These guys are awesome. They've been in Ottawa for as long as I can remember--I'm 35 now. They're extremely helpful. I have a kickstand scooter, the Vsett 10+, and they've provided all the information I needed. The owner is very understanding. Honestly, this is perhaps my favorite purchase ever. If you think the price tag is steep, it isn't. The price of feeling like a child again and having maximum fun is worth it, especially with the higher-end models. Worst customer service imaginable. $850 after repair, Emmo bike continues to drop the charge and needs to be towed. The shop claims it's the batteries which are brand new. Suggests selling me new batteries. Andre first told me it was the charger that needed to be checked and that I should have dropped it off... they have the charger. A different sales person informed me smart chargers can't be checked. Andre informed me my bike was being serviced as we spoke, and the next day when I called to inquire, said that the service person had been sick for three days and he didn't have an update. Either Andre either has no brain power anymore or literally lies through his teeth. DO NOT take your bike here. read more

Like a lot of others on here my story is scary similar.i went in to buy a emmo gt 84 (around $3000 purchase. There was an older guy talking to a couple and a younger guy sitting behind the counter doing nothing. So I wait and wait. The younger lifts his head to check me out a couple of times and then goes back to staring at his phone. Not a word from anyone. No hello. No we'll be right with you. No nothing.After waiting around and being totally lgnored, I began to feel unwelcome and embarrassed to be letting a cutomer get treated like this. So I left. I had been watching youtube videos on the product and saw this lady fro ma company called ride the wind,outside of Toronto somewhere. She was obviously a very serious and motivated dealer with a ton of helpful ideas on all her products. So I called her. She was with a client so the person asked if I would like to hold so i said ok. Maybe 2 minutes later person picks up the phone and says she is still with a client. Would i like her to call back so I'm not waiting on the phone? Ok!! Shortly after(5 or 10 minutes ) the phone rings and the person on the line introduces herself as Jolene. Gave me all the time i needed to make the proper choice. I haven't received the bike yet . I ts only been a couple of days, but this review isnt really about ride the wind. its about whether or not you are prepared to be treated by companies like derrand because maybe they are the only game on town. I STRONGLY RECOMEND DO NOT GIVE THEM BUSINESS! I booked an appointment to have my windows tinted 2 weeks in advance. I told them when I booked it that I needed my car by 4pm. NO PROBLEM Andre said!!! I dropped the car off at 9am exactly when then asked me to. I again told them that I need my car by 4pm and Mike said it would be done by 3pm. I called at 2 to see if it was ready... was told wouldn't be ready until 4pm... got there at 3:50pm and was told it would be another hour... Not sure what the man's name was that I dealt with but he told me that they were busy and I'd just have to wait... I finally got my car at 6:30pm AND it had an extra 10kms on the odometer than when I dropped it off!!!! Bottom line... WORST CUSTOMER SERVICE I HAVE EVER EXPERIENCED!!! The actual tint job was well done and the price was fair ($230). If you do choose Derand make sure you're not in a hurry and that you have them write your odometer reading on a receipt WHICH YOU BOTH INITIAL when you drop your car off. I would gladly pay and extra $50 to have the business maintain the appointment time and have the peace of mind no one is joyriding in my car!!! I would suggest avoiding buying an E-Bike here like the plague. I personally purchased an Emmo Urban bike that never worked a single day. It took two weeks to arrive from the Emmo warehouse and when I got the bike home it would power down after about 2km. The mechanic said it was a faulty battery, the second battery also powered down after about 2km, the mechanic said that battery was faulty. The third battery they told me to use was a lead acid one and sent me home with a lithium charger. After 8 months of waiting I dropped the bike off and sent a registered letter to this company requesting they send me a refund. Needless to say Derand Motorsports ripped me off for 2,000$. If you do buy something use a credit card so you can dispute your purchase if you get screwed. read more

Being a bit of an audio file, I felt a professional audio system was what my car needed. After re-searching my hardware requirements off to Derand I went. The staff and installation was excellent however the sound quality was terrible. Turns out The gains were incorrectly set. After purchasing a distortion detector and volt meter from Amazon. I preceded to set up the input gains on the amps according to some you tube videos I watched. Today the car sounds amazing. read more

