Until an molar started to bother me so I asked around for a good dentist. Someone told me about Dr. John Bruisnma and I decided to take the risk. I'm so glad I did! Although this is a new practice, Dr. John is an experienced Dentist. He was extremely thorough, patient, and knowledgeable. He explained what he would recommend short term and long term. In other words, I felt he was not recommending things just to get money but to actually help me as a patient. I left feeling I had all the information I needed without feeling "irresponsible" for not flossing enough! It was service with dignity and lots of smiles from the dental assistants. This dental office is friendly and personable. During my cleaning Robin the hygienist was absolutely amazing. Also, I've had braces for a while and will still need some work on my teeth when they come off, so being able to have a dentist help me continue to get my teeth where they need to be is a huge help. THEY SENT ME TO COLLECTIONS…read more I have insurance for disabled veterans and never received a bill with prior routine cleanings. Suddenly, I received a bill. I was told by the receptionist that North Pointe's insurance program changed and therefore, I owed money. I stated that I was never made aware of this and there are laws protecting consumers. They stated they would look into it. I was told that the bill was reduced, but they expected me to pay half. Again, I told them that I did not think this was appropriate due to the fact of never being told that I would need to pay anything due to their policy change which I should have been informed about. I pay for dental insurance to avoid having to pay for routine cleanings. Plus my husband is ill and not working so if I knew I would have to pay extra, I wouldn't have booked the cleaning here. They said that they look into it and if I didn't hear from them that I could count on the bill being forgiven. I didn't hear from them, but I did get a bill from collections. I'm livid. I thought we were working on handling this together and I thought it was handled, yet they sent it to collections. They lack accountability and compassion.

But the way a situation was handled yesterday showed a serious lack of awareness and sensitivity. We hope the office reflects on how they approach care for children with additional needs. It fell off again on a Friday evening. I could not secure it back in place because it has a HOLE in it. I called Monday morning. It took an HOUR to finally get ahold of someone and then I was told they could not possibly get me in anytime Monday. So I guess the dentist lied?? It's not important to get in right away?? It fell off FRIDAY! Whatever, time to look for a new dentist.
