There has been a fight on lately to keep this integral part of the community open, as there is said…read moreto be no need for it. But Newmarket Hospital is very important to the community. Although there is no longer an accident and emergancy available at the hospital, it is a very busy hospital. Personally, I have used it for pregnancy scans and other x-rays, blood tests, midwife appointments, and out of hours gp visits. Without these, I would have had to travel 25 minutes to the nearest larger hospital, and having the emergancy doctor close by is so important, as without it I would have been wasting valuable time of the paramedics had I needed to call an ambulance. The hospital also takes care of a lot of the elderly members of the community, and the younger, by having a bay clinic twice a week. It would be a real shame and loss to the community if the hospital were to close down.

I appreciate the tv monitors on the ceiling when you lay back to allow the dentist or dental hygienist to work their magic. It is for those who suffer anxiety due to not wanting to see the dentist. They have calming videos of fish and sea life that puts you at ease. I don't love the dentist, but I don't have anxiety when seeing the dentist either, but the idea to put monitors on the ceiling for the patients benefit to reduce anxiety shows you how much they care about their patients. Everyone in the practice is very nice. That is refreshing. I like the fact they take my dental insurance. I had a thorough exam done by Guillermo Pradas Checa, he goes by William because most people can't accurately pronounce Guillermo, but I can because of my Spanish background. Guillermo is also from Spain, it was a nice surprise to have a Spanish dentist. He is very knowledgeable and gentle, I have found myself a new dentist, I will keep coming back to The Terrace Dental Centre. My dentist did identify a new problem that I did not know I had, that I grind my teeth at night, he suggested an intervention, and I will be speaking with my insurance and see if they are willing to cover it. My hygienist was great! I didn't get her name, but I have to assume that they are all fantastic. I got a great teeth cleaning, I feel so much better now knowing I have super clean teeth. My hygienist was very knowledgeable and gentle and very kind. I found myself falling asleep during my teeth cleaning, that is how gentle she is, although I woke myself up because I didn't think she'd appreciate a sleeping patient when trying to clean their teeth. I don't know anyone who actually looks forward going to the dentist, but I am actually looking forward to my next check up and teeth cleaning. I'd suggest The Terrace Dental Centre to anyone needing a dentist or looking to change their dentist.

What a change it is today and the receptionist are so poor and do not do there jobs correctly and are rude, so you end up being rude back to them. Im done with this practice as I've been very ill all year, they didn't request the right tests to be taken at hospital etc even though I told them I had been to Dominican republic in March 2024. I have been in terrible pain and very unwell and unable to work. It has taken until Nobvember to have tests at Addenbrooks hospital who have been brilliant, I have been diagnosed with longbterm chikungunya which is a mosquito borne disease. Addenbrooks wrote a letter to the surgery telling them I needed to carry 2 epi pens at all times and strong antihistamines with me. I heard nothing until I contact the surgery and said oh yes I can see the letter but done nothing about it. So i said can we get it sorted please, a wek later I receive a text from boots saying my prescription is ready, just rhe antihistamines and no epi pens where there. I contacted orchard house spoke to receptionist who was rude and very unhelpful saying did I request the epi pen I said yes last week and you have the letter from Addenbrooks hospital with the request, so she started talking over me and said I need to put a request in writing for medication but hang on I have received the antihistamines and this wasn't said last week by the receptionist. I said I want to make a complaint to the manager and was told to do this in writing which I will do later to day. If I have a replace and can't breath I will be seeing the practice and the very unprofessional receptionist. I will not be going to this surgery in the future as it's not the 1st time I've had poor treatment, especially feom Dr Holland with my back problems and mri scan.

I have been registered at Orchard House surgery for around 8 years now…read more This is a big practise, with around 10 doctors and 4 nurses rooms. Its all on one floor, and the reception area is very quiet and laid back, and is well looked after. There is a small play area to keep children occupied while waiting. Doctors rooms are split into two different corridors. Waiting times can be very long, my longest was a 25 minute wait after my appointment time. They recently installed a new telephone system, which is rubbish, as you can only get an appointment for at least a week later, so its better to just hold and speak to a receptionist. The doctors are highly professional, and are great at their jobs. The nurses run regular clinics, including a quit smoking and asthma ones.
