My daughters had an appt at 3:30. We checked in around 3:40. My older daughter was called in, meanwhile I was waiting for them to call my other daughter in. They kept calling patients in after waiting for 30mins I decided to ask in the front desk why was it taking so long and that's when they told me they had forgotten to check my other daughter in. Initially, I came here to bring my kids to dental planet. My kids (12 and 5yrs old and 1yr old) Love it here. They never complain or feel worried about coming. I believe it's because the doctors and staff always make you feel Welcomed and comfortable. I love that they have TVs in their rooms, It feels nostalgic. It is also a nice distraction in case the kids may feel anxiousness for their dental work. I even changed my dental Office to dental Planet. And I just got my deep cleaning from Dr. Kathy and she was so great She left my teeth feeling amazing.! and you know if your body feels amazing then, so will you. I have never had an issue with the personal and they explain to you everything they are doing and what they are going to do, which I love (I don't like surprises). I've been coming to this place for years with my children. I think it's about time to go elsewhere. The female dental assistant that worked on my son's cleaning today seemed bothered or annoyed when I entered the room to check with my son if he wanted to get his final baby teeth extracted. I believe I got something between a dead soul stare and an eye roll from her while I was simply asking questions about the tooth extraction procedures and trying to figure out what was best for my son in that moment. She never once greeted me or acknowledged me until she rushed through his cleaning and practically hurt him whilst doing it. All she wanted to know after the 5 mins of half a$$ing his teeth brushing was if I wanted to do the extraction today or another time. Then once we said not today, she basically rushed my son out of the chair and was even rude to him while he was doing the rinsing and spitting hurrying him through every last step. No gentleness or concern for him feeling comfortable throughout the whole time he was in the chair during the cleaning. I really don't think she likes children? Maybe it was an off day for her, or the fact that it was close to End of Day and she was already Mentally checked out. I'll finish this review by saying we left with a really bad feeling of never wanting to return to this office again. read more

Great staff they were very friendly. My son loved the waiting room because it's full of toys to keep him occupied. The hygienists and dentist were friendly and patient with my 2.5 year old. He squirmed a lot during his first cleaning but she remained gentle and did the job well. My only complaints are how crammed I felt in the exam room because it's one room with multiple exam chairs next to each other which stressed me out, especially with a stroller it was almost impossible to fit the stroller in the room without being in the walkway. Also the only entrance has a couple stairs so that's not stroller friendly either. Overall I liked the service and cleanliness. read more

