This was my son's very first dentist appointment, and it was honestly awful. The dentist came in already annoyed, told me my 21-month-old didn't need me to hold him, and acted irritated when I answered her questions. When I showed her the toothpaste we use, she literally rolled her eyes and sighed like I was doing everything wrong. Instead of explaining what I should use, she made me feel judged and embarrassed. I told her this is my first child and I'm trying to do the right things, and instead of helping me learn, she walked out and said she "wouldn't tolerate this." So I picked up my son and left. I have avoided dentists as an adult because of experiences exactly like this -- and now I'm seeing it happen to my child, too. Parents should NOT be made to feel stupid for asking questions. We come to the dentist to learn how to care for our children's teeth, not to be talked down to or shamed. I will not be returning and I cannot recommend this place. When I went back to the front to ask who I could report her to, I was told she is the owner. For her to be the owner and behave like that shows a lot of entitlement and a complete lack of professionalism. She tried to deny her behavior and told me she didn't "huff and puff," but then admitted she looked at her assistant -- exactly the dismissive, judgmental behavior I was talking about. There are plenty of other pediatric dental offices in the area that treat parents with respect. What really stood out to me is that when I explained what happened, one of the front desk staff was quietly nodding as if this was not the first time she had witnessed something like this. That alone said a lot about the environment here and who is being spoken to that way. The dental assistant, on the other hand, was the complete opposite. She was kind, patient, professional, and educational. She explained things clearly, including concerns about the bedtime bottle, and did so without any judgment or attitude. She should be the one running that office -- not the dentist who made me feel unwelcome for simply trying to take care of my child. We deserve providers who educate, not shame. Front desk rude. Took 10 mins me standing at the front to be acknowledged when another worker walked in past me and didn't say hey someone's waiting over there. I gave them my insurance and number and they were still lazy to look up basic info to verify my insurance. Which guess what is YOUR job. My appointment was at 2pm (after their lunch NO other patients in office yet) I got there at 1:45pm and they had the audacity to look at me appalled when I complained for the 40 min wait. I've been bringing all my kids in here and all are amazing except for this time that there's no accurate nasal cannula that fits to my son's nostrils during extractions therefore my son and I helped to hold the cannula. I took my 2 yr great granddaughter for her first dental visit. I was concerned how well it would go, I had NO reason to be concerned. Our pediatrician recommended Dr. Sina awhile back but I thought she was too young to see a dentist. My own past experience interfered. I recommended Dr Sina to my granddaughter for her son. She let me know she was really please with Dr. Sina. Her son has health issues, he was born at 26 weeks fighting kicking ready for this world. My great granddaughter is 2 and we also have her 2 older brothers, 3 and 4 yrs old, both are autistic. If our 2 yr old didn't have ANY issues, then I think my 3 an 4 yr olds will do just fine. It's a nice establishment and Dr. Sina is a very caring dentist who can establish a quick rapport with her patients. They continuously talk with the kids during the treatment to ease the excitement, especially during the injection. They do such an amazing job with hiding the needle; that the kids never actually see it and don't even realize they are being injected. Average wait time is 10 to 20 minutes; varies depending on time of the day and the day of the week, of course. They always give the kids small gifts such as toothbrush, toothpaste, or coloring books and crayons after the treatment. No calls to let me know not to come in and waste my time and no customer service skills to make up for their mistake and help to get my kids seen. March is the earliest they can be seen. I wanted to find a dentist closer to my house so I took my son to Dentistry for Children after hearing good reviews from a friend. The dental assistant was not patient with my son when trying to do X-rays. When the dentist started working with my son, I was trying to talk to my son and explain what they were doing and keep him calm and happy. The dentist and the assistant were talking over each other and over me. While tools were in my sons mouth he had 3 people talking to him at once. It was overwhelming for ME so I can only imagine how my son felt. They stopped and the dentist told him she was just going to look at his teeth. She had a tool in her hand and she said he had something in his tooth. When I asked her what she meant, she said that he had a hole in his tooth. She had something small and white in her palm and she stated, "he had a piece of food in there but he has a hole in his tooth." I immediately freaked out and felt like an awful mom. Who doesn't notice a hole in their child's tooth?! She said there wasn't anything they could do at the time but that they would schedule him to be put under anesthesia but the appointment wouldn't be for 2-4 weeks. And that was it. Three days go by and my son is getting stuff stuck in his tooth and he was in so much pain last night. We called his original dentist this morning and they get him in immediately. Come to find out, my son had a filling in that tooth and the dentist ripped it out! However, she lied and said it was food. A dentist should be able to tell if someone has a filling in their tooth. For some reason she ripped it out with a tool. Maybe to get more business from us? I don't know. It just doesn't make sense to me. We will never go to this dentist again. His original dentist blows this place out of the water! I only wanted to see if they were good so we wouldn't have to drive 30 minutes to original dentist. Lesson learned. Let's start with the staff. Maggie I suppose is the coordinator she handles insurance & treatments in office. This woman went above and beyond. My insurance has to have a referral from a regular dentist to see a pediatric dentist which is considered a specialist. Basically they want you to jump through hoops to gets anything covered. Maggie was consistent in contacting the insurance and even the general dentists office , who I believe did everything they could to not have my kids switch dentist. She kept me informed and in the loop during the entire process. During appointments were seen within 15 minutes. The longest time was about 25 minutes but there were a lot of kids & to be honest parents know that sometimes kids are not cooperative or maybe a little nervous so sometimes it takes extra time with certain kids it's not an issue. The hygienist as well as Dr. Sina are very caring with the children and try