St. Stephens also fosters an environment that teaches children about service to others and community, they have zero tolerance for behaviors that would be ignored at other private and public schools in Austin. This is an Episcopalian school that does a beautiful job of making students of diverse religious backgrounds feel welcome and accepted to include students from non-religious families. They offer multiple sports, clubs, and fine arts programs. The tuition is not for the faint of heart, it is costly when compared to other private schools however, it is worth the expense. Most private schools are just like public schools minus the larger classes. St. Stephens not only sets high expectations for their students, they set high standards for their teachers. This in my opinion is what sets them apart from other private schools and public schools. If you have a child who is less academic or perhaps more into athletics you may want to send them to another private school or public school. If you have a child that is hungry for knowledge or wants to be challenged St. Stephens is the school for you. Down side here is the high cost and though it pains me to say it, the cafeteria food is mediocre but hey you can always pack a lunch!

The school is very progressive with COVID vaccine drives, regular student testing and mask mandate. We appreciate the constant evolution of the school and loving their support of the students. I have found that it is easy to be critical of any collegiate institution when you are very stressed out and at the bottom of the totem poll. THE PROGRAM The school offers two Master's degrees: a Master's of Public Affairs, and a Master's in Global Public Policy. The latter degree was offered for the first time in the 07-08 academic year and has not yet developed its own character. The MPAff is the traditional degree, and requires more quantitative coursework (although some of the 'quant' is at an undergraduate level) than most entering students expect. Both programs take two years to complete. The school also has a PhD program. THE FACULTY The mostly male professors at the school are almost all very intelligent. Many of the faculty are easy to get along with, very well connected, and prestigious in their disciplines. Unfortunately some of the faculty are stereotypical professors: sloppy offices and appearances, ego-maniancs, tough to track down, and constantly shirking responsibility. Since there are so many faculty members, it is possible to avoid many of the ones you don't get along with. THE STUDENT BODY The students (~250) are mostly white, women, liberal, and Master's students. The average age of a student is approximately 27 although there are many recent college graduates. The school has a rumor that incoming classes vary from year-to-year between outgoing and introverted students. Students are mostly respective of one another's opinions, and there is (unfortunately) an almost ubiquitous fear of math. THE STAFF The Office of Student and Alumni Programs (OSAP) is centrally located, and has recently expanded to six staff with a friendly graduate student at the front desk. The OSAP staff is very easy to get along with, and is mostly helpful. The school's librarian is a quirky fellow who can make UT's library system work for you. The technology office is staffed by a cranky lady who sends snide emails to the students about their disregard for the school's printers. The Writing Center lady is almost always excited and encouraging the students to publish their work. The business staff in the school almost never interacts with the students. I almost never feel welcome in the Dean's Office. THE BUILDING AND LOCATION The LBJ School is located on the corner of Dean Keaton and Red River, which is convenient for commuters. The school's location separates it from the University and, subsequently, the undergrad population. The building and surrounding plaza is currently being renovated, and there is no end in sight (or at least there is minimal communication about the status of renovations). The interior of the building is scheduled (?) to be renovated in the 08-09 academic year, and the students are still unsure where classes will be held. The future of the building is promising, but students have yet to see any design drawings. There's more to the school than this review, but I need to get back to doing actual schoolwork instead of just talking about it.