I have been taking my kids to Dental Planet since their 1st appointment as toddlers. I have never had an issue. Any procedure if needed is always explained well before it being done. We usually see Dr. Hamer, she is friendly and thorough with her checkups. When it's time to do Xrays they always find a way to get the kids to cooperate, and make it less scary. The Hygenists are the nicest and kid friendly. The front office ladies are always helpful, and answer any questions in a friendly manner. Ok where do I begin?!! I have been coming her and will never leave this place I drive 75 miles to come here and will never change. I'm a huge tech person and I love how all the latest tech is used in order to make my experience here amazing. Besides that Dr. Hamer and ALL the staff Evelia especially are top notch. Little back story. My son had HORRIBLE a teeth I would fight to brush them and taking him to a dentist was so hard. Finally he had such pain and would cry he was willing g but very scared he was around 3 or 4 now he is 13 with the most beautiful teeth. He Brushes and isn't afraid. They worked with his fear TAUGHT him how to take care of his teeth. That is a de tidy who cares one who does t want you to have cavities. A dentist who wants you to be better. Absolutely the best!!! Been coming to Dr. Hamer for years now. They cater to kids dentistry, but they are excellent with adults. It's the day before Mother's Day and I'm preparing my house and food for nearly 100 people when my front porcelain veneer breaks. About to have a panic attack that I'll look like a hillbilly, I quickly call their office for some emergency work. The place is packed with people when I arrive, so I really start to worry that I won't be able to accomplish everything in time for the party the next day. I try to bribe the girl at the front desk with $100 to get me in as early as possible but they refused to take my money. No special treatment even with my offer... totally legit people here! After a couple patients were called in, they call my name (thank you baby Jesus). Dr. Hamer quickly gives me a temporary fix so I look alright for my event and they have everything ready for a preauthorization for my insurance company to replace the vaneer (crossing my fingers). I am so thankful they were able to accommodate me. I was in and out of there within an hour or so. Dr. Hamer truly is great... has a great bedside manner (can that be said about a dentist?) and does fantastic work. And his staff are really awesome. Pretty much everything wrong with dentists. My 6 year old has been in constant pain needing a cavity filled. We went through the whole pre-approval process, made an appointment, and then sat in the waiting room a solid half hour past our appointment. Which of course if WE were a half hour late they would have cancelled and charged us. Anyway... The procedure needs approval from insurance, so they submitted for approval and will be in touch. A week goes by, then a few weeks. I call, and of course they never answer, so I leave a voicemail. Never hear back. Repeat. Never hear back. Keep calling and pushing random buttons until I finally speak to someone. He says they still haven't heard from insurance, but will call them right this second and find out, and call me back. You can probably guess it... never heard back. A week or two later I call again, repeat the entire paragraph above again. "Not their fault. All insurance's fault...etc". Never return calls, never do anything they say they will. At this point the COVID numbers are going out of control, so we decide to try and wait a little bit, talk to our daughter about it, and she says she can wait a little. Now it is hurting her a lot more, so we decide to take care of it. I call the insurance today to see what is taking so long for this approval and if there is anything I can do. They give me the approval number, and say it was sent to the dentist over 3 months ago. So they received it, and never cared to let me know. Which seems pretty on-brand for them. They're busy, it happens, whatever, let's get this scheduled and taken care of. So, I call the dentist (and play all the number games to finally get a person), and have them look up her account. She tells me that they still have not received the approval, and assures me that they will call me when they do. I inform her that it was sent to them over 3 months ago, and that I have the approval number if she needs it. She pauses, and says "Oh look, it just came in!" Right.... So it was sent 3.5 months ago, and it conveniently was delivered the same day I called? She says yes. She actually said yes to this. Anyway... She then informs me that it will be an extra $300 because "they didn't approve everything". She doesn't really want to tell me what "everything" is, but after some prying it was that they claim a root canal is going to take 2.25 hours to complete. I am obviously unsure about this timeframe, and her response is something VERY close to "well, there will be extra charges, and copays, so we will just charge you $300 for everything". So, the moral of the story is: They will lie to you, make you practically force them take your money, and then they will insist on you giving them extra money, don't ask that you don't worry about why. read more

We just left the office. And I asked my daughter what she got done. She said only polish. I called the office to know what they did and front desk tells me only polishing a scaled a few teeth in the front. My next question was, At what age do you cavitron or hand scale the teeth on teenagers. She said they don't. Unless they need it. So then I asked, What about adults. She said again "only if they need it" Now I'm shocked bc an adult "prophy" consists of a hand or cavitron scaling, AND THEN AFTER THE POLISHING. I was in the field for 15 and worked and many offices with diff drs. And if you ever just get a polish. Your not getting your cleaning. A polish and a cleaning is TWO DIFF SERVICES. My daughter also mention about the comments back office assistants were making about "why would they put braces if she has cavities " She got braces a year ago and got some of her cavities done. Not all offices go in and drill on teeth for small tiny cavities still in the enamel. Usually a dr takes care of cavities once it hits the DENTIN. These comments made my daughter feel very uncomfortable. Those comments were unnecessary and unprofessional to say in front of a patient. Now I didn't see the X-ray. So she may need them done. And just bc she has braces doesn't mean she can't get them done. Perhaps a matrix isn't ideal. But there are other ways to fixing cavities when anyone has braces. read more