This place is an absolute ripoff. I went in before Christmas to buy a car starter and specifically stated it was for a manual transmission. Made an appointment on January 2/17 to have it installed. Drove 45 minutes to the place for my appointment and turns out the guy sold me the wrong one. Sold me a starter for a automatic. Wanted me to pay extra to get the manual starter. I refused and asked for a refund. They stated could not give me a refund yet but I could come back in the afternoon. I informed them I wasn't coming back as its 40 mins just one way. They said they would mail me a cheque. It has been a month and I still haven't received anything.. I have called three times now and still nothing. Not a single person never even asked me my name or anything. I asked to speak to the owner, and apparently he is away for 10 days. This place is a ripoff and do not recommend anyone going!! read more

I went to Derand for professional service, I found out they offer anything but that. I had my windows tinted and I explicitly requested that my windows had to be legal in Quebec. I was informed that I would be OK (by Sunny) with the tint selected. Some months later I was stopped by police officer and photometer tested, my windows were NOT legal and far from it. The limit in Quebec is 30% while mine showed at 19%. I contacted Derand to see if something could be worked out for the employee (Sunny) had probably made an honest mistake and installed the wrong tint in the front. It turns out I was misinformed, after multiple emails it was clear that no one at Derand seems to know the laws concerning tinting of either Ontario or Quebec. This is what Sunny replied with: "By law in north America, you are not allowed any tint on the 2 front windows, that is the actual law written. " - A simple look at both governments (Ontario/Quebec) website clearly state that it is legal and in Quebec it has been that way for over 20 years since I always had them tinted at the legal limit for all my cars. Then he proceeded with the following: "When we tint cars we specifically specify that tint is not legal on the 2 fronts but what they tolerant is 35% but most of the people get away with 25%..." If that is the case then why did they put 35% on mine, knowing full well I already had a slight factory tint? Why not install a higher tint so I remain legal? Then Donald replied with: "on the bill is says tint is illegal period, any aftermarket accessories sold by Derand may not be street legal, it is the customers responsibility to determine that" -saying on the bill it might be illegal does not absolve one if you've informed you client it would be OK when he clearly asked to be legal BEFORE the installation. Donald also stated: "so you're trying to say if i sell you an aftermarket exhaust and i say its legal and you get a ticket for the exhaust that it's my fault and i should be paying the ticket? Doesn't make any sense, no" basically he's implying he can say whatever he wishes to a customer and then just because the final bill of sale says another thing it's OK. As a customer I expect them to inform me properly and that they know their products and it's laws, they claim to be the professionals, not me. Finally when I spoke with Andre (the owner) in person he also indicated he was not aware of the laws as he asked why I had removed the tint on both sides of the front windows? I explained that it was the law that both front windows be no less than 30% (as indicated on the government website) he replied with "No it isn't". Andre stated that they installed 35% in the front and with the 15% factory tint it would be bring me in the 19% range, so basically agreeing that they made my vehicle illegal when I explicitly asked to have a legal tint. I would have accepted that it was simply an error on their part not installing the proper tint and them having the courtesy to reimburse part of the work (since I had to remove it) and the ticket, I would have left a returning costumer but their total lack of wanting to take responsibility, disregard for customer service AND that they sell products for which they obviously have no clear understanding of the laws will not have me coming back there for their less than professional service and certainly NOT recommending them. I live in Northern BC, and I drove to my hometown, Ottawa to visit my mother and brother for the Christmas holidays. I decided to replace the stock radio in my car on Boxing Day and bought a AVH-200BT radio, DVD, RDS, Bluetooth receiver. I looked online and decided to go to Derand Motorsport to buy the parts i needed to install the radio in a 2005 Ford Freestyle, AWD, Limited with the Audiophile stock system. My brother and I drove to the store on December 27th, 2014. Once the staff ascertained that I was out of province and that I wanted to do the installation myself, their demeanour changed and it was obvious that I and my brother weren't wanted there anymore. They never asked to look in the car or any details about the current radio and proceeded to sell me 180$ worth of parts. Steering control interface for $95.00, a faceplate for $40.00 and a antenna adaptor for $25.00. The guy (Andre Derouchie) typed the prices in, right out of his head. Im certain those prices were just made up on the fly, looking back on that moment. I decided to try the install that afternoon and it quickly became apparent that maybe I was in over my head because nothing I was sold would fit. I called Derand out of desperation and asked when they could do the install. They told me it was 65$ per hour and it would probably take 3-5 hours to install. They didn't have the required wiring harness to install. Thank god. I went online on ebay and bought mounting trim bezel and wiring harness for $13.95. Yesterday, I installed the new radio and it was done in two hours which includes the wiring harness. Not one of the parts Derand sold me could be used in the installation. The clowns at Derand are rip off artists. Avoid this place like the plague. read more