Hello, I finished this class about 2 weeks ago and will give you an in depth report on the class…read moreand how it went for me when I took it, I finished the class with an A, this class is not impossible, far from it, but you will need to commit to it if you want to succeed in it. (TDLR below) -IT IS FAST PACED- If you are looking for the fasted class to get in and get out, then this class is for you, if you need more time to learn things and get the hang of them, this class is not for you. ( most classes range from 4-6 months, this class is a little less than 3 months) -IT IS NOT EASY- This class is not an easy class, don't expect to be able to just skim over the chapter and come to class, you will need to put in the hours to learn the material. There are after hours almost everyday open to all the students who want to review tests, quizzes, need more help understanding a concept, ect. But you have to take those options, along with reading the chapters till you understand them, not just expecting it to be covered in class. -THIS CLASS WILL PREP YOU FOR THE NREMT- This classes final exam is much harder then the NREMT. The quizes you will take in the class are each exceptionally hard, but don't worry they do not account for much on your grade average, they are there to show you what areas you need to improve on, as well as showing you ways the NREMT will try to trick you. I averaged about a 75% on quizzes and still made a 90% in the entire class. -GRADING- There are a many reviews for this academy saying the grading matrix is too hard, its really not, you can afford to fail almost every quiz, score a 75% on half the exams, and still pass the class, the grading matrix is set up to give you a ton of leeway for the harder parts of the class. As long as you do your homework and read the chapters, you can pass. They give you 2 retakes for the exams in case you fail, extra credit, and tell you what will be on the exams. My class started with 30 people, about 15 finished the course, those who did not finished failed out for one of two reasons, attendance or not studying/doing the homework. Only 3 people who failed out for grades were actually trying in the class and needed extra help, the rest either A were not reading the chapters well, or B not going to office hours or using the help given to them, most were both. !!!--Every person who read the chapters and showed up to office hours (with the exception of 1 or 2 people) passed the class, even those who were struggling, failing every quiz, used both of their retakes, and didn't grasp the content very well, passed the class. tdlr USE THE RESOURCES GIVEN TO YOU, YOU WILL BE FINE IF YOU DO SO. those who didnt failed out and left 1 star reviews saying the class was too hard--!!! You are given an absolute ton of information and material to help you pass the class in the website they give you access to when you enroll into he class, you will need to use it, they have study guides for every quiz, exam, and final for the class along with any piece of information you will need to know to get through the class. TDLR. If you cannot give the this class 2 or 3 hours a day to study, cant show up to office hours and read the chapters, do not take this class, take an easier one. If you can and you really want a quick class that will set you up for paramedic school or straight into NREMT then into a job, then you will benefit from this class. --Over all I loved the class and would recommenced it to anyone who want to go straight into paramedic school or into a job.-- Below are areas the class can improve on, and things to look out for if you decide to take this class. 1. There are like 20 instructors who each teach he class differently, some just read from the power point, others compare the material to what you will find in the field, some skip the entire power point entirely to focus on skills, some care a lot about the students and will go an extra mile for them, some genuinely don't give a sh*t about them, some are very kind, others are rude and apathetic. You don't know who or what type of teacher you will get with each day, that was a common complaint in the class, it was too difficult to follow along with the content when each day someone new was presenting it in their own new way. There needs to be more uniformity to the teaching styles, I scored the best on exams and quizzes when Aimee or Tito went over the content, and scored the worst on Exams and quizzes when Roxanne taught. Don't let instructors skip half of the lecture because they don't feel like covering it *cough* Roxanne *cough*. 2. Move patient assessment skills to both the beginning of class and the end. Students need a mental template of how patient interactions will go when they start the class because the book teaches them the material in a way centered around signs and symptoms found in patient assessment. Along with having a few assessment scenarios that are acted out in person.

I had some questions so I emailed the instructor/owner Greg. He answered my questions promptly and was nice on the phone. I got off work early to leave for the class. When I arrived I was surprised the location was a house in Round Rock, for some reason I had assumed it would be a business. Either way, I went to the door. I knocked, I rang, no answer. I tried calling Greg, emailing Greg, no answer. He ditched out, never showed up, never called me back. I found another number through the Email AHA had sent me for the class, and talked with Jana at Savaheart. Even though she had nothing to do with Greg except training him to begin with, she apologized profusely for his behavior. She informed this wasn't the first time this had happened. Apparently Greg is a fire fighter and if a shift opened he would just ditch out on class because fire fighting paid better. He might be a nice guy in person, but he wasted my time, and this is an inexcusable business practice. Don't waste your time!!!! Sign up with someone else!!!
