Nature Center is great. Perfect trails for all ages. Restrooms and refreshments available. I did the Half mile boardwalk loop trail which is very shaded, so it wasn't feeling too hot. Very tropical. Felt like it was actually misting but no rain. Lots of water under the walkway. It's a Lush forest. Then I did the 1 mile loop prairie trail plus an extra 300 yard loop trail off the prairie trail. Overall a nice forest. Check it out if you haven't been. It's free and plenty of parking was available on a Saturday. They Even had a cleaning station with a water hose and foot scrubber to clean your shoes on the way out.

We weren't able to explore the whole property during our visit on account of lightning. We came for the BioBlitz event, and explored the mangrove shoreline, the butterfly garden and the mini aquarium. We did not get to walk the boardwalk or climb the observation tower, but I'd like to return to explore those areas another day. Staff (volunteers) are very knowledgeable, and the events they host are geared toward children between 5-12.

The nature walks are short too. And it's very accessible. Even a ramp all the way up to the look out point so people in wheel chairs can view too. It's shaded from all the mangroves and palms. And the tree that it's named after gumbo limbo! Which is a red tree that peels We attended the free 10:00 am tour which lasted an hour. It was mostly the tour guide talking who is a volunteer and very nice. Very enthusiastic. It was a little drawn out and we stoped every 10 steps but worth it. I took the stopping moments to take everything in and even spotted huge spiders. I forgot what they are called but there are the biggest ones I have seen and they are all over. He said they can bite but it's like a bee sting and not poisonous. And they stay off the path anyway. There are huge tanks of really big fish. The barracuda is huge and has the cleanest teeth. These fish are fed well. The place is kept very clean, there are a lot of staff to answer your questions. And there is someone even cleaning the outside of the tanks. They also have a sea horse tank. The butterfly garden is small, saw some zebra butterflies and I think a cardinal bird. You can walk towards the inlet and there is a small peaceful beach and picnic area that is covered. Parking lot is small but plenty of parking on a Tuesday morning at 9:30, but the time we left at 11:30 it was filled and there was a school bus. Figure 1.5 to 2 hours here. They also have a fish feeding at 12:30 but we were done before then. Would come back again!

On the day I visited the ladies working were very friendly and eager to assist. Even as a local I learned something new. There is an upcoming event, the Lauderdale-By-The-Sea Garden Club Fundraiser that I am interested in attending and a Farmer's Market held in El Prado Park. Unfortunately the Chamber of Commerce is only open during the week or I would probably stop by more often.

It's located on A1A, maybe about 3 or 4 blocks from the main intersection of Commercial and A1A. Not a far walk or drive from the many restaurants, bars and hotels in the area. The place is not too big, but they do have lots of information on things to do in LBTS as well as people to help if you have any questions. The center also have many coupons for restaurants and attractions in the area. Why visit this town???? If there was ever a Norman Rockwell-style painting done of a South Florida beach town, it would look like Lauderdale-By-The-Sea. This cozy little village exudes retro Florida charm with its low-rise buildings and mid-century style architecture. Not only is the 2.5 mile beach beautiful and unspoiled, but you can snorkel or dive right from shore. Recognized as "South Florida's Beach Diving Capital," the near-shore reefs are just 100 yards off the coastline. In fact, the 1900 SS Copenhagen steamship shipwreck is now the most-visited Underwater Archaeological Preserve in Florida, listed on the National Register of Historic Places. The downtown Beach Pavilion and plazas are right alongside the beach and stretch for several blocks west, past State Road A1A. It's a haven for people-watching and socializing. Hotels, shops, restaurants, ice cream parlors and live entertainment are all within breezy walking distance. You can rent a bike or hop on the free "around Town" Pelican Hopper bus. We saw several gopher tortoise holes along the paths here. This park is managed by Environmental Resources Management, and at the front is the usual signage with maps and also large pictures of the wildlife and plants you might see here. These parks are all over the County and especially in more urban areas, which I appreciate.

