I have been a Delta Community Credit Union member for 35 years and intend to remain one for life. Nearly all of my experiences have been positive. I am writing because one policy I encountered had a direct and unnecessary negative financial impact on DCCU, and I hope senior leadership will review it. A few years ago, my father passed away with a DCCU checking account, savings account, and a $30k personal loan. The account balances were minimal, and I was prepared to pay off the remaining loan promptly from his estate. His estate was held in a trust specifically to avoid probate. I was the trustee and executor, with full legal authority to access estate funds and pay outstanding debts. When I contacted DCCU to obtain the loan payoff balance and payment address, I was told that DCCU would not even discuss the loan unless the estate went through probate. This requirement made no legal or practical sense. A trust exists precisely to avoid probate, which is expensive and time-consuming. Requiring probate defeats the purpose of the trust and places an unnecessary burden on the estate. As a result, DCCU effectively refused to allow me to pay off the loan. I was told I would need to spend thousands of dollars going to court simply to be authorized to pay a debt--before DCCU would even tell me how much was owed. Faced with that situation, I chose not to pursue probate, and the loan was ultimately treated as bad debt. This outcome was entirely avoidable and financially harmful to DCCU. I was willing and able to pay the loan in full immediately. For comparison, I contacted two other financial institutions where I currently have personal loans. Both confirmed they would provide payoff information to an executor or trustee upon presentation of proper documentation. DCCU is the only institution I have encountered that requires probate solely to allow a loan to be paid. I hope this explanation makes clear that the issue is not confusion about roles or documentation, but a policy that prevents legitimate estates from settling debts efficiently. I encourage DCCU leadership to review and update this policy so that loans can be paid by trustees or executors without requiring probate when a valid trust is in place. This change would benefit both DCCU and its members. It would prevent unnecessary loan losses and ensure that, when I pass away, any debts I have with DCCU can be settled quickly and responsibly by my estate--without forcing my beneficiaries into court proceedings that trusts are specifically designed to avoid. read more

I've been banking with DCCU since the 1980's. After this experience, I won't ever again. I got emails from the bank warning of suspicious activity on my account. I called in twice to confirm everything was secure since I wasn't doing anything to trigger the emails. I was assured it was all fine and probably a scam email. The next day I was alerted by another email stating my transfer (that I DID NOT INITIATE) was declined. When I called in again, I found out that 17 transfer attempts were made within minutes of each other. I wasn't notified by DCCU about any of them but the final one. No one can tell me why the system didn't flag that activity and make efforts to block it. No one can tell me why I didn't receive notification with each attempt. Its been a run around of getting incorrect information in trying to get this resolved. They dropped the ball and lost all of my trust. read more

Customer service and products are 5 stars. They will always try to help you, especially if you go to a branch and are kind in your approach. Online is not so good. Responsive but dry and not really giving enough time to correspond without closing a ticket. BUT this review is about their software. The software is not practical if you want to work digitally for expense and budgeting. By default, their filter will not let you go back more than 6 months. The advantage of the filter is that you can then download all of the register transactions then sort by date or payee or amount in a CSV file. This is huge for sorting out your own personal budgeting or expenses for taxes, especially by payee. But if you wait until December or January and then try to filter for all of 2025 and download into a convenient CSV file, you are out of luck. If you want to have the information digitally, you have to do it twice, in June and December, and then blend the files. This is STUPID. They will tell you because of security, but that is not true. There is absolutely no reason to limit data to 6 months. They will tell you to download statements, but good grief!! Then you would have to manually enter each month into spread sheet. STATEMENTS ARE ONLY PDF's. THIS IS A REALLY ARCHAIC SYSTEM. It does work fine otherwise and is laid out well and bill pay is easy to use. If you do not monitor your expenses and save them to your PC for tax purposes, it lacks the appropriate flexibility. read more

I've only experienced incompetence from this CU. I've banked with nothing but CUs and this has been my worst experience with them. There seems to be a different answer to the same problem from 5 different people. For example, I had direct deposit set up from my place of employment I started working at in May of 2019. Four of my Six checks never made it into my account with no reason as to why. It seemed randomly, deposits just disappeared. It's not like the company that my employer uses changed the information needed to make the direct deposit, the info had been the same the whole time but only two of my checks made it into my account? I called and talked to three different people who all told me three different things to do to try and find the money. I found the info needed and then was told that it's not their responsibility but my employers? The money was GONE they were not going to try and pay me again. THEY DID PAY ME and the money was just in the wrong place for no reason. After two weeks of arguing with the different people in the ACH department I figured out all I had to do was bug the manager a couple of times and somehow she managed to easily find the missing deposit with the info I had been giving her department for days, and put it in my account. Maybe train your employees better? They all seem incredibly uneducated on how your business runs. They also seem to be more interested in being right than providing a service to the people who are GIVING YOU MONEY. Leaving this place as soon as I can for sure. read more

