Went in for a cleaning and they only flossed my teeth. Didn't use a pick or anything such a joke. Another issue I had was they gave me an estimate and then I received another bill almost 4 times that estimate after the procedure was done. Never sign their treatment plan and make sure you get a pre approval. read more

Dr. Whitted and his staff are welcoming, professional and pleasant. Dr. Whitted completed an extensive exam and explained my plan of treatment carefully. He listened to my issues and provided a explanation. His staff was ready at check out with the costs of my plan of care, including what my insurance will cover and made suggestions that I complete the second portion of my treatment plan after the New Year, when my benefits kicked in again. All in all, a wonderful dental office. I am looking forward to continuing with Dr. Whitted and his staff. read more

I had been going here for 7 years, though I never felt like anyone knew me or my family. Everything we had done was very standard so I never had a complaint. If you're looking for a giant dental office where nobody knows you then this is the place. The dentist also spends very minimal time visiting with you, usually only 1-2 minutes for a standard cleaning. However, what happened to my daughter was eventually the icing on the cake. She's 5 and I was taking her here for 2 years every 6 months for regular cleanings. Just the other day her back molar completely broke. He spent 1 minute with us and told us we needed to take her to a pediatric dentist. Fine, totally understand because they have more tools to helps kids feel comfortable. I took her to another dentist AND a pediatric dentist who both confirmed that she has 10 cavities!!! Both dentists were able to see the cavities without x rays even being done!!! She now needs EXTENSIVE dental work including 2 crowns!!! How was this missed for so long?!?! Then we found out that he wants to charge us for his 1 minute visit when he couldn't do anything for us. I also let the front desk know before I even left there that I was having an extremely hard time getting into the pediatric offices they recommended and this was a slight dental emergency and I asked if they had other recommendations. She said she would call me to find out other ones. I'm still waiting for their call. Absolutely horrible. If you're looking for a dentist that has about 1 minute to spend with you and is a money making factory then this is the perfect place. My entire family is switching out because of this. Somewhere there is a Nascar pit crew that is jealous of this man. I needed two cracked fillings replaced. Twenty minutes later, I was back in my car driving home with the work completed. No issues either, except I'm amazed at how fast and professional he was. I lost more time sitting in traffic than I did in his chair! Oh, and I had really lapsed when it came to regular checkups. When I moved to a new area, I told myself it was time to get a new dentist and a new routine. There were no judgements or harsh words. The man and his assistants were both very professional. Since moving to the area, this dentist was my 3rd I had seen and luckily, 3rd times the charm. I couldn't be happier with my experiences with this office. The dental assistants/hygienists and receptionists are very attentive and kind. I see Dr. Scales and he is awesome. He is transparent with everything he does; down to explaining your x-rays, to what he is doing when he's doing it, to possible payments needed for insurance (makes sure you're okay with proceeding if payment is required). When the receptionists make your appt, they tell you if a payment will be required at that next visit so there are no surprises. Not only that, when you need a filling, he makes sure you're numb: will inject your gums after it's been topically numbed, and sit and chat with you for a couple minutes to ensure that the medication is working thoroughly. What makes Dr. Scales different from any dentist I have seen ever, he actually performs the cleaning! At first I thought it was because it had been my first time there, however, every time I have my cleaning he comes in with the hygienist and he does it himself. The hygienist would finish me off with the polish and washing my teeth. He's very personable and easy to talk to, everyone at the office is. When I visited Dr. Whitted last fall, we discovered that I needed a root canal and two crowns. I was little nervous but all in all it ended up to be a pleasant experience. I was quite pleased with the work performed until Dr. Whtted shaved (ground) down my upper and lower front teeth for no reason and without my consent. They are no longer sharp and I can not bite properly. My front teeth are straight across and pretty much square and dull. I look like the smiling cartoon hippopotamus with big square teeth. I have trouble eating an apple and corn on the cob. The problems this has created has cost me many hundreds of dollars. I have noticed people with teeth straight across and wonder if they had teeth problems, now I realize they have dentist problems. Be careful. Once your teeth are shaved, it's forever. read more

All these guys are worried about is money. If you don't believe me, take a look at the financial paperwork they make you sign as a new patient. They asked me to give them a $50 deposit just to make sure that I would show up for a scheduled appointment. Now they are refusing to give me my $50 deposit back, even though I canceled it a week before the appointment. Thank goodness I got an email confirmation from them when I canceled the appointment. Ok just the FACTs! State-of-the-art new fancy impressive facility with friendly staff. The dentist diagnosed my child with 4 cavities, I was shocked! We regularly went to our old dentist (who is located inconveniently far from south elgin - so we wanted to find a local dentist). At her last visit at our old dentist - they said she had a "soft spot "- I was anticipating possibly one cavity this time. I listened to my "gut instinct" and made an appointment with our old dentist and had Whitted email his x-rays to them. My old dentist reviewed the x-rays and couldn't find 3 of the cavities. At no charge, he took more x-rays and even had another dentist review and they both examined my 11 year old. SHE ONLY HAD ONE CAVITY! Money aside - I can't believe Whitted was going to subject my child to drilling and filling 3 non-existent cavities. FIRST TIME EVER WRITING REVIEW - JUST THOUGHT YOU SHOULD KNOW. read more

Terrible customer service! Called to report that the medications given for a toothache had caused nausea and vomiting after the first dose. Was expecting to get some advice from the prescribing dentist but the receptionist response was that the dentist is in the middle of something. I then requested to have the dentist call me when he gets a chance regarding the concern but the receptionist stated that the dentist doesn't even make phone calls to patients! After insisting that I really needed to talk to the dentist, the receptionist then put me on hold for less than a minute and replied that the dentist briefly reviewed the chart (yes, for just a few seconds!) and ordered to just stop taking the medications. I know the answer was obvious to just stop taking the medications but I was expecting for the dentist to at least investigate or provide some alternative treatment. I guess after they bill your insurance, they don't care anymore:( Didn't feel any compassion to patients from this dental office after this experience. read more
