I've been coming to DentalWorks since they were located in Sears at Spring Hill Mall. Dr. Davis and her staff do amazing work. They have been caring for my family's teeth and have done an excellent job. During a consultation, I'm always given a treatment plan. There's never any surprises. If something is identified, I'm told right away. The decision is then up to me and what I'd like them to do. Through their recommendations we have all been able to maintain healthy smiles. They're an extension of my family. The new office is brightly lit and relaxing. They offer complimentary coffee, hot chocolate, and water. I would definitely recommend them to friends and family. I am writing to follow up that a year after my original review, this issue is still unresolved. I never heard from the dental office; they never followed up with me to rectify the matter or to even apologize for their complete lack of professionalism or the obvious Fraud. I no longer use DeltaDental as my insurance provider, but more importantly, I am still ringing the bell at DentalWorks Elgin's ineptitude and poor customer/patient service. Worst dental office I've ever visited. The staff are unorganized, and the dentist , Dr. Davis is rude and condescending.

I've been calling regarding my crown coming out. Spoke with the front desk to have Dr. Davis call me back to determine what can be done. My current dentist can't cement it back because Dr. Davis used a metal post and it can't be cemented with same. Still no return calls two days later. When I call I'm always transferred to another office. This is unacceptable, I am no forced to call Delta Care to complain and see if I can get a refund for the money I spent for shoddy service. read more

The dentists and especially the hygienist were fine but the office experience has been horrendous particularly the front desk receptionist. This is the 2nd time that I came into this office, and instead of warm pleasantries of good morning/afternoon, the first thing that came out of her mouth was, "you owe a previous balance and you need to pay for the services today, and if you can't do that, we can't see you today". Well good to see you too lol I mean, I thought I was walking into a dentist office and not a collection agency. We changed insurance and this is how I ended up at this horrible place. DO NOT GO HERE. I hated my experience here, I'm not sure why I never left a review. My first and only time there was in July 2022. I went for a routine new patient exam and cleaning, and had to wait forever just to be seen. When I was finally taken back, half the lights were off in the rooms and it was just weird and uncomfortable. There was one hygienist who started cleaning my teeth and she had to stop midway through my appointment to go work on someone else. I was left to sit for some time (can't remember exactly how long but it was longer than anyone should expect) before she came back. The hygienist proceeded to tell me how bad my teeth were (which wasn't an issue at my last dentist before I switched). Said I had 50% bone loss because of my Invisalign and tried to make me think all of my teeth were going to fall out of my mouth. She wanted to do some special gum cleaning thing that cost upwards of $400 and said they could only do portions at a time, so overall they wanted me to agree to a treatment plan of over $1,000. Outside of the massive ripoff/scam I felt was happening, the hygienist also said some weird things. She at one point got on a rant about how schools indoctrinate children and started talking about race and how "young kids don't need to know about color and race." All of this was unprovoked conversation too. Again... super weird and uncomfortable. I just let them appointment finish, paid my balance in full, and went home. Either later that day, or the next, I called and left a message explaining the situation and asking that they remove me from their patients as I will not be returning. No one reached out to speak about what happened or even confirm that they got the message. Fast forward to today, February 19th, 2024. I received a bill in the mail for $193.00. This bill is the first one I've EVER seen, because as I stated, I paid in full on the day of my appointment. Oddly enough, the bill from DentalWorks also says the charge is over 90 days old. I tried to go onto their website and I can pay the bill but they don't show what the charges are for or anything. I tried accessing their 'patient portal' and the webpage doesn't load. So then I called their office. The office staff couldn't even find me in their system. How am I being sent a bill, when I haven't been there in almost two years, and I'm not even in their computers? What if I was someone who didn't know any better and just paid this? As others have alluded to, DentalWorks is only out for your MONEY. read more

Holy cow we were there in October. Wife applied for there plan sombee to help pay for our visit. Wife didn't tell me she set it up. So I immediately pd. The full amount the same day. And was told by the receptionist she cancelled the loan that I pd in full. Not only did she lie to us. We have been trying to fix this problem ever since they said they cancelled it. It it now dec. 22 we are still fighting to have them pay back that loan on sombee. And sombee says the office has to pay. Then u talked to office it's well we have to call corporate itl be 7 to 10 days for response. Well if u do the math it's 2 months past 10 days and still fighting for this problem. If they do not take care of this I know better business buearow. (Bbb) Will I have had excellent results. I don't know what there problem is at this dental works in Elgin. But if I were you I would go somewhere else. I have never in my life had a problem like this from a dental office. Maybe it's bad mgr. Or just they really don't know. i chose Elgin Dental works due to my insurance changing to an HMO. Each time I was asked to pay my "copay" and any services not covered. I received a statement in January and paid the total amount due. I received another statement in February with a new amount due. Was a little confused since I had paid the last statement in full and there wasn't any recent activity. I called the office to get a copy of my visits and charges. I never received a call back. I received another statement in March and once again called the office, again no one called back. I called again and asked for a print out. They confirmed my email and said they would send it by the end of the day. Never received it so I called again and told them I would call every day until I received it. Their office hours are not the best and like most others, I am also at work during their business hours. I finally received the print out and contacted the insurance company. 2 of the charges were denied because they never received the proof that I had an issue with periodontal disease. the 3rd charge they never even received any information at all. By the time the insurance company gets this straightened out, Elgin dental works will have been over payed $131.00. Hopefully the insurance company will send me the money so i don't have to wait for them. I have lost all trust in Elgin Dental Works and will not return to them. read more

