This used to be my absolute go-to store. I cannot fathom how much I have spent over the years on bourbon. DEPs used to be the absolute best liquor store in Cincinnati, bar none. Unfortunately, things have declined since the purchase by Liquor Barn, and even more since the subsequent purchase of Liquor Barn by GoPuff. No more bourbon tastings, very few single barrel pick, a less-engaged staff, and virtually nothing by way of allocated items (and no, I don't expect to walk in and see Weller 12 or Wm Heavenhill 13 on the shelf, but an occassional Woodford Master's Collection or Makers Wood Finishing Series would be nice). But with all of that said, it is still a great store with a lot of good options and good prices that I continue to visit any time I'm back in the Cincy area. read more

My friend wanted to me to check out the carry out in her area. She told me they had a great selections of wines and she did a Riesling tasting last weekend for only $5.00. I had to see for myself. WOW!! It's so open, bright with great selections of beer, wine, liquor and snacks!! I was really impressed. As soon as we walked in, we were greeted and asked if we needed any help (staff very knowledgeable on the products). I wanted to buy only one thing. I ended up buying a sick pack of New Belgium Pumpkin Ale, Dry Riesling, and a bag of spizels (miniature pretzels with a spicy favor) all for $38.00. Pricing to me is very reasonable. I wish they had one closer to where I live (Cincinnati/Norwood area). I highly recommend DEPS which there are a chain of stores located in the Northern Kentucky area. read more

All I can say is WOW! If you're looking for something they probably have it here. It can be very overwhelming when first walking in as their is alcohol EVERYWHERE but the service is superb! I was searching for a rare bourbon for my fathers birthday, which happened to be bourbon of the year, and I went to 6 stores before I called DEPS and they informed me they had some , behind the counter. They often have the more rare bourbons but you can always call ahead and ask. There are two DEPS stores that are just normal sale then there is another in Covington that is discount liquor ! We walked in knowing of certain things we wanted to purchase for ourselves and for a few family members. We wandered around a bit and interacted with the very knowledgeable staff of the special things we were looking for. Alcohol is a lot cheaper down here than up in Ohio so we were thrilled to fill up a box of bottles. I didn't know Fireball came in so many different size bottles! We had a very enjoyable experience with the staff and when we are down that way again, we will fill up another box! read more

The new location of Deps is much larger (less congested and nicer) than the old location that was behind the car dealership. The way the store "flows" makes it much easier to find what you're looking for. The prices here are pretty reasonable, especially when they have something on sale. I've always had good luck finding good bottles of wine here at a decent price, and the staff is always more than willing to help me if I have any questions. read more

DEP's always keeps me in good spirits... And good beer and wine. They may not be the biggest or have the most massive selection, but what they have is always stellar, and they definitely have some of the best priced around. If you're looking for good beer, you'll find a nice selection of domestics, imports, and craft brew at excellent prices. Also, they usually have some great deals on close-out, where you can score some very tasty brews, including some amazing craft brews, by the case for less than a case of your usual domestic light beer. If you're looking for wine, they have selections from all over the world, and some fantastic selections for as little as $3.99. Hard to beat that! And for spirits, they have a very nice selection of your standard fare, with especially good selections of vodka and bourbon. All at prices to fit any budget. Speaking of bourbon, I highly recommend checking out some of their exclusive barreled bottled from the best bourbon makers to ever produce the beautiful beast. They also carry glassware, bar supplies, mixers, a plethora of gourmet cheeses, a variety of snacks, and non-alcoholic beverages. I don't think this has always been the name of this liquor store, but I don't guess that matters. I stopped in today for Apple Pucker to make appletinis. Not only did I not find it, but no one offered to help me. I was obviously searching for something for quite a while and an employee was stocking the shelves nearby. I decided he must just put out stock since he didn't bother to approach me. Then when I I got to the register with the margarita mix and tequila I bought out of default, he was the cashier. Maybe they just assume you know what you're looking for. It is a large store and is fully stocked. If you find the Apple Pucker, let me know! read more