I've been coming here since early 2018 after moving from South LA, for routine dental cleanings, wisdom tooth extractions and fillings. I have to say after a bad experience at WD I didn't wanna go back to their office so I took a chance and asked if they took my insurance here. I've had fillings done here with NO pain felt, wisdom tooth extractions with zero problems, and now routine cleanings after a deep cleansing, and I'm proud to say I have even recommended ex's of mine who had had bad experiences before and they'd even switched over at one point. I haven't been told they've had a bad experience here whatsoever. The last person I referred to was treated by a Dr Bina who extracted some bad teeth and did some fillings for them. They were so blown away by the quality of service they walked over to them and shook their hand in huge gratitude saying they were proud to call them their new dentist. I am possibly about to refer another person to Dental Planet, if their situation calls for it, and am wholeheartedly really proud to watch them walk out the door so incredibly relieved that they weren't "hurt" in any way. When the time comes, I am also thinking of switching my son from his pediatric dentist. The staff here have always been REALLY friendly even when things seem chaotic. I've now been here almost 16 years strong and still have no plans of leaving read more

I have been bringing my daughter for at least 8 years, I'm sure it's more because I have not taken her to another dentist her whole life however, I want to give exact details here and I don't have her start date available without doing some digging. I confirmed an appt a few weeks ago for a Saturday visit and failed to show after confirming the appt. I'm currently pregnant and was stuck with the flu to the point where I went to the E.R. at Holycross Hospital. I failed to call that same morning to cancel due to reception being so bad there at least for my Sprint phone. But not sure what a difference that would have made since I was told by Dental Planet rep that notices must be given 24 hrs ahead of time. I guess the only thing I can apologize is for not predicting the seriousness of my flu. Even if I were to call that same morning I was given the impression that I still would have not made a difference as 24 HOURS need to be given for cancellations. The same rep confirmed that in all the years my daughter has been a patient I have had 2, again TWO no call no shows. 2 no call no shows for at least 7 years. I'm still trying to grasp the fact that #1 - per the rep, that means I might have to wait more even if I have an appointment and 2. I am not able to schedule an appointment on a Saturday anymore since I missed 1 appointment on a Saturday. I dont feel valued as as customer/patient. I keep seeing them since I am not a person who likes medical/dental records all over the SF Valley unless absolutely necessary, they are also convenient as I only live about 1-2 miles away. Plus my daughter is accustomed to going there however; it doesn't meant I cant find anyone else who wont mind 2 missed appointments in many years of loyalty. What would be nice is for them to warn their customers of this "policy" they have in place. This way people will go above and beyond predicting any situations as they basically want us to do. Also, the same day I missed the appt on Saturday and was able to leave Holycross Hospital, my phone received a text message in CAPITAL LETTERS with a notice which I will include. As a customer/patient and after so many years of loyalty I would think they can let this slide. After all, my daughter had an appt last week on a weekday since I cant schedule on a Saturday anymore and I arrived on time to the appt. This makes me wonder of how much they value their patients. I am a Manager at UCLA for a specialty clinic and we have many patients who are no calls/no shows and even though its done time and time again, we don't ever tell them they cannot schedule anymore on certain days, we would definitely not tell them after 2 missed appointments that they will have to wait longer to see the MD because of the this. We do however; let them know there are other patients who are not able to schedule since they are taking the space and we see multiple no call/no shows. But, this is when the patient has 10 missed appts. Things do happen. Life is predictable and when you have kids, things like this happen all the time. On last weeks visit I did not confirm in order for me to not receive another text message or fear or something happening and I wouldn't be able to make it and not give the 24 hr notice as they would like for us to do. The rep on our last visit said she would speak to the MD permission if I can schedule a f/u on a Saturday since at this point in time I am forbidden, lol! I am still waiting on a call back. P.S. funny while sitting in the waiting on my daughter to come out of getting her dental work done I received an email and a text message asking me to bring her in so she wont loose her dental benefits.
