I am now jobless because they told me and told my boss to find a replacement. A little background on myself, I am educated (criminal justice), I do have a solid working background, I was in the military and did have a military police background, I have a beyond clean background, and no drug history whatsoever! I went through the whole process, I was constantly told I had my spot in the academy. (I have all the correspondence) HR was beyond sure, the background investigator said good luck in the academy, psych testing went well, poly guy said you did great you pose no threat, integrity interviewer said your gonna do great, passed my physical, went through the jail tour. Ultimately throughout the whole process I was a green light and breezed through it. They did let me know you should give your employer a heads-up because we just need the final signing and it looks like a 2 week notice will not happen, not only that but they also spoke to my boss and told her to find a replacement, so she did. Out of the blue I get an email was no longer a candidate, how, why? you told me to tell my bosses to find my replacement! How can I get 10 green lights and on the last step disqualified? How you can tell me we are slotting you for the April Academy, we are just waiting for the signature. I then called HR to ask what was going on just the other day you told me to tell my boss, and I was green light for the academy. I honestly felt like someone did a huge mistake I was very confused. When I called even they were confused! They escalated the situation to find out how this happened. A few emails back and fourth for about a week trying to figure out why they would do that, the boss called me. He told me he was sorry this happened and he understands the frustration and stress I am now under. He felt as well as the others I was a solid candidate. He wished me luck and apologized, I appreciated the phone call but the fact of the matter is I no longer have a job because of what your agency told me. I have a mortgage and a family this has put a huge amount of stress on me due to your misinformation. I really feel you may need to look into the hiring practices you are using, I know you all have jobs and now you can only offer me a sorry, but what you did was wrong.

The City of Denver supports stop lights that are 'timed'. I know this. I always (for over a year…read moreI've been driving this route) look for the one at the bottom of the hill while West-bound on Park Ave when it crosses Globeville Rd. My reactions were not 'on' one morning (7A... shift-change time for the police) and I caught the 'edge' shall we say of a red light. Of course a squad was there (I KNOW this... they're ALways there) and I got absolutely no empathy when the male cop who pulled me over. Okay, I ran a red light. I have a CLEAN license. There was nobody at this intersection for 3 more minutes. Get off with a warning?...Um, NO. But here's my point: He said he appreciated my explanation, but I should have been slowing down from the time I was coming down the ramp and saw the YELLOW light. That's really interesting. I've been (now) timing this light. The yellow light stays yellow for THREE SECONDS. The one closer to Coors Field (next one going East) stays yellow for over SIX SECONDS. So.. just sayin'... I now know why I see so many people pulled over (only) West-bound on Park Ave immediately after this light. It's a money-maker. That's ALL it is. How can one go from 35mph (which is the posted speed limit) to 0mph in 3 seconds?

Dude had a bad attitude after I told him how dangerous what he did was and he trumped up my speeding ticket, he told me I was going 50 in a 40 zone before I confronted him about his dangerous driving and then he came back with a ticked saying I was going 58. He handed it to me and walked away so fast before I could even take a look or ask questions. Dude seems to be miserable and takes it out on drivers lol.

Thornton Police Department is the absolute worst. Officer Carter responded to our call for help…read morewhen we found out that two 14 year old boys were sexually harassing and touching our younger children at the Orchard Farms Park in our neighborhood. They came, took a brief statement, then went to the houses of the boys. One boy's father turned out to be a Northglenn Police officer whose son denied everything. Thornton PD did absolutely nothing. No further investigation. They told me to put GoPro's on my children when they go to the park to play. WTF?! The harassment never stopped, it only escalated. Once the boys knew there was no consequences to their actions, they only got worse. Including harassing another young child on the playground whose father happened to witness it and threatened the boys. We also found out from another set of parents that one of the boys tried to lure a 3 or 4 year old girl from the playground to go to his house to "play." Again this was reported, again, it was ignored. I filed a complaint with the police department through their website, nothing happened. I begged our neighborhood resource office to help us, she ignored my email. They labeled me crazy and refuse to help us. Our kid no longer play at the park we moved to this house for. We've had to have self defense classes for our children, and we are now an armed family. Thornton PD has caused us to lose trust and support in police organizations entirely. If you are the victim of a crime in Thornton, especially a Lennar Metro District neighborhood where they pay police to not do their job so crime rates stay low and home prices stay high, YOU WILL GET NO HELP.

Every day, I see multiple people pulled over for speeding. There is no way that the police officers aren't corrupt in some way. They are either being given insane quotas forcing them to pull over people who are barely driving over the speed limit, or are getting some kind of kickbacks. I wish that they would actually focus on real crime, instead of someone driving safely on a major road.

I've had several issues with this department in the past year. First of all, my truck was stolen…read morelast year and they did absolutely nothing. I ended up finding it behind a car wash on Iliff and Peoria at 2am, after ME doing the investigation for over a week. I called them telling them I found the truck. They told me to wait at the scene and an officer would be there shortly. There was a man parking in his truck right next to mine, my boyfriend walked up asking if he knew anything. My truck was sitting on logs, stripped. Those same logs were in the bed of this guys truck. He offered to buy the truck, we took his phone number for the police because we had suspicion. There were also cameras from the car wash pointing directly at my truck. The police took 8 hours to even show up. And when they did, we offered them the phone number and asked them to get the camera footage to find the people who stole the truck, you know. Descriptions of the suspects, license plates etc. They said no, because this happens so much it's not a priority and they "can't" do anything about it. If anything, it happening so much should MAKE it a priority. Second incident, a few weeks ago I was at horseshoe park when I watched a teenager chuck a baseball at his friend's head. Then yell "the second I'm getting a gun I'm going to a f**king school and killing everyone there. I called the police immediately. They took 2 hours to show up, and by the time they did the boys were gone. Now lastly, and probably the most important one, last Saturday night I was walking my dogs by central recreation center when a blacked out Tahoe pulled into the parking lot slowly creeping towards me. I called my boyfriend to pick me up. A few minutes later a man walking from the trail yells "HEY" at me and immediately starts sprinting towards me, I start running. I'm being chased by possibly human traffickers and luckily there was someone else at the trail who called out for me as he saw me running away and stayed with me while I waited for my boyfriend, which then the man chasing me got in the Tahoe and they sped off. I called the police to make a report, explaining they could get the footage from the outdoors cameras at the rec center to get a license plate, and hopefully be able to find the people before someone else goes missing. They told me someone would call me to make a police report. The incident happened at 9:30pm, I called around 9:45-10pm and they didn't even go to search the area or even give me a call back until 1:30am. And the officer who spoke with me on the phone told me "well what exactly do you want me to do about it?" When I told them about the camera footage, they told me they had no way of accessing the footage. I called the rec center to see if I can get it, and they had told me I'd have to file a police report and they would have to get the footage from them. So the police do have access to that footage. They're just lazy, sorry pos! I'm sorry but Aurora police department is absolutely useless. Oh but I bet once I start actually taking care of these situations myself and doing something that's actually beneficial, somehow they'll want to do something. I cannot express enough how lazy and useless these officers are.
