My mother is 83 years old. She has $4K hearing aids that she got 3 1/2 years ago in another state…read more At this appointment (yearly exam) she was told "even though her current hearing aids worked , they could quit and they are 6 months out of warranty". So the sales pitch for new ones started. We declined $6K new aids - ( with a $2K service plan included), that mom DID NOT MEDICALLY NEED. Then mom said the aids "don't stay in place in her ear as they should". Dr says Bigger "tulips" ( the little removable rubber tip) should fix that. But mom isn't given those, she's given ANOTHER sales pitch about $300 molds, and $340 adjustments for them. We said no to that too. All of a sudden these little plastic "kick stands" the dr called them, were put on her hearing aids FOR FREE!!! I'll be darned... it works just fine keeping them in place. I'm very sorry the Audiologist that was there last year when we established care there , left the practice. I DID leave a 5 star review then. My opinion is completely changed about recommending them to anyone. Seek elsewhere. I am.

I've had a stellar experience with Red Maple. 18 months back, I had my first visit with Red Maple…read more The exam yielded results that were about what I expected. I was new to the world of hearing loss and its treatment. I wasn't ready yet, to jump on board. A couple of weeks ago, I realized that I am NOW ready. I phoned and made a new appointment. My hand was graciously held as I was walked through the evaluation process and then outfitted. All of my concerns were considered and addressed. All rationale about their recommendations for me was explained to my satisfaction. I'm a "know-it-all" sound tech by profession and I was dealt with on a level that was very comfy to me. It is readily apparent that they can deal with it ALL in a pleasant and professional manner. Less than a week along with the hearing aids, now... So far so good. I'm really looking forward to my first follow-up. Thanks, folks!!

I had my son here a little over two years ago and still think about how amazing my experience was…read more The Birthing Place at Stephen's is a small, 4-bed unit but the care you receive is grand. The nurses were incredible and truly made my birthing experience everything I could have hoped for-- I didn't feel like just another patient when in their care but like I was their only patient! When I had my son, it was still during the difficult period of navigating Covid-19 restrictions and my providers and the nurses were so great about communicating with us regarding visitors every step of the way. Stephens may be a small hospital in rural Maine but the work they do leaves a BIG impact.

Several of my family members, friends and myself have been here. It is awful. They are always low…read moreon staff, and the staff they have are very very disrespectful. My friend is elder and has a lot of problems. She has COPD and has had a heart attack among with other things. Last time she went she could of died. Luckily she didn't. She was in the hallway despite there being an available room. The doctor blamed my father for not having insurance. The doctor said straight out if he had insurance he would of gotten better treatment. They also put off taking care of his kidney stones. The first time he complained of pain before knowing what it was; he said his kidneys were literally hurting and they dismissed him. Told him he just had a cold. He ended up having to go back a week later, where they wrote his last visit as him complaining of mouth pain??? And argued him on it. They eventually told him he had kidney stones but didn't schedule is surgery for about a month out. And then once we went for the surgery, they decided they couldn't do it and rescheduled it for ANOTHER two weeks away. This place is basically a bandaid factory and they suck at that too. We have all made multiple complaints and haven't gotten anything solved from said complaints. I once had a doctor who said he couldn't help me because they aren't equipped to help with my disability (Illeostomy). He touched my shoulder without asking and interrupted me explaining my problem. I got sent home that night and had to stay up the whole night to make sure nothing happened. I had to go all the way to Portland a few days later at the earliest available appointment they had. Every time I go there for a problem for me or somebody else, I get so mad at how we are all treated I have to leave the hospital and go outside to take a breather. I am tired of this treatment. One of my friends got a drilled bit through his hand which caused bleeding. He went to the ER, and instead of seeing him asap, he sat in the waiting room for way longer than he should of and got blood all over the floor which wasn't taken care of immediately. Also, My father also had some bleeding due to his kidney stones. He used the bathroom and got blood on the floor. He asked the nurses multiple times to see if it was cleaned up. He was told it was, but when he went to use it again it was still all over the bathroom floor. Another time, I heard multiple nurses and a security guard talking about a patient loudly with the office doors open. The security guard and one of the nurses even started arguing. We were right in the hallway. My mom went in for a terrible headache that lasted for a few days and was also put in the hallway despite an opened AVAILABLE room. At one point they even intentionally brightened the lights and NEVER dimmed them. One person was put in the hallway, and when they took the iv they had out, they got blood splattered on an entire side of their shorts. Another person was experiencing severe vomiting and I'm assuming pain. And eventually it caused the entire hallway to smell like vomit. I could go on about all the terrible experiences we've had.