I wouldn't recommend this place at all. Money is their priority with no regard to patient well-being. Hygienist, Doctor and front desk staff all are trained to SCARE the patient to death so they can do unnecessary treatment and charge insurance and bloat out-of-pocket expenses. I checked their treatment plan with one of my dentist friend and he recommended just one procedure from their plan and that rest all of them were unnecessary, cosmetic or temporary. They refused to do task which is necessary to me but rather want to do whole treatment and charge me hefty out of my pocket after insurance. Like reviewer Adriana, money is the issue. Dr Davis will tell you a price and after it's done, watch out because you'll get a bill twice or three times what you were originally quoted. I also felt that after receiving services they rushed through the FAQs of the work I had done. I asked to have an itemized bill sent to me and was told yes. I never received it. I agree with other reviewers. They are definitely after your money. I scheduled an appointment for myself and my husband. I agreed with everything they were recommending, however there was a red flag when they started trying to sell their toothbrushes from sonic care when we already use an electronic toothbrush and second they would force you to get laser cleaning otherwise they wouldn't clean your teeth. Laser cleaning is not standard of care if you go to any other dentist, and also dentists recommend using electronic toothbrushes but they don't tell you get rid of the ones you already have and buy the ones from them. I belong from medical field so I knew better than that to stick around. Also, Dr. Davis is rude and the only reason I'm giving two stars is because of the hygienist who was super nice and explained everything thoroughly. I am SO happy I found this place!! I've always been nervous going to the dentist. As soon as I walked in, I was put at ease. Very friendly!! I finished everything the doctor told me I had to do within 5 weeks. I needed a fair amount of work and they never made me feel embarrassed or ashamed. I went into get my teeth cleaned and they told me I could not get my teeth cleaned unless I get laser treatment for my pre gingivitis. Also they wanted to charge me $200 out of pocket and the insurance would pay the rest. I have never had any signs of gingivitis and went to go get a second opinion. Yesterday I went to get that second opinion at Dr. Valley in Arlington heights and I had no signs of gingivitis. DentalWorks will try to suck money out of you and I will not be back! read more

I came in for a teeth cleaning which they refused to clean them until I agreed to about $800 dollars of periodontal work done. Again I never had those before. They told me I had to pay $800 up front then when I told them no one told me I had to bring that kind of money to the appointment they tried to tell me that I hadn't to pay $200 right there just for going and telling them this! I wish I could give 0 stars. This location lies to customers to get them to pay more money. I went here for awhile and was told I had peridontal disease. I was crushed. I spent $100s of dollars getting special cleanings every couple months etc. Then I had to have a crown done. Within only a year, it came off. They blamed me and said I must be eating candy.... Which I don't for 1 and 2. If you have 1 crown, are you never allowed to have candy again? I thought crowns were supposed to last 15-20 years? I know several people who have had crowns with no problems. Then it kept happening. Almost 10 times now. The crown keeps breaking or coming off. Everytime I went in it was a new excuse but always my fault. Now I'm being told I have gum disease .. And they will no longer help me. Which I dont have peridontal or gum disease. I have seen 4 different dentists now... ALL of them confirming I have never had periodontal disease or gum disease. That my teeth look great. So now I went back to my reputable dentist and was told my crown is so small and brittle it will continue to come off. That dental works did a horrible job and should fix it. I told my new dentist what they said and they were appalled and again confirmed they are lying and I should get a refund since I need a new crown made correctly that is a certain depth to insure it won't keep coming out. This location does not stand behind their work or care about their patients. I have reported them to the BBB as well. My son unfortunately went to Dental Works in Elgin Il. They determined he needed 4 wisdom teeth pulled and 2 more molars removed. Three separate occasions appointments were set up only to find once we arrived that the services could not be performed. Three people took off work for this three different times. Sorry? Sorry for the first. Really sorry the second. Third time thank goodness. Best news since they are so unprofessional I am happy that it could not be done and my son is safe. If they are so unprofessional with appointments imagine how unprofessional they would be in surgery. Stay away and call your insurance and find ANY other office in the area. The front desk staff are bothered that you are there, and rude beyond belief. I had an appointment for oral surgery, the surgeon was amazing, but then RIGHT before I was going to go in the chair, the front desk lady comes back and tells me she needs $600 for the visit. Never once did they mention payment due at time of service even though I have health and dental insurance. I left in pain, embarrassed, and NO ONE should ever have to go through that.
