. Take your pick. Here, Newk's, Jason's, and others. They are all about the same to me. Like I've said in other posts, I try to avoid chains except for convenience and that was the situation here. My wife and I needed and quick meal, and places like this do seem a little healthier than your typical fast food. I always get their club with potato salad. Heading South we stopped in this Deli while staying at a hotel near by. It was a good decision on our part because everything we ordered was so good! Very good lunch. This McAlister s is very clean and nice inside. There was a man behind the counter who was either the owner or manager just by watching him. He was very attentive to all off the guest. And consistently watching to make sure things were getting handled correctly and quickly. I always like to see someone taking real personal care in making sure the customers are happy. The rest of the staff were doing a fine job and no complaints. We ordered from this location while driving to Birmingham. I ordered through the app. The food was ready when we arrived. However, there is no designated spot for online/call in orders so my husband stood awkwardly by the counter until one of the employees finally noticed him and asked what he wanted. There needs to be a sign or better training so that these orders can get out the door quickly. Once we got into the car and was back on the interstate, we realized one of our sides and a pickle spear was missing. That's something we would not have noticed when we picked it up. I came here because it was the place my daughter wanted to go for her birthday lunch. Being that I don't live here I was unfamiliar with this deli but googled prior to my visit, because I'm a picky eater and wanted to make sure there was at least items I could choose to eat (I'm really not a salad, soup, sandwich kinda person). She had never been either. I was a little concerned that she picked this place because I expected her to go more "upscale". I was pleasantly surprised! I ordered a smokey turkey w/ bacon sandwich with mixed fruit and lemonade and my daughter ordered a chicken salad sandwich with potato salad and lemonade tea. I also ordered a baked potato with bacon and butter. They did not disappoint! Friendly service, freshly prepared food, warm atmosphere. I didn't give them 5 stars because while waiting for our meal I returned to the counter and asked if they did anything special for birthday guest like most chain restaurants, because I noticed they have brownies & cookies. I was thinking like a dessert on a plate with "Happy Birthday" with chocolate syrup & candle (or some variation, of course I would have paid for this). I was told "sorry we do not". As I traveled through Meridian recently, I stopped at McAlister's to grab lunch to go. Twenty minutes after placing my order for one sandwich, I left the shop. After taking a couple of bites, I realized that I was chewing on something hard, and spat out the end of the toothpick that the kitchen inserted into my food and then sliced through when halving the sandwich. I notified the website and never received a response. I waited a few days and called the corporate customer service line, who said I should hear back in 24-48 hours. I've never received any response from the restaurant that left a choking hazard in my food. I'd describe this as poor customer service, but that seems like an understatement. read more

Very disappointed. I was looking forward to the Kids Broccoli Chicken Cheese bowl. I had placed my order online. As I was leaving my office a co worker informed me to double check the order because hers had the broccoli soup poured over her chicken and that it did not look anything like what she ordered on the menu. They have a great looking menu of specialty sandwiches and special baked potatoes, but falls short. I guess this should be ranked against other chain restaurants, like the Cici's pizza nearby. Let's put it this way - if you like the pizza at Cici's, you might like the sandwiches here. I ate here once by choice, and had the muffuletta. Incredibly disappointing. The bread wasn't great, and there was hardly any filling. Second time I ate here was because everyone was doing takeout at work. They ordered me a club, or some other similar sandwich. Terrible. Bread was the same blah bread, and again, way too little filling (I ended up throwing away half of the bread from the sandwich, that's how little). I did get a spud, and that's the only redeeming thing, but I wouldn't give that over 3 stars either. Just an unseasoned baked potato loaded with random toppings that didn't really meld well together (and I got the popular one). I could definitely make better at home with almost no effort.