NPWH = Nice People Work Here I've been anti-bank since before it was popular and I went without a checking account for years (I know what you're thinking and it's possible - you just need American Express Bluebird or a Walmart Money Card). After lots of research and consideration, I told myself that if I ever decide to enter the adult world of writing checks again, I would use a credit union. As luck may have it, I lived across from this location for almost 2 years and walked in last year to give it a try. Two of my favorite services are the free coin counting and their counter check option. They're actually real checks that they'll print as a courtesy (4 per sheet/8 at a time). My husband and I use DCCU as our primary bank and even take advantage of some of their discounts available with other companies like Travelers Insurance. We recently financed our used car purchase through DCCU and got an OUTSTANDING interest rate and 5 year warranty for peace of mind. The whole process was fairly painless and was accomplished in about a day after applying online the night before. The employees at this location always offer friendly service and do their best to get you in and out quickly. Do NOT do business here. I tried to apply for an auto loan. Great credit score, all ducks in a row, large down payment, etc. had my sh** together. Well, I had a horrible phone communication with a loan officer (in the call center) named Julie. She wasn't any help at all and lied about me signing a title for this car already. She also spoke badly about the dealer who I was trying to purchase the car from, which so happens to be my husband who has been in business for 4 years, AND a customer of theirs. When trying to close the deal after bringing more paperwork, speaking to the loan manager, and other head honcho's, I STILL needed to change paperwork. I was told to drive to get paperwork changed then come back. When after everything was said and done, the paperwork wouldn't have been an issue. Bottom line, the staff at the branch did an "ok" job to help, but the whole experience was a disaster. I did not feel welcome here, NOR a customer. Guess they didn't want my business. There are a lot of details that are not listed (because they are private) but this was a horrible experience and nothing went right. I went to Wells Fargo right across from them and had a wonderful experience there. AND they were super helpful in my car loan. read more

On Tuesday, 9/28/21 at 2:33pm, I called to discuss an extra charge on my account from Home2Suites dated on the 27th of September. I spoke to Kendra and she was nothing short of horrible!! I conferenced in the Regional Director of Hilton to speak to Kendra and I was so embarrassed as Kendra was short and nasty to her. She didn't even want to look further into the matter. She gave me the policy and procedure with no regard to my issue! I asked to speak to her Supervisor then she placed me on hold for about 5 minutes as she was supposed to me connecting me. She comes back in the phone saying her Supervisor stated the same thing about the policy and procedures. The Regional Manager asked would I receive a temporary credit while it takes 10 days to file a claim and Kendra never answered the question. She merely explained the policy and procedures again as if she didn't already state it one than once! The Regional Manager asked the question again as it is was never answered. Kendra (very rudely) repeated the policy and procedures again, beginning her statement with "Like I said"! I interrupted and I got the Regional Manager off the phone because I was even more embarrassed by now and I asked to speak to Kendra's Supervisor again! She put me on hold then came back on the line muting the call then it hung up! I went to the Branch and spoke to the Manager there who confirmed that Kendra cold transferred me to the dispute department instead of transferring me to her Supervisor! I don't want the Team Lead to handle this, I want the Call Center Manager to look into this because this is totally unacceptable! I already have to deal with a $600 error on my account. The hotel points to the bank and the bank points to the hotel which is even more frustrating! THEN to add insult to injury, I have to deal with a rude agent who has the pleasure to work from home, who probably doesn't want to work but needs the money! I work in Customer Service currently and I have experience in both Management as well as being an agent! Kendra needs to be written up or terminated because she doesn't want to work! Nightmare used car loan process. Honestly I don't think you can complete a transaction unless buyer and seller are sitting in the office. Bill of sale form has a major error in that they want their name (DECU) as a Lien holder for the seller. My seller won't sign that. The online line loan app form is via a 3rd party which takes you down a totally different path with a different logon. I give up. Looking for a new credit union. Killed 2 hours of a busy Saturday AM for their incompetence. read more

