I was disappointed after visiting Denver Chiropractic for some back pain I was experiencing. Since this place has so many great reviews I thought it would be good place to check out. After meeting with the doctor and describing my symptoms, I was adjusted, had an electric vibrating massage for a couple of minutes and then about 10 minutes of electrotherapy while the massage table moved/hinged up and down. All of it was great at the time, but my back was in just as much pain as before my visit for the next 3 days. My trainer at my gym solved my issue for free by recommending I roll around on a lacrosse ball. I did that for 10 painful minutes and almost instantly I was feeling better. (I even discussed a previous issue with the doctor that I saw that a foam roller had helped with a previous issue 5 years ago after I did not receive relief with a different chiropractic office for a different issue). I did try the foam roller this time and it did not help, but the lacrosse ball did. So, I just felt like I wasn't heard when describing my issue and previous treatments that did not pan out. Maybe my expectations were too high, but I thought this was the perfect place in that they treat many athletes and just thought they would better understand my issue. Lastly no one ever called to follow up with me to see how I was doing or to see if the treatment helped. That would have gone a long way in making me feel better that they care. On time, same day appointments, online scheduling and great knowledge and support. I have always walked away feeling better whether it was a check-in, a flare-up, or a multi-appointment process. They have always been great with my back. However, they do more than just backs and spine work. Recently I had to take off time from long-distance running due what I thought was tendinitis. I mentioned it to Dr. Rider and he quickly assessed my issue, created a treatment plan and I was up and running with just 2 appointments in 1.5 weeks. SO GRATEFUL FOR THAT! I am so grateful for Dr. Artichoker and his team at Denver Chiropractic! After being diagnosed with calcific tendonitis in my shoulder, I was experiencing severe and constant pain 24/7, and had limited range of motion. The Orthopedic doctor had no solutions to offer, other than surgery so I started looking for alternate options. As it turns out, there is a therapy that I had seen work tremendously well with our horses with similar injuries, so I began searching for the human version. The name of the treatment might sound scary or intimidating, as it is called Shockwave Therapy, or ESWT (Extracorporeal Shock Wave Therapy). I am glad that I had seen such good results in the horses so I could trust the human treatment. There are several scientific studies specifically addressing the effectiveness for calcific tendinitis of the shoulder. I've had reoccurring shoulder pain for about a year. I went to my main doctor and while he was useful in figuring out what it was (shoulder impingement) there was not a whole lot the doctor could do to help except prescribe pain-relieving medications. The doctor suggested visiting a chiropractor might be useful in helping treat the problem. Overall, I am quite impressed with how well the treatment has been going. I've noticed a significant decrease in pain and a much freer movement when I go swimming. Since I have never done chiropractic treatments, it was nice that the doctors here (Trent Artichoker and Steven Brown are the ones I have seen) explained what they were doing and why for each treatment. And best of all, the treatments do appear to be working and they were covered under my insurance (with just a slight co-pay). Overall, a good place to go if you are experiencing chronic pain and don't want painkillers to be your solution for that. read more

I cannot recommend Dr. Arichoker highly enough. I started seeing him about a year ago after a series of doctors and an MRI failed to determine the cause of a sporadic, but intense, pain in my left side. The doctors were talking about potential issues with my pancreas and spleen...neither of which sound good, but Dr. Artichoker was able to quickly determine that the problem was actually pretty simple- at some point my ribs had been injured and scar tissue was causing pain to radiate across my side. After several adjustments and a few sessions of "Graston technique" (which I never thought would work, but those metal sticks are pretty much magical), I was pain free. Admittedly, I'm not great with the follow-up, but I pop in if I ever feel the pain coming back. On top of it all he's a nice, cool guy. He listens and isn't pushy. My overall experience has definitely converted this chiropractic skeptic into a believer. read more