Best selection of bourbon in town and always the lowest prices. They reward loyal customers with opportunities to purchase rare bourbons and other items. I have always found the staff to be exceptionally helpful and friendly. I started going to the store in Covington because they had cheap, decent wines but now frequent the Ft Thomas location more often. If you are interested in getting good value for your money, Deps is the only place to go. Tell them what you want to spend, and they will show you the best bank for your buck. Good selection of beers and a famously cheap close out section make this a great place to go for what you need and a couple things you didn't know we're there! read more

DEP'S - I have a question for you...how in THE H-E-C-K do you keep your prices so low? For starters I love how DEP'S makes it easy to make decisions. Everything is laid out by type: Whiskey, Bourbon, Tequila, Vodka, Domestics, Craft, Red Wine, Sparkling. I love that everything is right there in that section and there is no hunting anything down or cross pollination in there. A++ for the discount 2 for $10 section of wine! Yes, meaning each bottle is $5. These rotate in and out and I just had to know how they sell these for so cheap because I have seen some of these brands at other stores for full price. I asked and they simply said, the seller wants to get rid of it, sell through it for a new season etc. If that's the case not sure why this doesn't happen everywhere - but I LOVE it. Especially for parties it's nice to grab a huge variety of affordable wine for everyone. Another thing, I drink champagne, cava, sparkling most of the time and a brand I love and usually bring to parties is around $12.99. I have never seen this brand fluctuate a CENT anywhere else. I came here the other day and it was $8.73 or something odd. WHAT!!! Huge win for me. You may not snag the SAME deal every time, but when you're shopping at DEP'S you will feel like you are getting a deal with almost everything you get. I'm officially a loyal convert and will drive out of my way to go here now. P.S. it's conveniently located right off the highway and has a nice parking lot with tons of parking for a quick run in and out. read more

Had a great experience when I called looking for a bottle of Uncle Nearest 1846. Told them I'd read an article from Wine Enthusiast on 10 Black Distillers who are making the nation's best bottles and was looking for this TN whiskey--the young man who helped me hadn't heard of it, but was intrigued and immediately began a search. He found 9 bottles and had one set aside for me immediately! When I went to pick it up, the gents at the register (including the young man who'd helped me) were thrilled to learn about the story of this particular bottle and about the enslaved man who'd taught Jack Daniel all he knew that this bottle was an homage to. We went out for a meal with some friends of friends last weekend - people we had never met before - and the discussion got around to Bourbon. How nice it is, how the world seems a better place with it around, how it's color and aroma is intoxicating and... how long will it damn well be before our server brings us another one? In the course of this lively chat one of our new friends mentioned DEPS and their taking over of the old Liquor Direct store in Fort Thomas. The reason they mentioned this was that they "do very good prices on their bottles of bourbon". Sadly, the wife and I had an entire night's sleep to endure before we could go there the following morning. Our new - alcohol-inducted - chums were completely right! M'lud, I offer up this 750ml bottle of Woodford Reserve at approx $4 cheaper than Party Source as evidence. In fact, other spirits seemed equally keenly priced and we may just have to go there again. And again wonder just how the place is surviving when located in such a crappy-hard-to-get-to-hidden-away-behind-the-Dodge-dealership-poorly-designed strip mall. Where businesses look like they come to die... which is convenient given that a hillside cemetery can be viewed just cross the street. read more

Talk about some deals! DEP's carries all your needs in a fairly small store. You can find about all the local beers, variety of wines, bourbon, and other liquors. They have a great closeout section with wines, many times 2 for $10. You can also find some really good deals if you drop in at the right time. We once got a whole case of Morelein for $12.99! They also do free wine tastings on Fridays which are fun. Knowledgeable and super nice staff as well. The place is clean and well organized. read more