Worst Customer service imaginable. It is almost like they forget they are running a business. I called ahead to make sure they had the back rack and attachments I needed, I saw an ad online for their store saying they sold it for $250+T. I was assured they had it so I went into the store, 45 minutes after ignoring the only customer in the store, I get assistance in the form of a young man telling me sorry we don't have your item in stock, also it will be $450+T mounting brackets sold separately. Needle3ss to say I turned around and bought the Back Rack off Amazon for $250+T, but now the store is claiming they don't even sell the mounting brackets the man showed me in store last week! Okay so been wanting to review them for while but my anger kept me from posting. I fully wrapped my Tesla with xpel ultimate plus, ceramic coating, chrome delete, window tint, wrapped inside trim. It costed around 6500 at least. Anyway wrap was not done properly, everywhere around wrap got dirt covered within months. It was not hidden properly at all. If you go back he will just keep trimming it off cause of how cheap they are. The chrome delete was laughable, Andre saying it is impossible to do it perfect. If fold mirrors it will scratch. Another body body shop did it 100% perfect. I can fold mirrors too with no issue whatsoever. Window tint was done few times cause everytime there were bubbles. He said no tint is 100% which is full of crap. They actually scratched windows and I'm looking into legality of this cause scratched windows a lot and body shop showed me on why they don't look like other cars. My windows need to be replaced. Basically I redid entire car again everything and paid another $6500. So $6500 cash gave derand went down the drain. So as of now nothing on my Tesla been done by them and advise others to run. read more

Called Derand and a few hours later they drove to my place, ascertained the problem and fixed it right then and there! Worst experience ever purchasing an ebike with these guys. The salespeople (owners) providing information to the customer argue in front of the customer. Heard them talking to a customer trying to get details on an ebike over the phone, the owner was yelling at the customer on the other side about how " [he] doesn't touch bikes that you buy from somewhere else. [He] sells enough of them, [he] doesn't need to." So overly confident that if you don't have the cash they want in hand, they barely acknowledge you. Highly unprofessional, dishonest and disrespectful. They will literally say anything or do anything for the profits. Watch for last minute "miscommunicated add-ons." Would not recommend. read more

These guys have done a few cars for me and I wouldn't go anywhere else. I had a great experience with them. I had to drop my car off a couple times and they gave me a ride into work. The owner stayed late one night so I could pick up my car and the next time they actually dropped it off for me at work. They even rearranged their schedule so it would work with mine. We talked constantly on the phone for several days until the deal was done and I was completely happy. After the install they called me several times to make sure everything was working well and that I was happy with it. I know there's ever a problem down the line I can always go back. They worked within my budget and I'm confident I got the best products for the price. They're treat you like a friend. It's not out of the ordinary to see guys dropping by just to say hi..actually that happened a few times while I was in there. I think I talked to one of the guys for a couple hours myself. They're honest and most of all they know their stuff. read more

I had a double din stereo with navigation installed to my car a month or so ago. I believe they did a good job installing the deck since I haven't had any issues with it to this day. Definitely drop your car off since they likely busy and you don't want to spend hours waiting. I gave them 3 out of 5 stars because my car was left a bit dirty and the price could be a little cheaper but over all happy with the install. read more

