Hi! Just thought you…read moreshould be aware of this establishment. I had a bad experience with them and my tax preparer. I filed my taxes in feb of this year and waited for my preparer to discuss with me my return. She left me a voicemail telling me that my refund was a mere fraction of any previous returns I had gotten. I was out of town for the week and so when I got back I called her to find out if I could change my filing status. She informed me that it had already been filed that way and that I had to wait until the end of the season. I was upset so I didn't pay or sign for them bc I had hoped to file an addendum in May. So the office contacted me and said it's the last day you have to sign and pay for them. I explained to that person the situation and how frustrated I was with my CPA. She told me to hold on a moment and then my CPA answered the phone. I was put on the spot immediately and I hung up. She called me right back and so I spoke to her hesitantly. I explained her again what I was looking into and she was very short with me. She obviously knew I complained about her bc of her tone and tenor. She asked me a few questions in a short manner and told me that it would take one week to prepare. I said ok. I waited two more months and contacted them again. I once again spoke to someone about the situation and explained what had happened. The person I was speaking to was the same receptionist that put me on the phone with my preparer. She apologized to me and I accepted it. She said there wasn't anyone else to talk to since I had asked for a manger. I explained that next time give the customer a heads up that they are about to put on the phone with the person they complained about. She apologized again. I told her bc of my experience I would not be back. She said that she would have my CPA call me. So my preparer finally called me back. She asked me the same questions over again in a condescending manner as if we had not talked about it. Then proceeded to tell me that she could not fulfill my request bc of my situation. It was based on something she could have looked up 6 months previously. So she pushed me off for months to be told in a patronizing way that I didn't qualify. That's when I told her about herself. She claims she wasn't being rude but based on her actions alone she showed me that she didn't care about me as a client. She made me feel like I was the one being ridiculous. I explained all of this and she gave me a half assed apology. I told her that I would not be back based on their customer service and communication. It has nothing to do with the amount of my return. I could have saved myself 6 months of frustration if she had taken 5 min to look up the information. This business doesn't seem to care about its clients.

She did a great job for us in 2012. After my divorce, I went back to her in 2013. Then again in 2014. Up until then, I thought highly of her. I even recommended her to a friend. In 2015, I was disappointed that not only was I not getting a refund but had to pay back the IRS because my income had gone up while being enrolled in the Market Place in 2014. Rebecca's fee had gone up as well and when I queried her about it, he condescended to me saying that her clients didn't have so many W2's (I have several streams of income). When I had further questions about my responsibility to the IRS, she talked down to me to the point where was made to feel stupid. I concluded she wasn't the right accountant for me. Earlier this year, I finally got hold of an agent with the Market Place. After reviewing my file, she told me there was an omission on a form in my 2014 return that may have caused me to pay back more than I owe. She said it was something I needed to discuss with whomever had prepared my return. Reluctantly, I went back to Rebecca. Not only could she not figure out the omission in 2014, I found an error in her notes regarding my health insurance coverage in 2015 that would have cost me a penalty even though I provided documentation proving coverage for the entire year. When I went in to sign, I said I thought I had seen a larger federal refund on the file she emailed to me. Her manner suddenly changed and she held the cover letter up in my face and repeated several times, "this is what you want to look at!". I replied that I didn't understand why I wasn't getting more back since I claim myself and pay into the system. She smiled at me and told me I was ignorant. For this I paid her a fee of $220.00. She also tried to sell me a "Peace of Mind" agreement for another $189.00 for her services in the event of an audit. The manner in which I was treated was shaming and demeaning. Three years ago they referred us to Rusty's Tax Service after we had a terrible experience with a different service. Mary Thompson prepares our taxes each year and although she sees us once a year, she remembers our names, faces, and details from previous conversations! It's kind of amazing!! She prepares our taxes efficiently and each year we are in and out within 20 minutes. The service is exceptional. From a competency prospective, I could not be more pleased. During our first interaction, she helped us revise our taxes and reduced our amount owed by more than $1,000. Our questions are always answered and advice is always available. Back to the service, the staff are pleasant and approachable. The family business feel is warm and everyone seems genuinely happy to be there even late into the tax season. We won't go anywhere else.
