Our niece and nephew took an gymnastic class here for five days at the end of summer break, which was a great way to burn off that end of summer energy and learn something at the same time! The interior is nice and spacious, with lots of mat space for the kids. They attended class each day from 8:30 am until 12;30 and we picked them up when they were done to drive them home. We stopped in to watch the last ten minutes or so of class. The class seemed very well organized, with all kids engaged, and being attended to. Our nephew was excited to show us how he had learned a tumbling run ending in a flip in just five days! As a former teacher myself, I appreciated the way that the instructor addressed each child by name, lining them up safely and comfortably to wait outdoors for their parents to pick them up! read more

I wrote a review a few months ago . I got lengthy response with all of a sudden new classes that became " available " after the fact. I had mentioned at the beginning before my sons trial that my son is autistic and therefore is a runner. The class was o.k, the teacher wasn't very warm towards my son or any of the kids actually . She wasn't mean but I would say just a very dry personality for someone who works with children. After I wrote my review about the class being ok but not recommending it for other children that may be special needs because of the fact that they had the doors open and the teacher didn't really Try to assist me when she saw me struggling.. I got an email with all these classes that would be suitable for my son . I was upset that these classes all of a sudden became available until after my review . I responded and then never got anything back . Just feels like I was ignored once again and that person just wanted to be able to check something off their list to say that they "provided" me with more options . I don't feel heard . Again , don't recommend for families with special needs . read more

Best gym on the Central Coast!! My son does Agility classes here and absolutely LOVES it!! Upstairs viewing area with additional space for SILKS and DANCE as well as lower level seating for parents to observe progress and cheer on their little athlete. My 6 year old daughter attended winter camp and has started classes this year and she loves it. The coaches have been great. As a parent, I really appreciate all the COVID-19 protocols that they have had in place and continue to have in place (unlike other SLO gymnastics places, and I've done my research and have had an awful experience at one of them). For instance, all staff and students are required to wear masks indoors, students are instructed to wash their hands with soap and water before they go on the floor and hand sanitize when they leave, students are socially distanced, and doors are open as much as possible for ventilation. I know it's a tough time to run a business during this COVID-19 pandemic , so I am very grateful that Performance Athletics listens to the health experts and believes in science even when it can affect their bottom line. I go to the adult class on weekdays and have found it very fun and as safe as an open gym type class can be. I've been told things like no double flips on the trampolines, and certain ways of jumping into the foam pit were not allowed... and the instructors watch to make sure someone in the gym isn't doing something outside their abilities. I've found the instructors are always helpful when I ask them about something. This class is exactly the type of format I like, since I want to do my own thing mostly... but have the ability to ask about something if I need it. Parents should know that for the kid's classes, they are much more structured having all the kids doing the same exercises under close supervision. Its just the adult classes that are more of a free workout, which again is what most people like. read more

I regularly attend the adult African dance sessions and they are quick to make me feel at home. I then tried the aerial silks class with some friends and the instructor was very cognizant of the varied level of experience in the class. I would go back! I plan to try the adult gymnastics in the near future. read more

My daughter is on the competitive team at Performance Athletics and I can't say enough about how happy we are to be in a gym where the owner, Leslie, really cares about the kids, that they are having fun, getting the training they need and are safe! We have been at PA for 1.5 years now and my daughter is training level 9, which is getting into some crazy skills, but I feel perfectly confident in her coaches, who also love her dearly. Stevie and Jackie are the best. Her teammates are supportive and the families we work with are great. Everyone just wants the best for the kids, which is what you want in a kids competitive sport. The recreational classes are also fun. The gym is large, clean and uncrowded! They have a separate cheer room and preschool room (again, making sure the kids are safe) for the littlest gymnasts. read more

Performance has been a great place for my stepdaughter to make friends, stay active, and be competitive. We have been to and seen other gyms and Performance is one of the better ones. As for the Lauren's review, I have no idea what she's are talking about. My stepdaughter has been going here for years and this is the first I wasn't even aware that they had an adult gymnastics program. I wouldn't rule it out, but probably 95% of their business is ages 4-18 years old and what we have experienced has been all around great for the most part. Like any business, I am sure they try to branch out and perhaps that effort failed, maybe just an off night too. I am not saying she was lying, just that it is like going to Disneyland and complaining about the beer selection. read more