Wow, so one lady buys a bike a week ahead of time, and instead of confirming delivery the day before, like any normal person would/should do (if it was so important), she waits until the very day of the delivery, after the important deadline is past, no less, and then decides to call... I would guess there are probably 50+ transactions being processed there in a day, and I'm probably being conservative. After 300+ clients being processed, it's only normal that a very busy staff might forget to place a call or meet a delivery deadline. But wait, certainly a goddess that elicited such overhanded sexual overtures would be remembered? The bike should have been delivered in such a rush, if only for the sake that the love striken deliveryman could see his earthbound Aphrodite? Or maybe he was just innocently flirting and being froliscome. Maybe had she had the foresight to call the day before, all the drama could have been avoided. Then she wants the sales staff to falsify a receipt? Is she for real? And this other clown who gets his windows tinted, gets caught and then want Derand to pay the fine? Wow! Some people are really far out. So say I get a upgraded turbo installed in my car, and I get caught speeding, it's up to the shop to pay the fine? Why did the cops pull him over in the first place? Was he being an asshole, being all cocky and mouthy? Think about it, how many times have you heard of people getting pulled over because of their window tints and getting fines for it. At the very least, if you're cool, calm and polite, the officer will give you a few days to pull the tint. If you're going to have tinting done, you should learn the laws, BEFORE the act is done. In Ontario, it's up to officer discretion. In Quebec, it's 30%. A little charm and cool under pressure will get you a long way when dealing with the fuzz. Fine print is fine for a reason. Don't hate the company for having out clauses that cover their behinds. Dealing with a demanding and volatile public can be tenous at best. Getting read fine print shouldn't be a surprise, because you should know what you're signing in the first place. Don't be angered at your own ignorance, because you were too lazy to do the reading. Caveat Emptor and all that... If there was a problem with the tint, it should have been called right on the spot and the job deemed unacceptable. Not after having driven around for god knows how long and then getting caught mouthing off to the cops. This other Magnum PI wanna-be tapes a bunch of guys while they're working on cars. What the hell did you expect! They're guys working on cars! Place hidden cameras in any like business, anywhere around the world, take out the pop-corn and be prepared to be amazed. Or shocked. Probably both. Now to be frank, I didn't watch the whole thing, because first I thought, (Yawn), where are the hookers? Where's the crack pipe and the bong? Where's a drunken and high Rob Ford? But then I stopped because it felt wrong. Taping unsuspecting people is just too Big-Brother Fascist for me... Even if you're trying to prove a point. Big boasting trash talk is life. Who hasn't done it. We all talk a lot of trash when we're amongst friends, but we don't necessarily mean everything we say. I'm sure the owner doesn't condone this type or behavior, but you can't control humanity any more than you can control your next bowel movement. Now, before you all go, 'This guy must work at Derand... He has a vested interest', let me just state that I don't work at Derand and I have absolutely no interest in the company. I'm just a very satisfied customer (albeit a fairly new one) who happened to find these scathing reviews online and I decided that enough was enough. Trolling and bashing is just too easy to do in this age of anonimity. And anyways, reading some of them just made me shake my head in wonder. Some people really are unbelievable, some are just plain stupid, and some are unbelievably stupid. I've met and spoken to many of the Derand staff. They are all very knowledgeable, kind and courteous. Of course, Ron, who's legend is heralded throughout the land is a larger than life character. Such is his machismo and dignitas, that it can barely be contained in his earthly, fleshy core, and by consequence, lesser beings are just intimidated by his awesomeness and left to gape in wonder at his epic countenance. well for my first 2015 accent they installed a quick ass system custom install from under the hood to the trunk subs 2 amps all speakers auto start and tinted my widows soooo happy with boys took my new sonata sport rite from the dealership got the same thing plus a full wrap with this amazing product XPEL it's been a year now of my every Friday car washes and my 3 dogs jumping at my door when I get home and not a scratch or chips still shines like the day I seen it in the show room I'm still amazed. Unfortunately after having my windows tinted by the fine people at Derand I am still upset after 2 visits. I had my windows tinted at the location on Newmarket street and they did a poor job leaving dirt and air bubbles under the tinting. With the managers word and Derands lifetime guarantee I said I would return to have it repaired at a later date. Upon returning I was told that they would not fix the tinting with the dirt under it and that they will fix the air bubbles the best that they can. After being lied to, cheated and basically told they wouldn't honor their word or guarantee I strongly recommend that you do not use this company for any of your automotive needs. read more

