I was referred to this dental practice by a friend several years ago. I have had different…read moreprocedures and was pleased with the work and appreciate the ability to have dental work under sedation due to a medical issue I have. Dr Potts is a very kind man. Unfortunately, my last few experiences have left me needing to find a new dentist. Several years ago I had a root canal done by a dentist who is no longer at this practice. A few years later, I was having pain in the tooth that had the root canal and saw Dr. Potts, he did a scan and found out that the root canal wasn't done correctly. He referred me to a specialist who might have been able to save my tooth. That wasn't going to work and I needed an extraction and implant. I was quoted $5,000 by Whitney at Lake County Family Dental, similar to what an oral surgeon would be, so I decided to use Dr. Potts as I knew him. When I went in to pay a few days before the procedure, they told me it was actually going to be $7,000. I ended up using them and paying the higher amount because I really wanted to get the extraction done as the tooth was bothering me. They ended up charging me $7,748! I didn't need all the sedation and they are refusing to give me a refund after telling me I had over $1,000 credit! After the extraction, I had a lot of bruising on my face, not sure what happened as I was under sedation during the extraction. It took OVER a YEAR to finally get my implant. Turns out this is not the normal time frame and had I used an oral surgeon, I would have had my implant much earlier and it would have been much less expensive. In the meantime, because I was only able to eat on one side of my mouth, I now needed a crown. This happened right as I was finally getting my implant. My latest experience was very painful and why I have decided to find a new dental practice. I needed a crown and decided to use Dr Potts, he did the temporary crown. I was in pain after the procedure and it got worse a few days later so I went in and saw Dr John Planisek as Dr Potts was unavailable. Dr John Planisek said the temporary crown was too high and this was common for crowns done under sedation. He filed it down and said I'd have some pain for a few days but it would get better. That was not the case, the pain got worse and I was not only unable to eat anything crunchy, like nuts or carrots, but I could only chew on one side and had trouble drinking water and eating soft foods as well. My jaw hurt if I yawned and I was getting shooting pains at random times during the day from my tooth down to my jaw and up to my ear. It also hurt in the middle of the night and I'd wake up several times each night due to the pain. I went in and saw Dr John Planisek again, this was about 2 weeks after the temporary crown was done. He said it could be due to a few issues and that he'd put my permanent crown in and that would stop the pain. I trusted him and agreed to have him put the permanent crown in while I was at the office and not under sedation. He DID NOT offer me any pain relief. I had no idea that I should have asked for something as this dental practice is supposed to be one that cares about patients and doesn't want them to suffer. When he removed the temporary crown, he knew I was in pain as I told him. He put the permanent crown on and it was one of the most painful dental procedures I've ever had. If you've ever had an exposed or irritated nerve and had someone put pressure on it, you know just how awful that pain is. I had to bite down for a few minutes for the cement to adhere and he kept saying the pain would go away, it didn't. I had trouble sitting still due to the pain, my blood pressure skyrocketed and I was sweating. I went home and took 2 Tylenol and 2 Advil for some relief, I was unable to work or eat for the rest of the day and my mouth was still throbbing when I went to sleep. To top It all off, I still have pain and my bite doesn't feel right but I'm too scared to ask them if it can be fixed. I'll just find a new dentist and get help there. Worst $2.500 I've ever spent! Unless you like feeling like you're being tortured, and have a lot of money to spend, find another dental practice.

I have what I'd call "dental anxiety" and they're very understanding and compassionate here. Normally I can't have anything more than an x-ray done without being knocked out with IV sedation, but they actually pulled a wisdom for me on my first ever visit here when I was in a lot of pain. I was surprised they would help so quickly and I got a blunt response... "your in pain, we dont leave people in pain" you've gotta respect that. They have some sedation options but aren't set up for IV sedation so keep that in mind. I got through it pain free with just a shot to numb it, I'm not normally so lucky, which speaks to the skill of the dentists here. They offer good referrals that suit my specific needs and they are knowledgeable about different options for treatment. They also take most insurance plans and can work with you to find a payment plan that works for you. As someone who's had work done here as well as used them as a middle man for various specialists I'd say they are worth checking out. I'm glad to have them nearby for emergencies.

Because of his attitude, I said ok give my money back. He responded "I'm not going to give you your money back, sue me". Now how disrespectful is that? And he repeated multiple times, "you are being ridiculous". I had never had such an unprofessional dentist in my life. I left this place being humiliated and disrespected. After my first visit, I no longer saw Dr. Tom, I was introduced to Dr. Ray. From that point on there were multiple issues. I had a crown installed and had to be refitted. (She admitted to me she was nervous about putting it in, while I was getting the work done) The office personnel were unprofessional, asking for payment for a family member on an unrelated account. One of the hygienists, left me suspended in a chair for over 25 mins while we waited for the dentist to inspect my teeth. Not once checking on me and then proceeded to gossip with the front office staff while standing outside the open door. I have spoken with Dr. Ray and was told that I wouldn't have to see that hygienist again. Six months later I show up for my cleaning only to be greeted by the same person. Both of the front office personnel are no longer there, so there was confusion of anything I spoke about with Dr. Ray prior to my current visit. I had requested a call back from the dentist when I had the issue, and she refused to call me and had someone whom I just spoke to in the front office call me.
