However, this time I needed someone for my vacation and I was more than pleased. Valerie explained things wonderfully and made me feel at ease. Sherrie watched my cat...sent pics, videos, and left me updates for each day. She even let me know when something was "amiss" at my house (i.e. car in my driveway). She kept in touch and made me feel very comfortable. I was very happy with her and am so happy to know that she will be my primary. The price was way more reasonable than I thought it would be. Ok here's my review: I've hired Jenny, to watch my puppy Mia on multiple occasions but now I have the time to (finally) review Jenny on Yelp. She does a stellar job of watching Mia. The first time I used Furry Up, Let's Go, I wasn't sure about it. But when Jenny showed up, I was reassured! I came back to Mia on the couch sleeping, and on the coffee table, a note from Jenny. It read something like this: Dear Mr and Mrs O, I had a great time watching your dog, Mia! She is such a sweet dog! I hope I can see Mia again soon. Mia seemed to like me as I walked her around the block. Have a nice night! Love Jenny I loved that she actually took time to write me and my hubby a note! PROS Close to our Home Requires pre-screening and yearly Vet reports Manager Hector is FANTASTIC! Our (allowed one-time only) inspection of the inside play area was large and clean. CONS Owner Marty - She has repeatedly offended, been rude and talked down to us. She displays a superiority complex & attitude that she is doing her Us a favour and her rules and expertise should NEVER BE QUESTIONED. She refers to her Facility as a "Club" And promptly corrected me; in her words: "You are mistaken. GDA is not a boarding facility. It is a private club for qualified members and dogs" During our first boarding, she Called us in Europe!! to tell us that our healthy, bright dog was malnourished & suggested she should be fed the food that IS SOLD AT HER FACILITY. (I should have gotten a clue then!) Expects blind trust. When I first asked her if we could see where our dog will sleep in her home; her response was "You want to see My Bedroom??!!" So That never happened, but she has never even sent us a photo or videos during inhome boarding or outside play. We get photos of her inside the barn only. When I expressed my concerns, these were Her words: "To suggest that I care for the dogs in the club who stay here in any other manner than I have told you is disparaging and libelous. I am not going to indulge this negativity. It is not only beneath my dignity, but Yours as well." REALLY!!!!!! And the straw that broke MY camels back; After the last boarding, this past 2 weeks, I simply questioned the odd $total of the charges that she texted me. She was rude and acted offended that I would even Think to question her. I was told that was the total, but also, Her words "since we are providing a service to you, just like a hair salon; you should consider paying a gratuity over and above the boarding fees". WHAT!!!! Now I am expected to add a gratuity for a service that I am banned from seeing, that I'm never allowed to question and that I have no actual proof since my dog cannot talk!! If it hadn't been for our positive experience with Hector, we would have left GDA long ago. Lesson learned Enough said. She will now reply and deny all and threaten me with libel as she has done in the other negative (Google) reviews.

I was excited to try a new facility, but unfortunately, the experience resulted in a distressing incident that has had lasting effects on both Phoenix and my family. When I arrived, I noticed another dog was still being groomed, which surprised me since I had understood the spa operated on a one-dog-at-a-time policy. (On their website, it states, "We follow the principle of grooming one pet at a time to minimize the stress dogs experience from a long wait time in crates.") The owner, Jane, provided me with paperwork to complete. During this time, I observed that she stepped away from the dog she was grooming, and I did not see another staff member present, which made me uneasy. After completing the paperwork, I returned to my car and saw Phoenix standing near the front door behind a small gate. Seeing him there alone concerned me, as it appeared that anyone passing by could potentially enter the store and access him. Wanting to ensure his safety, I remained in my car to keep an eye on him. Some time later, another customer arrived to pick up her dog. I saw her interacting with Phoenix through the door, and then, to my shock, the door opened, and Phoenix got out. We immediately ran after him, but given the location near Dundee Road, where traffic moves at high speeds, I was extremely fearful for his safety. After about 20 minutes of searching, I received a notification that Phoenix's microchip had been scanned--he had been taken by a good Samaritan to the Veterinary Emergency Group (VEG) in Buffalo Grove after being hit by a pickup truck. When I arrived at the hospital, I was devastated. The veterinarians were uncertain whether Phoenix would survive. He suffered a traumatic brain injury, pneumothorax (collapsed lung), and miosis with scleral hemorrhage (eye trauma). My husband and I stayed with him overnight, hoping and praying for his recovery. Now, more than four months later, Phoenix is not the same. He has become significantly more timid, shakes in the car (something he never did before), and exhibits anxiety in new places. Despite extensive training before the accident, his responsiveness has changed. This event has had a lasting emotional and physical impact on both Phoenix and our family. I personally believe this situation could have been prevented with additional precautions. If the spa has a policy of grooming one dog at a time, it would have been helpful for that policy to be clearly followed. The small gate at the entrance did not appear to be a sufficient barrier to prevent a small dog from escaping. Additionally, I believe steps such as ensuring dogs are kept further from the front entrance or keeping the door locked when pets are inside could improve safety. This experience has deeply affected me. My husband and I had to take time off work to care for Phoenix, and I had to rearrange multiple work commitments. More than anything, I now struggle with trusting anyone to care for my dog. While I am incredibly grateful that Phoenix survived, this incident has had lasting emotional effects on our family, and I sincerely hope that safety measures will be reviewed to prevent similar occurrences in the future.

After 4 years of having Michelle as my pet sitter, I highly recommend her. She is reliable and keeps in touch with texts and photos when she's caring for the dogs and bird. When one of the dogs had a health concern, she stayed very aware of his condition and monitored how much he was eating, drinking, etc. I have no doubt that she cares for my pets as if they were her own!

However, today we go and pick up our Lab and she has a cut on her side. When we asked what happened we were told "no idea. Maybe she ran into a cabinet or table but we will check the footage from the groomers office and let you know." The manager calls me and OF COURSE the cameras are down. The manager then tells me that maybe the groomer clipped her when shaving her..... she wasn't shaved! She only had a bath! Do not take your dogs here. Such bad service and my poor dog had to pay the price.
