When my car broke down and I was stuck on the side of the road, he still went beyond his mechanic duties to check on me and offered me a ride home free of charge with the help of his colleague Mr Dustin. Mr Derek does not upsell and does not give BS; he is transparent and candid about the diagnosis process, the repairs, and the quotes. He offered to run simple tests on batteries and inspections of the car for me for free. He also responds quickly to requests, questions via Yelp and phone. My alternator of the car was bad and Mr Derek gave me two options: remanufactured and OEM. He clearly explained what the pros and cons of each one and respected my decision. The issue was fixed within 2 days. The value is reasonable. And Mr Derek takes really good care of his customers. I highly highly recommend him.

They are great about communication and I never feel pressured, which I really appreciate. Often they are able to give me a ride to work if I can wait for a little spell. The guy who was going to repair the key ignition, called me if I would like to get a used part instead of a new one and I totally agreed because the cost was much less than the new one. The mechanics were excellent at that time. However, something happened a few years ago as the people changed. Prices went up quickly and it made me feel the recent change of employees was the issue. The last time I went there, I had an oil leak - after the oil change. I told them about it, had to take it back and they said it was not an oil leak and all they had to do was tighten up the lid. However, when I took my car to another auto shop to clean the headlights, they found an oil leak. They fixed it and did it the right way. This particular incident made it clear to me that Yost had no intention of fixing my vehicle correctly. That made me very angry as I spent thousands of dollars in the past. I have stopped going there. I would never recommend their services to anyone.

I just wanted a catalytic converter put on my car because the one on the vehicle had been removed. I left the car there overnight and was told they were swamped and would get to it the next day. The next morning I got the $420 price tag quote to do the job. This was $80 more than another shop I had gone to, where they did not charge me anything to look at the car and wrote a receipt quote complete with tax and labor. I was talked into G&L by my neighbor so my loyalty got the best of me. When I was told that I had to pay the $47.30, without prior verbal or written agreement of such a charge, I was in a moment of disbelief. The sad reality is, the charge I paid to G&L added to the price I paid elsewhere, is still lesser than the quote of $420 by G&L. Do yourself a favor and save money. Shop around outside of Northeast Wichita. Try American Muffler Shop on Oliver and Mt. Vernon for exhaust system work. They are fair. YOU DESERVE IT!