I can not rave about this place enough! We had our first experience here today for my daughters 5th birthday party. The professionalism, organization, leadership and care for the kids was beyond our expectations. They even took down the list of presents and who gave them so we could mail thank you cards. I started taking my 4 year old daughter here after being at Central Coast Gymnastics. My daughter tells me frequently how much better she likes this gym. I like the fact that the coaches stay the same and don't change frequently which is a problem at the other gym. Structure is of the utmost importance to my daughter and change is an issue. So thank you performance athletics gym for not changing the staff every weekend! Also the pricing is good. Down fall of this gym is its FREEZING! little bodies running around without shoes and little clothing. My daughter is always freezing and has red feet and hands she has a clothing sensitivity issue so this is a struggle to try to get her to wear warmer clothing but me as a parent sitting there for an hour freezing is not very fun either! In the past few months, I've taken a few of the adult gym classes here and have really enjoyed my experience so far. Overall, the atmosphere of PA is great; I can do things on my own when I want to and at the same time, whenever I have a question or need help with a move, the staff are right there to show me proper technique. The other people there are also friendly. I can't tell you how many times I've been struggling with a flip and random people will approach me and show me what to do. I'll be moving back to San Diego after this quarter and I can only hope to find a gym with the kind of atmosphere that PA has. My only complaint is that it's not right in the middle of SLO, but honestly it's worth the drive. read more

My son is a competitive gymnast, and has been at Performance for four years now. He started in the recreational class and has moved up into the Team, where is is now entering into season as a Level 6. We tried the other gym in town, but my son didn't like it and wanted to stop gymnastics, so we did. When he wanted to start again, we tried PA. He LOVED it. The coaches are knowledgeable, friendly and willing to teach these kids. The gym is clean, the equipment is wonderful, and the feeling in the gym is open and airy. When we joined team, it was exactly what we anted. The coaches were driven and safe, the other boys were welcoming and helpful and it was family. Leslie, the owner of the gym, TRULY cares about your child and your family, your child's well being is her first concern. If you are looking for a gym for your child, competitive or recreational, try this one. They also have adult gym, and some dance classes and kid's karate...I have never done any of them however, so I can't really say anything about them...try them out though! They look fun! read more

There are SO many great things to say about Performance. I have been taking my little one here for about 6 months. Being a toddler, I have to admit that she was not a big fan of gymnastics (in general) at first. But the coaches here were so patient and encouraging that she has come to love gymnastics now --it's literally all she talks about! They do a great job at having a new little course for the kids every week. It's never the same program two weeks in a row, which makes it interesting for my curious toddler. The coaches know when to encourage, but also when to tell the kids that they can try to do something else. They are encouraging, not pushy. We also hosted a birthday party here with about 20 kids and 40 adults and Performance did an amazing job!! Everyone was super friendly and highly energetic, but real and down to earth. The coaches were spot on with remembering the names of the kids and made them feel welcomed. They were helping us with all of the food that we brought and helping serve the whole time. They made the entire day special for all of our family and friends. There are several great gymnastics studios in SLO, but Performance has been the best one that we've found! read more

i have been taking my daghter to PA on and off for two years. The instructors are positive and encouraging in their coaching. The atmosphere is fun and safe. I like that I can watch the practices and I am able to see what is going on in the classes at all times. I like that they let us make up classes if we have to miss one week. My kids are 2 and 4, so we were not looking for hardcore gymnastics. It is a fun place with friendly, supportive instructors. I gave PA 5 stars because we had an amazing experience there! My daughter had pretty much given up on gymnastics and lost faith in her coaches at another local gym. We gave PA a chance and she quickly found her passion for Compulsory Gymnastics again. We love that when there was an issue or concern, the owner is quick to resolve it. Leslie takes the time to listen and is honest, where as the other gym we came from was a big mess and no one had the same story. PA is straight forward and you know that you are getting your money's worth. I also love that they have a boosters system run by the parents! When your child starts team, you can be a part of a great parent support system and you actually know where your money is going. Although my oldest daughter has moved on and is very involved in high school sports, I know the professional training she got at PA has carried her through a variety of sports. I look forward to taking my younger two to PA in the near future! read more
