Hi, I want to thank…read moreGiulian for coming to my house yesterday. He is a very pleasant young man, and he had a camera and explained to me what's causing the blockage (roots) and gave me a quote for replacing the old pipe. I will definitely keep it in mind and hire Sewer Squad when I decide to go ahead with the work. I highly recommend their services. Emma

I am extremely disappointed with my experience with Sewer Squad, particularly because I hired them…read moreat one of the most difficult and vulnerable times a homeowner can experience. After suffering two back-to-back floods, I hired Sewer Squad to install a backwater valve because the City of St. Catharines offers the FLAP grant program. On Sewer Squad's recommendation, I also agreed to have a sump pump installed. Before proceeding, I brought the FLAP program information directly to Giulian. He reviewed it and assured me they understood the requirements and could support the process. I was also specifically told that Sewer Squad handled the necessary permits and related requirements. That did not happen. To my shock, I discovered that no plumbing permit had been applied for, and the requirements necessary for the FLAP program had not been properly completed. I ultimately had to go onto the City of St. Catharines website myself, apply and pay for the plumbing permit, and submit the FLAP application. This is particularly serious because you cannot simply arrange the required City plumbing inspection without the proper permit. Even worse, my home flooded for a THIRD time after Sewer Squad completed this work. Over the following two weeks, I dealt with multiple emails, conversations and explanations from Sewer Squad that simply did not line up with what I was subsequently learning from the City and the inspector. I discovered that the sump pump did not have the backup I believed was required and that it was not connected to the weeping tile system. Then came the latest unbelievable situation: Sewer Squad did not show up for the plumbing inspection. The inspection failed. The work necessary for it to pass had not been completed, and Sewer Squad has still not returned to properly resolve the outstanding issues. I contacted the City inspector myself, and he confirmed to me that Sewer Squad knew what needed to be done before he could return to reinspect the work. I am also still waiting for the required camera footage that I need for my insurance company and the inspector. Because this remains unresolved, I have now had to hire another company to take over the work and retain a lawyer. What makes this experience especially upsetting is the timing. Our family was dealing with repeated flooding, sewage damage and enormous stress. This was exactly when we needed to be able to trust the professionals we hired. I also wish I had been more cautious after hearing discussions about offering "cash" deals to people who did not have insurance coverage. In hindsight, that should have raised concerns for me. I am sharing this review because homeowners dealing with flooding are already overwhelmed. When hiring a company for a backwater valve, sump pump or work connected to a municipal grant program, verify the permit yourself, confirm exactly what is included in writing, confirm the installation meets the City's requirements, and make sure all inspections are completed before considering the job finished. My experience with Sewer Squad has resulted in additional expense, additional stress, a failed inspection, another flood, another contractor being brought in to address the work, and now legal involvement. After everything our family has already been through, this experience has been absolutely awful.

I really don't like putting down a local business but this was the worst service I ever experienced in my life. Absolutely disrespectful, no communication from the plumber. I don't want other people to go through this.

They sent someone out and told me I didn't need to stay home, as the plumber could handle the job independently. Big mistake. I came home to an utter disaster. My brand new floors had marks, the bathroom looked like a war zone, and to top it all off -- they used my son's school uniform from the laundry basket to wipe up gunk from the floor. They even used one of my face towels to clean the mess. As a caregiver and mother, I had to clean up their filthy work late at night and try to salvage my son's uniform for school the next morning. When I called to complain, the owner, Jason, had the nerve to tell me, "At least it was the shower and not the toilet," and "At least the uniform didn't have fecal matter." That's their standard of professionalism? They threw me a $200 credit as if that would fix the sheer disrespect and unprofessional behavior. No integrity. No accountability. No care for customers.

I would not recommend this company. They cancelled 3 times over six weeks and then showed up when…read morethey weren't supposed to. When they serviced my furnace, the technician said it was deficient and that it either had to be repaired or replaced. A B tag was put on it and Embridge gas was contacted. That means I had 90 days to fix the furnace or the gas would be shut off in our house. The repair bill oddly was more expensive than to replace which is quite odd. Repair was 7000. Replace was 5000. Who would you choose to repair when they can get a new one for cheaper? I decided to get a second opinion and the registered technician said it was a scam and the furnace did not need to be replaced or fixed. He had the B tag removed. He also said the quote for the repair was way above what it should be.

Extremely disappointed with Doyle Plumbing - unprofessional and unfair…read more Although the landlord arranged the call, I (the tenant) paid the full invoice. Despite this: Doyle refused to provide me - the actual paying customer - with any information, photos, or report about the blockage. They blamed my small pizza/wing shop for a grease clog, claiming it was "consistent with restaurant use." We do not cook with oil or fat, wipe all pans with paper towel before washing, and our grease trap was almost empty after 3 years use when cleaned days earlier. The section of piping in our store has a one way valve installed that would have likely plugged first, yet our plumbing was clear. Residential grease, laundry detergent, food waste, etc. from upstairs is far more likely. An apprentice/helper completely misrepresented a conversation, falsely telling the landlord I said our grease trap was "installed backwards" (I never said that - it was a hypothetical question to the grease trap cleaner asking what would happen if installed backwards - to which his reply was, "nothing would happen"). They failed to clear the line properly the first time and had to return, yet I was still charged for both visits. Zero transparency, inaccurate blame on my business, and poor service. I paid the bill but was treated like I didn't matter. Will never use Doyle Plumbing again and cannot recommend them. Disappointed paying tenant - Newtonville, ON