Their staff are friendly and their tastings are a nice touch for those wanting to sample before purchasing a wine or beer. This is a great place to try and buy wines and beers. They also have a good selection of liqours. I have been here for many fantastic beer tastings! They cost $5 and are well worth it. Food is included, beer is served, and a presentation or talk by a distributor is always informative. Presentations have included videos and pictures from breweries around the world and provided the chance to learn about different styles and how they are brewed. I have tried so many new beers and have found some I really liked. Plus the atmosphere is always fun...I have even made new friends just from attending tastings. Sometimes there is even the opportunity to pick up swag such as beer glasses, bottle openers, and keychains. I have also been here for a number of wine tastings. My favorites have focused on a specific country such as South Africa or Argentina. They usually have a good presentation of reasonably priced wines so that if you find one you like you won't mind picking up a few bottles...or a case. But they also have higher end ones for you as well. At the front of the store they have a good selection of beers on tap so you can fill up a growler. All the employees are really friendly and helpful and I have never had a bad experience. I even enjoy receiving their email newsletters to see any new arrivals or specials they have. read more

At this location, DEPS has a pretty diverse selection of wines and a good selection of beers. From what I've heard of the Covington location ("don't bother...that's what I've heard) this DEPS is really clean and stocked with some great choices. Also, the prices have been pretty competitive and sometimes insanely cheaper for some of our favorites. Growlers are available and there is a tap of local, seasonal and just plain interesting brews. This store is now known as DEP's Fine Wine and Liquor. Same store, different name. Really solid store with a great, knowledgeable staff. I may not know a whole lot about wine, but the staff is really helpful and will work with me to find wine that they assure me that I like. On top of a great selection of wine, they also have a wonderful beer selection. Make sure you show up on Friday and Saturday where they give wine tastings (with beer on Fridays!). The wine tasting is free while the beer is $1, but definitely worth it. read more

I was at a wine tasting hosted by a distributor, and since the place they were at didn't sell booze, they felt free to share with me that the best prices on hard liquor were at DEPs in Fort Thomas. They were correct. Not only did they have a very nice selection, everything, from wine to beer to booze, was at least $1.00 less than Ohio state minimum. In fact, they post the Ohio State Minimum price on all the bottles of booze. The $1.00 savings were on beer and cheaper wines. You'll save the extra gas money on just one bottle of liquor in many cases, and they carry a great selection of all the common and some uncommon bottom, middle and top shelf brands. From my house. it's half the drive to The Big Selection Store in Newport, so if all I need is a go to booze, I have no reason to drive any farther. And as mentioned, they grab a lot of close-outs, so your savings may be even greater if you're lucky. read more

I was on the planning committee for a gala benefitting a local high school and called DEP'S for a quote on the alcohol. Richard worked with us and his estimate came in significantly lower than other estimates we received. He never once complained when we asked him to revise numbers or switch bottles out. He was fantastic, and we really appreciated him. When I went to pick up the huge order, they had it ready to go. I wish I could remember his name, but a sweet and kind man loaded up every single crate and box into my car. I am positive he played Tetris as a child and won each time. Returning the unopened and un-iced items went seamlessly. Thank you for being so easy to work with! As the popular Party Source is typically the standard libation retailer in the Cincinnati and Northern Kentucky area, I hadn't heard a lot of DEP's prior to stopping in. Friendly, personable staff, and a pretty huge selection of wine, although I was on time restrictions and not in to really browse. Fairly wide spirits and beer selection, as well. The greatest surprise, however, was after I had grabbed what I needed and discovered the discount section of both craft beers and imported and domestic wines. Whereas retailers typically discard outdated or out-of-season beers, apparently DEP's simply marks them lower and lower until they've finally disappeared. I was able to get a Stone Enjoy By IPA and a few other interesting bombers for as little as $1.99! As for the discount wine section, I believe the least expensive imports started at 1 or 2.99 a bottle and reasonably exceeded $10 or so. Clearly, the retailer provides a wide selection of premium wines and spirits as well, but I hadn't stopped in to browse for long. Really recommend checking out some of these unbelievable deals! read more

Their prices pretty well beat any other place in the Tri-State. And they have wine tastings and painting classes on certain days. It's a very clean establishment compared to other places.
