During a very long and drawn-out divorce, I retained Deliah Know Rios and had a quick and by comparison, a cost effective and rapid completion. There is not even one good thing to say here. My divorce process should have been easy and yet Delilah Knox Rios and her staff (she said she does not have a paralegal in order to cut her costs) made it a mess for everyone. She sent out uncorrected forms, including a shocker in which the names for our case were pasted into a divorce filing that still had the previous clients and their lawyer on it. She sent me papers with a cover sheet marked "for your files" when it was supposed to say "urgent: sign and return." I had to send in corrections after corrections -- major to minor. She sent the opposing attorney so many incorrect petitions that finally the opposing attorney and her staff did all the work I supposedly paid Ms. Rios to do. Thanks to my ex-husband's attorney --please note the huge and painful irony -- it was at last all over nine months after I had paid Ms. Rios the handsome retainer she required upfront. She never sent a statement of billable hours during the whole nine months of repeated and increasingly incompetent errors. I thought she must be suffering from early onset of Alzheimer's, and felt worried about her. I asked her what she planned to return to me. Her response: ignore me for weeks and, when pressed, tell me I owed her another 1k+ after the 4k that she applied to her budget without the slightest consideration of what she owed to her client in services. This appears to be a routine practice with her, and I would say that it looks like a costly trick for her clients. For me, the worst is that her incompetence and indifference meant more pain for me at a low point in my life. read more

My brother passed away recently. My family and I met with Delilah Knox Rios on two occasions. We paid her a nice sum of money to handle what she called a "small non-estate process." Our agreement was that she would file the appropriate paperwork with the court, and contact three financial institutions (mortgage, vehicle loan, etc.) regarding my brother's death. It's been almost six weeks since we last heard from her. It does not appear that any of the financial insitutions were contacted. Neither the court nor the lawyer has contacted my family about the probate matter. Mutliple phone calls and emails have gone unanswered. I would understand a couple of days but it's been five weeks! I visited her office recently on a Monday. It appeared closed for business. It looks like I need to pay for the service of another lawyer. Lesson learned. dont waste your money. hired her in 2019 for a custody battle, child support was being handled by the child support office. she charged me a 3,000 retainer fee which is normal. a few weeks after i signed the paperwork i was served by my child's father. according to my address, I belong to Pomona courthouse. child's father filed in Pasadena. i asked if we could transfer and she said it was ok to go to court there. all she did was file the paperwork and didn't seem like she wanted to do more than the minimum. she did not write my declaration and didn't even proofread it after I submitted it to her. she didn't even guide me on what was relevant information. i mentioned drug and alcohol abuse and still she provided no guidance. the day of court she showed up late. the lawyers met together in a room before we went to see a judge. and she convinced me to agree to joint everything, despite knowing his substance abuse. i was tired and scared so I listened to my lawyer's advice. paying for her was a waste of money she didn't fight for me or do anything other than file!! because i felt she did so little i emailed her asking if there was any money left over from my retinaer and she didn't respond or send me an invoice! only 6 months we settled before seeing a judge dcfs gets involved and my baby daddy loses custody of our child. fast forward to 2021. we're back in court and he's trying to get some custody back (i have sole) so i hire a different attorney.. OH MY, THE DIFFERENCE!!!! they TOOK CARE OF EVERYTHING! i gave them a declaration of what was going on and they cleaned it up!! walked me through what to say and what to avoid. they emailed me a invoice afterwards showing all my charges. Hired Delilah Knox-Rios for divorce....bottom line. Big mistake!!. Not only did she not handle my case competently, she was not assertive and seemed not to care about expediting the case or fighting for me. Had no strategy and took no initiative for my benefit. Was reactive, not proactive. Tried to increase her hourly fee on me mid-way, charged me for phone calls she said she wouldn't, and then blamed her computer system for the error. So, if your foolish to hire her, better check your billing statements w/ a fine tooth comb. Agreed with other reviewer (Wes.S) in that you only hear from her every 4-6 weeks at best, and she does not return your calls, even when her very rude secretary says she will call you the next day. But she is quick to send you a bill. Only when I brought up a certain issue/concern did she do anything, and she is supposed to be the expert.
