Some of it was waterlogged so it weighed more than it should've (which didn't even occur to me) so I offered to pay more than he'd quoted since he'd make less profit after going to the dump. He refused and stuck to his original quote. Also, I don't know how he managed to fit everything in the back of his truck, but he did, tied it down well and covered it with a tarp so nothing would fly out while driving. He was super clear about taking it to the dump, so I know this stuff won't end up on the side of the road somewhere or dumped in the woods, too many people do that so they don't have to pay the dump fees. He worked quickly and was done loading in about a half hour. At least half of that time was spent rearranging stuff in the back of his truck so it would all fit and could be tied down. I'm holding onto his number! I will definitely use him again! Totally professional, courteous, and hardworking, I have only good things to say! Jose REQUIRED 50% deposit PLUS cost of materials up front. HUGE RED FLAG! His team destroyed my under deck roofing panels ($$) with poor cuts and improper installation. I let Jose know that I was not satisfied with the quality of work. It was quite evident they did NOT know how to properly install the product. I had to share a video with him to show how the product should have been installed. He said he would "make it right." Fast-forward - he has since stopped responding to my texts and has obviously blocked my calls. I wish I had read Tasha C. review prior to hiring. Apparently he has a history of taking advantage - he chases money but does not deliver the product. LESSON LEARNED: Make sure they know how to do the work. Do your research before hiring any contractor. Check references. Require proof that they have done and can do the work you need done. And NEVER HIRE JOSE RIVAS - JL PAINTING to do any of your projects. HE IS IN IT FOR THE 50% UPFRONT AND THEN HE RUNS IF HE DOES NOT WHAT TO COMPLETE THE TASK.

The day after I paid them a third of their service price (per the contract), they just stopped coming and didn't call. I gave them three weeks to contact me. They left the floors unfinished, the plumbing open, doors left to be installed, holes in the ceiling where they tried to find their mistakes with the electrician and new walls unfinished. I now need to find another contractor to fix the mess. Even though I continually asked for them to wear their masks, I would check on them and find that they were not wearing masks. They were also smoking right outside my basement door and that made my house smell like cigarettes! They broke my blinds and said that they would replace them only to disappear. Do not hire these people! If you do, don't pay them until they're done I've never seen business done like this!!

I called the 800 number on Nov. 3 and it was clear that it wasn't an office but some manner of call service that plugged me in with another individual. The gentleman was pleasant enough and said that a tech would call me before EOD. I received a TEXT from Abi, not a call, at 6:08 pm. I never had someone text me instructions about a potential home visit before but, as I'm desperate for repairs, I went with it despite my reluctance. I asked in the text to have the tech please share their license and credentials. I don't know these people. I just needed to know who I'm letting into my home. I received a call from a gentleman I assumed to be the owner or operator who took umbrage at me asking for the credentials of the tech, and proceeded to call it "weird" (that is the word he used) that I'd ask since, and I quote, "all we're doing is an estimate." I don't care if you were building the Ark of the Covenant divined by God himself, I am not letting someone in my home without knowing fully who they are. Call it paranoia, call it weird as that person did, but they can take that attitude and go the other way. I'll find someone else.
