Geico came to our home to do the estimate and I got on the phone to find a body shop that could complete the repairs in a reasonable amount of time. Many folks are repairing their vehicles instead of buying new ones when they are wrecked, and all the body shops are backed up. Seriously backed up! Sides made the most sense to us and within a couple of weeks we had a drop off appointment. The staff are friendly, cordial, honest and thorough. We knew going in there was a shortage of parts for Mazda [our SUV] and I think Subaru. Plus, Geico had to go to the body shop to perform at least 2 supplemental estimates updating the original estimate. This is because additional damage is often found during repairs, for example, the front seat needed replacing. Time was not a critical issue for us, as we bought a replacement vehicle in the interim. Sides took about 8-10 weeks to complete the job, which they told us up front. They quickly updated me at every follow up phone call and they offer a text messaging status service which is not really accurate or dependable. Do call them, they will talk to you and help you on the phone. We were pleased with all the work including the paint job, when we picked the car up and I've enjoyed my "new" [new to me, it is a 2016 model] car ever since. I highly recommend Sides! Hung up and called Adept Auto for no other reason than they looked professional on the website and the crew photo reminded me of the garage I use back home. Talked to Service Advisor John Brinkman, related my tale of woe, and asked if he could get me in and back on the road the same day. "We're busy, but yeah, no problem." They took it in right away and diagnosed that it was indeed the water pump. Quoted me a very reasonable price and got to work. A few hours later, John came out with some "bad news" (being from out of town, insert skeptical eye roll here). He said, After installing the new water pump, the sound was still there. Turns out they misdiagnosed the problem, and the real culprit was a bad AC pump. The noise we all heard was actually being caused by the bad AC pump. John reassured me it was on them for the miss diagnosis, and the original quote will be honored. In a nutshell, Adept Auto Repair replaced both the water pump and the AC pump for the original quoted price. Plus, they bent over backwards to get me back on the road the same day. The guy ran a free test on the random check engine light anyway. The result indicated that the light sensor might be faulty. He reset it and said it probably would turn on again. Until then I didn't know a full service shop was behind it. Eventually the brake lights stayed on to run down the battery even when disconnected, so a family member followed me there. Just a few blocks away but all or none for brake lights worried me in heavy traffic. They were booked full that afternoon but checked it out before closing. It was an electrical/mechanical problem rather than a sensor plus it needed a new battery. I picked it up about noon the next day. Very happy with the price, tech service and quick turnaround with no appointment. The yellow check engine light still randomly turns on despite their advice on simple possible causes but it runs well without spending a fortune on troubleshooting. (Don't ignore that light if it's red.) My son took our Kia to another place (where he has a credit card from buying tires) when the check engine light was yellow and it sounded ill. He needs to use it for work so he called every day. They kept it for 3 more days before testing. Then they said the test equipment wasn't working! Really? He lost about a week of work!

The local parts store sells it for $16.99. When the plastic part was replaced - about two hours after they started working on it - the bill came to just under $120. They charged me $29.99 for that $16.99 part... Upcharge was almost x2. I am an app user and had a coupon for $15.00 off any service other than an oil change. The manager denied my using that coupon - did everything short of calling me a liar stating the coupon - that came from their app - wasn't from their app. My history with this company is over. The replacement of this part takes less than 10 minutes: look it up on YouTube... The despicable upcharge is ridiculous. I'm all about a business making a profit but not an almost double the price of the replacement part to a loyal customer. Done. Adios. Chow. Hasta la vista, baby!
