I've read some of the reviews and I have to say that has not been my experience. every one that I have dealt with has been very nice and treated me with the utmost care are kindness. I have had Reiki, massages and acupuncture. All the services were professional and excellent. I really appreciate them and want people to know that they are very helpful at a difficult time in my life. they are giving me something I couldn't have if it wasn't for them. They deserve respect and appreciation not derogatory remarks that seem to want to hurt the service that is trying to help bring some peace to people with cancer and their families. They only want to help on the surface. Not helpful with therapy...they have a high turnover. Christine in S Portland is not compassionate, kind of a bitch and shouldn't be in charge. read more

What a top notch place for cancer patients and their families. Mary Dempsey is one of the nicest and most caring people I've ever met. I have so much to learn on what the many, many things they do, but for now this short review to tell all what a great place this is. They offer counseling, physical therapy just to start. I will update later when I educate myself with them. Please, if you are thinking of making a contribution to a great cause, check them out. I October every year, they have a marathon through the city of Lewiston Maine to raise money and awareness of every single type of cancer. People even plan vacations around it, because its so fantastic. read more

Founded in Lewiston, Maine by actor Patrick Dempsey, the Dempsey Center provides a personalized, holistic and integrated approach to cancer prevention, education and support. All services are provided at no cost to anyone impacted by cancer regardless of their socioeconomic circumstances or where they receive their medical treatment.

History

Established in 2008.

In response to his mother's multiple bouts with ovarian cancer, Dempsey founded the Dempsey Center in Lewiston, Maine in 2008 with the intention of giving back to the community where he grew up, and where his mother first received cancer treatment. The Dempsey Center improves the quality of life for individuals, families and communities impacted by cancer through free support, education, complementary therapies, and prevention. Dempsey returns to Maine each fall for the Center's signature run, walk, and cycle fundraising experience, the Dempsey Challenge presented by Amgen®.

I witnessed a tech speak rudely to another patient in the waiting room about confidential information, she was visibly uncomfortable and embarrassed. I felt so bad for her. We come here because we had a very real, very concerning reason. Only to be treated with snark and contempt. You should be ashamed of yourselves. I will NOT be returning.