to talk them through to reassure them everything is ok. She also is ethical and discussed with me her treatment plan worst case scenario. She let me know that crowns were the treatment but if the teeth could be fixed with fillings she would do that. Obviously crowns are more expensive & she does what she can. Sometimes it is a whiles wait to get in but that just goes to show she's in high demand. In regards to other comments about Dr. Sina saying nasty things. I think she's just completely honest and it comes off blunt. My daughter did have quite a few cavities and she basically said " look you're the parent. You're buying her food and feeding her things. As much as kids love sweets and candy it's your choice to make sure she has healthy teeth. So check your cabinets and make sure you're taking care of those teeth." Waited 3 hours before my 2 children were seen. Dr Sina assesses my son, then makes a shocking and unbelievable remark: Dr Sina:"You know, are killing your son" (in reference to him being overweight) My husband says "excuse me?" Dr. Sina: You're the one who buys him food, I dont think he buys his own food?! Does he??? My husband is a very quiet man so he said nothing... As a medical professional (or any human being with ethics), Dr. Sina could of made a suggestion or remark in a different manner a PROFESSIONAL in a constructive manner. But to accuse us of causing harm to our child? This was indeed an eye opener to us... I wouldn't suggest going to this pediatric dentist who has no compassion and says whatever she wants to say without consideration. In a previous review someone stated that when they came to see Dr. Sina she or her staff had commented on their child's weight.. I can believe that, BUT I believe they meant it in a caring way it must have just come out wrong. My son has a lot of dental issues and the hygienist was very blunt about the things I am doing wrong with him but I appreciated the honesty I could tell she cared. We talked about our kids and the issues kids have with electronics and how they can create bad habits while my son was getting X-rayed down the hall.. One star because it won't let me leave zero. Dr. Sina was blunt but whatever, I don't really have an issue with her other than her inept hiring practices. We had to get a referral from the insurance company before making an appointment because it is considered a specialist, so the insurance company refers you to the specialist closest to you. The Silverado office is right down the street from my house, so we were referred to Dr. Sina... The woman who made our appointment had all of our information, including our address, and she disclosed the directions for the office as being on Silverado ranch... She never mentioned that Dr. Sina is only there Mondays and Wednesdays and then is at the green valley location on Tuesdays and Thursdays... So we make an appointment assuming that it's at the Silverado office, since you know, she told us the office was off of Silverado ranch and pollock, but she schedules us on a Thursday... So we show up and there is no one there. Office is locked, there's no signs or anything alerting you of a second location... So I call the phone number to ask what is going on and the person who answers begins to chastise me for going to the wrong location... Saying that they're always very clear about the Silverado location only being open on Mondays and Wednesdays (lies, no one disclosed this when I made the appointment, nor does it list this information anywhere on the website) ... So She tries to tell me that now I'll be missing the appointment that I had to wait months for and that they'll have to reschedule my son for who knows when in the future because they're always booked.... I got extremely upset and told her that I would not be waiting another month or two for an appointment when they were the ones who failed to inform me of a separate location than the one that was mentioned when the appointment was made... She tried to get condescending with me again and say that they would never schedule me for the Silverado location on a Thursday and that it was my error and whatnot and then I told her that I would never knowingly book the green valley location when I could literally walk to the Silverado location from my house ! Then she asked where I lived and confirmed my address and her tone completely changed... She was like "oh wow, I'm sorry ma'am, I don't know why they would book you for green valley when you literally live down the street from the other office... I'll make sure they see you if you can get here in twenty minutes." So off we rushed to get down there in time... We got there and there was a very crowded, very tiny waiting room that has seen better days. For all the money they bill the insurances you'd think they'd update their facility a bit (green valley anyways) ... We waited for s while since we supposedly "missed" our appointment... When we finally went back there the nurse or medical assistant was very pleasant, very good with my son... She helped calm his nerves... Then when the doctor finally came in, she was very blunt, But my son had a lot of cavities despite brushing twice a day, so I understand .... She recommended that we go to the surgery center to put him under for the fillings since he wouldn't sit still during the examination. She told me to go back to the waiting room where someone would help us schedule the surgery and go over all of the insurance stuff but after sitting out there for thirty more minutes, I asked how much longer and they at that moment finally decided to inform me that the person in charge of that had just left for lunch and wouldn't be back for another hour... I could wait or have her call me with the information ... I chose to have her call because I wasn't about to wait another hour ... The scheduling manager, Claudia, is quite possibly the most unprofessional person I have ever dealt with, and her predecessor was just as inept. The first scheduling person I dealt with kept "forgetting" to send me the email containing all of the information of what I needed to do for my sons upcoming oral surgery. I called probably three or four times trying to get the email sent and nothing ever happened. After getting approval from the insurance company she scheduled me for an appointment in the beginning of June and told me what I had to do in anticipation and kept assuring me she would email me all of the instructions that day... They sent me text message confirmations for the appointment a few weeks out and then she called saying they had to postpone the surgery because of something to do with the surgery center, so she reschedules me to the end of June, the 21st or something similar, Then again we get the confirmation messages and again they call two weeks before to tell us they have to postpone again, this time because the doctor is going on vacation ... REALLY ? You can't plan with more notice ? So they schedule is for July 12th ... Again more assurances that the email is on the way... Middle of June rolls around and I receive papers from read more
