Below average "family" restaurant with below-par service and food. We were surprised this restaurant was well reviewed the moment we arrived. The children stacked at tables with birthday balloons killed any hope for an upscale, chic experience along with the incessantly pulsing canned stock music playing on the sound system. Our waiter could not be less attentive. When he finally rolled around to take our order we gave him our entire order to get our dinner prep going. Appetizers came out -- Yellowtail Crudo, Watermelon Feta Salad and Saganaki, which was poorly plated and not very good. And then, we waited again. For a long time. For our main course. I watched our waiter emerge from the kitchen -- a couple of times -- chewing on food he had grabbed for himself while in the kitchen, but empty-handed and no sign of our meals (nor a check in with us to say there was a delay). Finally, our dishes arrived -- Lamb (very undercooked, like almost raw -- our waiter never asked what temperature we wanted our meat cooked), Aubergine (eggplant) which was good; and sea bass which was good but diminutive in size. We asked for the lamb to be done a little more towards medium rare, so he took it away. The lamb returned pretty quickly, and must have been scorched on a grill until it was well done on one side. Though it hardly mattered because when we each tried a piece, it was clear how grisly, fatty and low quality the meat was to begin with. Our waiter never returned again to ask how everything was, or if we wanted anything else to drink. Just an awful experience. We couldn't wait to get out of there.
There are so many wonderful and unique dining experiences to be had in this food mecca of a city. Delphine is NOT one of them. read more