Inside I had the pleasure of meeting and chatting with Jo and Randee who not only told me everything that is going on but also sent me on my way with a bag full of magazines, maps, brochures, and happenings. The Chamber of Commerce can help you find all of the wonderful events in the city and best places to eat. I am especially looking forward to the Witches Ride down Atlantic Avenue and the Parade of Costumes. If you have kids don't miss Trick or Treating on the Ave. The ladies also told me about Nature's Palette, Art Inspired by the Earth, a new glass exhibit at the Cornell Art Museum. There is always something culturally cool going on in Delray Beach and the Chamber of Commerce is just the organization to help businesses thrive, foster people meeting each other, and plug you in to the best of what the city has to offer.

This place is an absolute gem in Palm Beach County -- a stunning 1.5-mile boardwalk winding through…read more100 acres of constructed wetlands, and every step of the way there is something to take in. Informational plaques are posted throughout, making it easy to learn about the native trees and bird species you encounter along the walk. The boardwalk is also stroller and wheelchair friendly, so it truly is a place for everyone! Come prepared: hat, sunscreen, and binoculars are a must, and don't forget your walking shoes. If you live nearby and love the outdoors, this is also the perfect spot to get your steps in while soaking up nature and staying active -- a workout that doesn't feel like one! My husband and I originally planned a quick visit and ended up staying for nearly three hours -- this place has a way of pulling you in. We chose to walk the boardwalk first and save the nature center for last, but if you're visiting from out of area or just want more context before you explore, I'd recommend flipping that order. The nature center is packed with information about the wetlands ecosystem, the wildlife that calls it home, and the fascinating history of the site itself -- none of which I knew before visiting. Grab a map before you head out! On our walk, we spotted an alligator gliding through the pond, turtles, and an impressive variety of bird species. The sounds were incredibly peaceful, and the stretches of shaded tree hammocks offered the perfect reprieve from the sun. We came across Gumbo Limbo trees, sabal palms, and strangler figs among other beautiful native species. It was truly a magical experience, and I cannot wait to come back!

One is about a mile and the other a half mile. As it was raining, we didn't get to venture out into much of it. But you can see beautiful greenery with many of the plants and trees marked with name plaques, the gorgeous lake with diving birds, and the small covered huts part way round. We saw a number of walkers in jogging outfits exercising before, after and during their boardwalk walks. We saw the butterfly garden, and the weather station. There are supposedly alligators here too but I'm glad we missed them! What a wonderful bit of natural Florida right here.

It was initially built using bond money from numerous sources that were voted on by the people; in the year 2000, the tolls were supposed to have paid off the highway and removed, and to this day, 20 years later, the tolls remain. The voters that voted The expulsion of the turnpike fees in the year 2000 or are most likely dead and can't speak for themselves. Consider that when you vote for a long-term bond, once they got your money, they never let go. In defense of the politicians, the turnpike has expanded from the original 262 miles stretcher from Miami to Wildwood, and the roads are in pretty decent shape

We vacation for at least one month out of the year own a condo on Daytona Beach for Bike Week, and a gold crown condo on Bourbon Street in the French Quarter. worst part about a tall is what I booked a year and a half ago is not even part of the deal anymore as they sunk the original cruise ship we were supposed to have a window cabin for! It a shady RCI booking company.. do not do business with them unless you love wasting 3 days of your life, like we have with a six month baby in tow.. :-( ( I forgot to mention due to them changing our tour date, we are now running late for our cruise ship boarding and vacation village the timeshare sellers.. also since we had to drive all over Fort Lauderdale following the seller from condo to condo we wound up breaking our $1,200 stroller.... not happy NOT HAPPY AT ALL. That we might have bought into had has not been a problem Oh I forgot to tell you about the biggest lie of them all... All your meals are covered during the presentation. No what they give you are vouchers that don't even cover the cost of one meal!! $31 for a continental breakfast for two that's free for most hotels and all they covered was $14 of it so no meals are not included I'm afraid to even think what they're all inclusive would mean