Originally I was a huge fan of this bank, visited the Marietta location and they were all super friendly and I could not wait to bank with them, unfortunately I did not fit the residency requirements. I recently moved to an area they service and was so glad to be able to leave my previous credit union who had in my opinion given me bad customer service from the start. Unfortunately I went to this Atlanta location of DCCU instead of the Marietta one, as it is closer and I figured they should still have the same friendly people, right? The wait time was pretty horrible, thankfully they did have coffee to drink while waiting (they do have a really nice setup for that). Once I finally got to talk to someone, they told me I didn't have the correct address verification requirements, annoying, but I guess I can understand that. They told me what I needed to bring the next time I came in so I could finally open the account I was approved for online. At the same time, I inquired about their ability to get money from the pay card I get paid on from work (Comdata) and the person I spoke with was unsure, so spoke to a supervisor who told her that I could use it at a teller or the atm but the teller would charge a fee, however, the atm would not. Upon exiting the building, I decide to use the atm to make a withdrawal and it states very clearly there is a $3 fee on their end, plus whatever my card might charge as well. Did it anyway as I needed the money as it's a pain to have no local bank account as well as the only source of money being the card. A few days later I have the address verification forms needed, so I return to the bank on one of my few days off. After waiting, I am informed that there are additional things that I need to do that were not mentioned by the associate I spoke with last time. So they still can't open the account for me. I want to like this bank, they were so amazing at the Marietta location, however this has been nothing but a waste of time and hassle to try to open an account here so far, so I'm looking elsewhere. The worst banking experience I've ever had in my life. RUN! 1. I consistently have 3-4 instances of fraud on my account each year. However, I'm never notified. I've always had to stumble upon it. The charges, which were made internationally and over $300, were never flagged to me. 2. Terrible customer service. They never take responsibility or work to resolve issues and make customers happy. For instance, I initiated a fraud investigation, filed the proper documentation inside a branch and was refunded the next day. To my knowledge, the process was complete, as that was what was communicated and explained to me. However, three months later, I had that same amount (almost $600) taken BACK out of my account by the bank, with no notification or explanation - I had to AGAIN randomly come across it and make several phone calls to figure out what had even happened. There was constant miscommunication between general customer service reps and financial analysts, who blamed me for not filing the paperwork within a given time and saying Visa cancelled the investigation because they did not receive that information. The CSR said I could've found this communication on my app or online banking via the secure email service, yet the fraud analyst said the documentation would be sent via mail and not by them. I never received the paperwork (not sure if it was lost in the mail, lost in translation during a move, or what). I was never sent any kind of heads-up notice, phone call from them or any reminder to be sure and have this very important documentation signed and delivered. They offered me NO other solution, besides calling the merchant, which is Walmart MoneyGram. Total nightmare. I will probably not get that $600 back. This was after speaking to a customer service rep, fraud analyst, assistant branch manager and branch manager in vining's. If you're in the mood to lose money or deal with people who blame you for their lack of communication, miscommunication or overall competencies as a financial institution, then this is the bank for you. I was looking for a credit union to finance a car. I made an appointment online set for 11:30. I came into the bank early and told the man up front I had an appointment at 11:30 and that i'm a new customer and don't have an existing account- my purpose for the visit was to talk about finance options. He told me to have a seat and someone would be with me. The bank got busier and busier. People were coming in and going to meet with bankers before I was able to. I understand having to wait however if an appointment is set, I don't think it's professional to make someone wait 30+ minutes. read more

This has to be the biggest waste of my time. This has happened to me at least three times this year, and looking back at it...about five times last year. Something I don't have the time for, and shouldn't have to call the bank every time for this reason. What has happened is, a bill, as usual, was taken out of my account like it is this time every month, there was two dollars and change left in my account and what did Delta do, they took out a $35 withdrawal fee. Why? I can go back again, 5 to 7 times in the last two years this is happened and show them exactly the same thing. Why are they taking out my money? And why every time that I call I get disconnected by someone who has no idea what the hell they're doing? I then have to call back and then told I'm going to get a call from someone from the bank within 2 to 3 business days about this transaction. Why can't you just put my money back on the account? This is such an inconvenience and so unprofessional. I've never had this many issues with a credit union before in my life. Being in Georgia and having to use Delta, not my choice to begin with, and I hope in the future it won't be. I am beyond upset about the situation. I can see if it was the first time, maybe the second time, but it's definitely not. 5 to 7 times this is happened to me, and I can't take it anymore. read more

Friday November 25th 2016 at 4 o'clock p.m. I arrived at Delta Community Credit Union in Vinings. 3250 Riverwood pkwy Atlanta Georgia. I was really excited to drop the regular bank account, to open up a credit union membership checking and savings. But I had to wait about 30 minutes before I can see the representative. She came out and got me all nice and smiling I was excited. Once I got into her cubicle she was a Latino so she's been there for 20 years of service butt she turned her cubicle into an interrogation room she treated me so cruelly and so disrespectful she interrogated me throughout the whole process. I had all the documents my driver's license my driver's license my social security card even for a piece of mail with my old bank statements so she will know that it's me she didn't believe I was who I was on my driver's license I have passed all the entries that you passed just to open up a savings and checking account. But this lady I didn't know her name. she didn't give me her name she mistreated me So corporate office is this the way you train your people to interrogate people and treat them and belittle them she asked me about my light bills back in the day she asked me about do you know about all these people you owe on your credit I'm looking at her like really I told her I really have to go through all this just open up a checking and savings I said the bank doesn't do this type of stuff I told her she hurt my feelings and made me feel unwanted today she was passing the race card how dare you pass the race card yur from Mexico I am a United States citizen born right here at Grady Memorial Hospital not outside the country. I just want to say to you Miss Lady she didn't give me her card. she was afraid to do that and my sister been a member of the credit union for 20 years she told not tell my sister she treated awful!
