A complete disappointment from the very beginning less than 5 into the performance. Horrible, awful, uncomfortably long transitions, causing darkness in the whole house at one point for more than 35 seconds. I am embarrassed to say I know someone in the show. It will be a long time before I see the Ballet Theater San Luis Obispo. This performance was so poor, I have considered asking for a refund. Boo to the Director, Choreographer, Stage Manager for subjecting the players to such reticule. The theater SLO PAC was occupied less than 30%, perhaps was a warning sign. The performance was such a disaster we chose to leave at 1st intermission at 45 min mark.

While I never perused a professional career in ballet, Ms Terry taught me lessons of perseverance, hard work, commitment, and disciple that has carried into every aspect of my life. When I left for college in SF and I always loved returning for drop in classes during my school breaks. I've danced in studios in SF and NYC - I have yet to find teachers who are truly committed to your progress and providing professional level technique training for someone like me who just wants to dance without any intention of being professional. I recently moved back to SLO and returned to regular ballet classes and the studio as an adult. It's clear that Ms Terry's training from my youth still lives in my body and muscle memory (even if my body isn't what it used to be lol). Being able to dance and perform again (even despite the hurdles of Covid) has been a life saver to my mental and physical health. The people who dance here and support this small company (all different from when I was a kid) quickly became my community in and out of the studio. It has really helped me settle into SLO again. I'm forever grateful for this company, Ms Terry, and Blair for creating this space, gathering an amazing community, and giving me endless opportunities to follow my passions. I cannot recommend this studio and this company enough to anyone who is interested in ballet. It is a true gem that I've loved for over 18 years!

I first attended their Broadway by the Sea event which featured an outdoor concert on a lavish, beach/cliff side property. Artists were painting, singers were singing, and a gorgeous silent auction area was laid out by the coy pond. Then, they're Young Artists Showcase treated the guests to incredible young local singing talent while enjoying the Madonna Inn's hor d'oeuvres in their beautiful Garden Room. While I haven't been in town long enough to enjoy an opera (yet!), I sincerely look forward to attending one.

My sister and I danced there as children and so did my youngest daughter and two of my nieces. In fact my daughter was there until the doors had to be shuttered and she has refused to dance anywhere else. The owner/teacher is one of the kindest people you'll ever meet. She adored all her dancers. Celebrated their birthdays, and gave little gifts to student for holidays. For the recital she provided quiet activities for the younger students backstage and all her students got a little gift after the recital. As for the one other review on this page, it was written in anger. The daughter was in the same class as my niece, right before my daughter's class. I knew the mom, not well but well enough to know she was a bit dramatic. She was also friends with my sister. The way the studio ran was you could pay to take group lessons (ballet, tap, and jazz- that was one class) and/or you could pay for private lessons for the style of dance your child preferred. If you paid for private lessons your child was guaranteed a solo (or duet or trio) in the recital. My daughter had both group and private lessons. Now if your child was with the studio for 10 years, they had the opportunity to perform a solo in the recital at no extra cost for lessons. The story in the other reviewer told is all a lie, none of it ever happened. I was a witness to what really happened. The studio owner took pictures of the students in their costumes and month or two prior to the recital to put in the program for the recital. On the day pictures were being done my daughters photos were being taken at the same time as her cousins group (partly because my nieces and my daughter had a dance they were doing together so they needed photos in their group costume). The other reviewer was at one time a department store photographer (in her mind that made her a professional photographer) and decided to bring her own camera to the photo session at the dance studio. The studio owner didn't mind parents taking candid photos with their phones, but asked that they refrain from taking pictures with her lighting set up and the students after they were posed for photos. Parents were offered packages for buying photos later to help cover the costs of renting the auditorium for dress rehearsal and the recital and the printing of the program. The other reviewer became increasingly angry when she was asked to stop taking photos with the lighting and poses from directly behind the studio owner. She kept taking photos despite being asked to stop. The mom's camera was also causing the flash to go off messing up the photos being taken by the studio owner. After being asked to stop several times the mom was asked to step out of the studio while the photo session continued. Mom could stand by the door and still watch what was going on inside. Mom wasn't listening still and blew up at the studio owner then stormed off with her poor daughter in tow yelling about suing the studio owner. The daughter didn't come back and at the last minute dances had to be reworked to accommodate for the missing dancer. I feel bad for the daughter. She was a sweet kid and was really enjoying going to dance lessons.

The owner/instructor is a very good woman who genuinely loves her students and does her level best to provide a program commiserate with the interest and skill levels of her students. She has become a good family friend through the years. My sister-in-law and both of her daughters have enjoyed years of lessons at the studio as well. Don't let one negative review sully the honor of a good local business and business owner!

Ended up having to park far away in a shady area of the neighborhood and walk to the venue. Showed up at the door 5 minutes before the show and was tuned away because they were at capacity. If you want to see a show here, take parking in to account. Well try again next time.

However, with the weather on the central coast, we didn't want to send him to an outdoor swimming school. I was so excited when I came across an ad on instagram from 5 Cities Swim School. The indoor heated pool was definitely the determination factor for us. The clean facility and amazing instructors sealed the deal! Nick reached out to me quickly almost as soon as I filled out the information online. I was a little disappointed to find out they didn't have the exact day and time for the class that I was hoping to get our kid in. However, I realized after the 1st week, unless you want your kiddo to have the same instructor every week, it actually doesn't matter what class they're enrolled in. You can always mark them absence and easily request a makeup class for the day and time that work for you. With our crazy rotating schedules and our toddler's starting pre-K soon after he started coming here, we pretty much had a different class and instructor every week. Fortunately, all the instructors follow the same class routine, so our toddler still got to learn and progress quickly even tho he has never gone to the same class more than 2 times lol. The instructors to students ratio here is pretty high, which makes us feel at ease knowing our kid would be safe here. Even for the lowest level that requires at least 1 parent/adult to be in the water with the kiddo, the ratio is still only 1 to 6. I can't say enough good things about this place. If you don't live too far from here and want to look for a great swimming school for your child/children, I highly recommend 5 Cities Swim School!

Each and every time I am gone, the ushers and ticket takers have been super friendly and are more than willing to help if you need anything. The actors are top-notch, giving their best each and every performance. There are some resident actors that you see often in shows, and it's always wonderful to see them mixed with a cast of actors from all over. If you're a fan of a show they're performing and even if you aren't, it is well worth the cost of a ticket to go and spend a night at the theater. 10 out of 10 or recommend.