I was having severe pain and mobility issues in my hip flexor. It was difficult to workout, sleep, and I had pain throughout my day at work. I came to Dr. Artichoker after trying acupuncture, massage and downing plenty of Aleve, all of which only provided me temporary relief, for a pinched nerve in my neck--with pain and numbness radiating down my left arm. After just one treatment by Dr. Artichoker, I felt greatly improved, and by the third adjustment, I had no pain whatsoever. I was so relieved because the pain was such that it prevented me from sleeping at night and the numbness/weakness in my arm was more than a little troubling. I wasn't sure where to turn before I visited Dr. Artichoker, but I was fairly certain that an M.D. would merely prescribe pain meds and maybe some PT, that would have taken a while to work, if it was successful at all. I've been here twice now, and each time, I have walked out feeling eleventy billion times better than I did walking in. The first time I visited, it was my first time trying dry needling. What an awful name for such a wonderful treatment - it worked wonders for the tendonitis I have in both wrists. Dr. Artichoker explained what was causing my leg/glute/hip pain, and treated all of my many ailments. I got a solid 3 days of relief from pain that had been plaguing me for weeks. Much more than I expected! My followup visit was with Dr. Brown. He was wonderful as well. As an athlete, I find that most medical professionals don't really understand my training, and discourage me from heavy weight lifting. Dr. Brown actually encouraged me to get back into the gym, and gave me some exercises that would help me not only recover, but improve my lifts. I look forward to many, many regular visits with these guys throughout my recovery and even for preventive measures. Their prices are incredibly affordable (literally half of what I paid at my previous chiropractor for arguably better care), and they're centrally located. 10/10, would let them crack my back again. read more

I started seeing Dr. Alexa Sheppard a few months after a horseback riding fall. My tailbone, right hip and lower back would hurt after moderate to strenuous exercise - to the point where it would become extremely painful to walk. I've seen Dr. Sheppard around six times and started feeling relief after the second session. She starts off with the electrical stim, then the massager (which I love!) to help reduce tension and for myofascial release. She also used the Graston technique, which is like a little metal tool. I did dry needling once and was admittedly skeptical about whether it would help. However, I was pleasantly surprised at how much relief it provided. I also appreciate how thorough Dr. Sheppard is - she explained every detail about my condition and treatment. I feel very lucky to have found Dr. Artichoker. I had been having neck pain due to a yoga injury for a year when I went to Denver Chiropractic. I saw one chiropractor for six months who could temporarily relieve my pain, but it always came back within the week. I finally got fed up because I didn't feel that any healing was occuring and I also had the sense that the guy had an "ask no questions" policy. He acted put out by any discussion and I felt that I was going to be on his hook for a long, long time. Then one of my yoga instructors asked how much time that chiropractor spent with me and I said, "Well, he comes in, adjusts me and that's that. Maybe a few minutes." My yoga teacher said, "Go find someone else." So thanks to yelp, I started seeing Dr. Artichoker three-and-a-half months ago and already, my visits have decreased from twice a week to monthly maintenance which tells me that significant healing has occurred. Furthermore, his fee is completely reasonable, even cheaper than the guy who spent only a few minutes adjusting me whereas Dr. Artichoker not only adjusts but uses electrical muscle stimulation and massage. Overall, Dr. Artichoker seems to be wise to the idea that healing patients is good for business. 4 years ago I had bilateral achilles surgery and spent a month in a wheel chair. After a year of pain I finally went to see a chiropractor. Recently I moved and needed to find a new place. I suffered a terrible injury 6 years ago. I herniated 5 discs, dislocated my hip, sacrum, and a few ribs. I have had a LOT of treatment. Everything from chiropractics, massage, physical therapy, and acupuncture. My long-time chiropractor moved out of state last summer, and I hadn't been to a Chiropractor since. It wasn't that I didn't want to, I was just nervous to try someone new. After things got worse, I came in to see Dr. Artichoker. He approached my injury with a fresh mindset, and has helped me take my recovery from 75% to 90%, and I think I may actually get to that 97%. This is something I thought would never happen. I highly recommend Dr. Trent Artichoker at Denver Chiropractic. After two visits I've noticed considerable improvement in my lower back and neck. My first visit included an evaluation. Each visit includes fancy electro-warmth therapy as well as a brief massage before the adjustment. This really helps to loosen everything up. The first visit/eval is $79 and standard adjustment visits are $50 (without insurance). Very reasonably priced. I am 3-months postpartum and I started having really bad lower back pain. I am getting treated by Dr. Rider and after only 3 sessions I am pain free! I had issues with my SI joint. Dr. Rider not only adjusted my back, he also introduced different stretches to do at home. During the visit, he does deep tissue massage and a variety of adjustments. Dr. Rider has been fantastic! After coming in with extreme lower back pain and a shifted torso (likely due to nerve and disc irritation) Dr. Rider was able to help me get had immediate relief after being in pain for three weeks. I was able travel to a wedding that weekend, and he gave me a stretches do to on my own to relieve pain while traveling. Over the next several weeks, I've continued go to Dr. Rider to realign my torso and relieve lower back muscle tightness. Through active release techniques, graston, cupping, and flexion distraction, I've recovered a lot faster than expected. My back spams have stopped; and my mobility and stability are almost fully back. My experience has been above