When asked, he told me he "doesn't normally keep his clients in the loop". Not sure who would be okay with that? --Several inaccuracies and flat out untruths in the one draft document he did prepare. --Darryl took almost no notes and asked me the same questions SEVERAL times. His assistant claimed he was just "trying to see if my answers changed", yet I'm having to pay him ($450/hour) each time. I ended up paying him almost $5,000 before cutting my losses. For that money I got only frustration and no usable product.

However, from the very first set of documents sent to me where all the pronouns were incorrect, to the end where he never truly acknowledged my abuse at the hands of my ex-huband. I have since consulted with another attorney that reinforced my fears that I was not properly represented in my settlement. I am still struggling with the aftermath of this divorce settlement and had to hire another attorney to enforce the divorce decree. I tried to fire him but according to the papers I signed, I would not get my money back so I stuck with him even tho I knew he was not helping my cause. My ex hid all kinds of assets from me and lied about the value of the assets. (I provided video proof of this) He also sold all of our marital property without my consent, the proceeds of which he kept to himself. Purchased a new truck for $56k, sold our marital boat and took $20k from our savings account to pay it off. Mr. Kowtko called it a wash because I took $60k out of my 401k to purchase furniture and obtain an apartment. If you are a woman, do not hire him to represent you in your divorce.

She also changed her address 3 times in 3 years, how could she keep everything straight? Whenever we called in the team needed to talk to me for 15 minutes before they figured out anything about my case, as if I was calling for the first time. During the interactions we did have all I heard about was how amazing her big family was, and no strategy or anything like that for my case. After spending over $10,000 my case was declined, which was actually not that surprising based on the current climate in the United States. I was ready for this to happen, and even though I was not happy I was going to continue with Ms. Riza simply because I'd sunk so much into this already (including my heart and soul, I'm crying while writing this). When I told her I wanted to continue I was finally given the final straw. The lawyer that had taken over $10,000 in payments from me, took my case through the legal system, and ended up with an undesirable result said to me "If you want to appeal this case, you need to be treated as a new client and you will need a new consultation which will require a $150 fee." That was the most impersonal thing about all of this. After dragging my family through this case and ended up not winning she tried to nickel and dime me and get an extra $150 to appeal the case, while reminding me in no uncertain terms that I would have to pay for EVERYTHING again (no kidding!). If you care for your family, look elseware. Ms. Riza does not.