Poor service overall. Purchased a new electric scooter which totalled at 3544$, and they could not provide change as I purchased it cash so they rounded it up to 3550$. Scooter was left in the back for me to pick it up, which I then realized the fairing on the scooter was missing a screw. Staff asked what I wanted to do about it, I of course stated I'd like the screw that fits it. So the staff decided to take one off of the other scooter on the sales floor leaving the next buyer in the same predicament. Staff is short in temper, lack of knowledge about the product as what they told me about the scooter in terms of specs was different then that on the brands website, and left feeling regret about the purchase. The sales person and brother of the owner, Don, made me uncomfortable by flirting with me as a sales tactic. One statement made was about how beautiful my hair looked flowing behind me as I rode the bike and that he wished he'd had a video camera. After ignoring multiple similar statements and hoping my facial and body expressions would display my discomfort, I decided to be more explicit and stated my preference that we confine our conversation to the bike. Donald told me that he loved his bright yellow Igo Titan and rode it everywhere. I purchased an Igo Titan for a total of 2,147.00. I clearly articulated that the bike would need to be delivered to my downtown office the following Tuesday, July 2nd, before 6 p.m., as I would be unavailable afterwards. He acknowledged this statement, and he turned to his brother and said, "Hear that, Andre? I need to leave by 5:30 at the latest on Tuesday!" On July 2nd, at 6:10, I called the store and spoke with Don. Don had no idea who I was, despite being 10 minutes late to deliver my bike to me as per our agreement, and his response to my displeasure about not receiving my bike as per our agreement included statements such as 1. I sell 20 bikes a week, so I can't be expected to remember who you are. 2. It's been really busy today - I just couldn't get out of the store. 3. Can't I just bring you the bike now a. To this, I responded that if it were okay to bring me the bike after 6 pm, I wouldn't have explicitly mentioned, multiple times, that I needed to receive the bike before 6 pm when I purchased it. I insisted that he deliver the bike to my residence, and he agreed to do this. When I arrived home, the bike had not been delivered. There was no voice mail at either my home or my office. On July 3rd, I called Derand's first thing in the morning and spoke with Andre. Andre stated the bike had left the previous night on the truck, and he was not able to explain why the bike was not at my house. In compensation, Andre promised me an extra power charger (valued at ~90 dollars). Spoiler alert: I never received this. Later that afternoon, the bike was delivered to my work. Less than three weeks later, the battery ceased delivering power to the bike. It is not fun biking a 60-pound bike uphill with no electric assistance. I brought the bike into the store on July 25th. The problem was that the brake sensor had loosened and, for safety reasons, the bike batteru wouldn't support the acceleration of a rider. The mechanic hot glued the brake sensor and assured me I would have no further problem. Donald suggested that the problem was that I had put the bike into the back of my cargo van, seizing an opportunity to place blame on the customer for a mechanical failure. He also stated that this problem had never occurred to any customer before. He then told me that he was going to make my day. He said, "Because of the difficulty you've had with this bike, I called the factory and guess how much they're going to refund to you? 300 dollars!" He asked me a strange question: Had I sent in the warranty to the company yet and was relieved when I stated I had not. He told me he would need to issue me a new bill of sale. It did make my day. A week later, curious about Igo as a company, I began to google Igo. I then noticed that this $300 rebate was actually a factory wide rebate in the amount of $300 dollars that had begun after I'd purchased my bike. This explained the question about returning my warranty paper to the company with the bill of sale: Donald was using this factory wide rebate as a tool to assure me of his hard work on my behalf. He could have simply offered to change the date of the bill of sale and perhaps even offered to do the paperwork for me, and I would have been pleased. WOW I can't believe how amazing the people are at this company. They are very personable and very knowledgeable about the products they sell. They care about their customers, so they are honest and don't try to upsell you, which is hard to find now a days. It does take a few hours to do the work, so I would suggest leaving your vehicle there and come back, but what do you expect if you want the job done right, professionally and good it is going to take time. The prices are fair and reasonable, if you are looking for an alarm system and/or starter I HIGHLY recommended going here!!! read more

Just had Xpel self healing film put on my new 2016 Subaru Crosstrek. I really want to avoid all those tiny rock chips the car always gets on highway 417 east of Ottawa. Scott, at Derand, did a professional install of the entire hood, half of each fender, headlights and the backs of each mirror. Incredible install of a great produt - it's practically invisible unless you know exactly where to look and the tiny metallic fleks in the paint still show through perfectly. Scott and the owner, Andre, gave great advice on what to cover and the cost was quite reasonable. I am thinking of having the plastic bumper and the front of the roof done as well now at Derand. read more