and beyond any chiropractor that I've seen before! Dr. Rider is incredibly knowledgable, professional, and kind; he has been able to distill down what is occurring so I can understand what's going on with my back and get me to laugh along the way. I have been neglecting going to a chiropractor for years, and finally pulled the trigger a few months back. Is LOVE too strong of a word? Because I love these guys! I started coming here in April 2015 and I was miserable. I was having severe nagging neck pain from a fall on my head and shoulder that I had in November 2014. My pain had become so bad that I was unable to sit at my desk, sit in cars, planes or do things that I used to be able to do normally. I would say I had pain for 8+ hours a day every single day of the week. I was miserable and frustrated, especially being an active 25 year old. I started seeing Dr. Downing. She is amazing! You can tell she is super passionate about what she's doing. I spent several months working with her every other week doing graston therapy and adjustments. My pain level improved a lot, but I wasn't as pain free as I wanted to be. Dr. Downing graciously recommended that I switch to seeing Dr. Artichoker to try other therapy options she thought might work. That really showed me how much these people care about their patients here. Dr. Artichoker spent about an hour with my during my first treatment with him in July and I immediately saw results from my first dry needling session with him. He made me feel extremely comfortable about having needles stuck into my muscles and neck, and always made sure my comfort needs were met during the needling. After weekly dry needling sessions I saw a huge improvement in my level of pain and mobility in my neck. I went to having pain for just few hours on 1-2 days a week. After a couple of months, Dr. Artichoker suggested we try laser therapy to keep improving my pain, and to take a break from sticking me with needles. The laser therapy has been the cherry on top of my treatments and I have seen HUGE improvements. I now have pain in my neck maybe 2-3 days a month, for only a few hours at a time. I am as close to normal as I've been since my fall a year ago. I am so grateful to Dr. Artichoker for spending so much time with me and exhausting all possible solutions to get me back to 100%. He really took the time to deliver the highest quality treatments each time, and he helped me identify activities and habits in my daily life that might be triggering pain episodes. Dr. Artichoker was recommended to me by my neighbor. She shared how badly she's suffered from undetected scoliosis until it was discovered by this office. I saw Dr Artichoke once, and he referred me to his partner Dr Downing, since she has expertise in the postnatal pelvic issues I was having. They both worked with me to find a technique I was comfortable with (I had had many painful experiences with chiropractors and only went to a chiropractor this time out of desperation). I requested to be treated with the Activator technique, as my body does not respond well to the "Cracking" practiced by many chiropractors. I felt immediate relief, and Dr Downing has worked with me to give me exercises and stretches so that I can maintain the improvements while decreasing the frequency of my visits. These people are perpetually late with their appointments. It's common to wait 15-20 minutes after your scheduled appointment time to even being taken from the lobby to your treatment room. After you get to your treatment room you're given another 15 minutes of electronic muscle simulation (typically) then you wait some more for a doctor to come in. I really wish that they had even a moderate about of respect for other people's time. If one of the three staff members would acknowledge that they were running behind it would be one thing, but no, they just look like you're the idiot for coming to your appointment on time. I suggest you go to Apollo Soft Tissue in Cherry Creek, it's worth the drive and you'll likely be back home a lot earlier than waiting around this place to be seen. The quality of the care there is also far superior, they've been able to maintain the same staff where Denver Chiropractic can't seem to. read more

Dr. Alexa Sheppard helped me so much after I suffered a torn muscle while climbing a mountain in Greece. Conventional medicine offered only cortisone shots but Dr. Sheppard used a variety of techniques such as muscle stimulation and massage that ultimately provided me relief and recovery. I've been seeing Dr. Artichoker for about 4/5 months now, and I can't tell you how much he's helped with my scoliosis. As chiropractors go - absolutely no complaints. They do a wonderful job with my mother. My issues are with the front desk and with the access. There is no handicap access available. This made it extremely difficult to take my mother up the stairs with her walker and oxygen, especially since I have physical issues of my own. The staff were not friendly at all and spoke only in Spanish so I couldn't tell if it was a problem with me or them. When we went in they didn't try to assist us and when we left they couldn't be bothered to even hold the door open for us. It wasn't until I nearly fell down the stairs with her walker that they asked if they could help. By that time the damage to my back and shoulders was done. I'll be visiting my own chiropractor tomorrow to repair the damage from trying not to fall with the walker today. Like I said - GREAT DOC - oblivious staff. read more
