I realize not all people get the same results from the same doctor, because we are all different, have different needs and medical problems. Dr. Judy Dercksen is a very competent and skilled physician in her field of expertise. She has been my personal Dr. for as long as she has been in Quesnel. So many of our physicians are only here for short tours of duty then they leave. She had planted herself firmly, and professionally in this sometimes unforgiving northern arena, and for that dedication I am extremely grateful. She not only is a great doctor, she is an outstanding citizen. As Quesnel is sometimes referred to as the 'city of flowers' , I must say she clearly stands out as one of the brightest and beautiful ones. Thanks for all you do to make our lives better. With gratitude and appreciation. Abbey B read more

I am completely paralyzed from the chest down, confined to wheelchair and I have chronic severe muscle spasms and chronic pain in my back and torso. To control the pain I take 2 drugs - Pain killers Percocet and hydromorphone. On August 25th 2015 I went to my family Dr. Dercksen to try once again and get some progress with pain issues in my wrists and shoulders. I discussed a possible bladder infection and got some antibiotics for what is a chronic bladder infection. We also talked about a bowel issue and got some pills for sleep. I wanted to talk and try to get into a dentist for trouble I am having trouble with a tooth. I did not want pain killers. I did not need any pain killers. Somehow threw talking about me getting some sleep as I do not get to sleep until 2 or 3 AM because of pain EVERYWHERE, we got off topic as to how, when, etc I take my pain meds. Dr. Dercksen suddenly with jaw dropped nearly yelling, tells me "no more". I have been taking these meds for pain for over 36 years and now suddenly it's a problem?. Instead of moving forwards and getting a diagnoses for the pain I have in my arms and other issues, I have suddenly gone back in time 36 years! I have tried to find out what's wrong with my wrists for over 7 years and as I cannot get a diagnoses. I have to depend on these pain meds I get just to do basic everyday functions. In all the paper work she gave me that day was a form for what I thought was a urine analysis culture, (I cannot see without reading glasses), Instead it was an order for a pee test for illegal drugs. She give me antibiotics and no requisition for a urine culture. I was so sick and sore lately from this bladder infection I could not make it to the lab until 2 weeks later. She also knows I drive a pickup truck that is difficult for me to get into. I have to take pain killers the night before so I can get into my truck in the morning and drive to the doctors office. I have complications with antibiotics as the older I get the more resistant I am to antibiotics. I do not drink or smoke cigarettes. I mostly stay home as I have to do catheters every 2 hours. I never go out at night ever. I am in bed every night at 8 PM. I still manage to go hunting and fishing with a lot of people here in Quesnel. Some of my friends from Quesnel are well into their 80's. Dr. Derckesn knows 4 years ago I nearly was killed in a house fire where my house burned to the ground because I had an accident cooking on my stove top where I dropped a basket of French fries into a lit stove top BECAUSE OF MY WRIST ISSUE where my fingers and wrists lock up on me. I was trapped in my wheelchair in the fire that quickly spread. I made a break out the door just in time to watch my house burst into flames. Most days I am lucky if my food does not end up on the floor instead of my mouth because of the issue with my hands. I have passed 2 previously ordered pee tests that where also demanded upon me. I have had excellent healthcare from over 100 doctors since my accident. I have never had a Doctor ask that I take such pee tests before Dr Dercksen. What is she looking for anyways? She knows I have a permit for medical marijuana! I have nothing to hide! I have never had a car accident that has been my fault in my 45 years of driving. Dr Dercksen said she "would not have it on her conscience if I had a car accident" but loseing my life in a burning house down is ok?? Last week I got a letter from Dr. Dercksen saying she is no longer my physician because I never went for my pee test. No warning nothing. Just a letter ending our relationship. THERE ARE NO OTHER DOCTORS TAKING PATIENTS IN QUESNEL!!! This is completely out of line from a professional Doctor. My latest culture shows I am resistant to all but 1 oral antibiotic. The other 2 are IV antibiotics. The antibiotic she prescribed to me does not work. Dr. Dercksen falls into 2 of the 3 criteria from the College for filing a complaint. The following is a list of other problems I have had with Dr. Dercksen. 1. Over 8 years ago, Dr. Dercksen in front of a room full of patients tells me to "leave my service dog outside" when I came into the clinic for an appointment. 2. Four years ago she called me into the clinic and told me I had stage 4 kidney failure and for three agonising weeks I had to figure out what to do. When I made an appointment to talk about stage 4 kidney failure she she discovered that she read my numbers wrong!. I had told everyone in my life I had a big problem and had gotten all my affairs in order!!!!!. 3. 2 years ago I went in for my first ever cortisone shots in my left shoulder for pain relief. With my right index finger on my left shoulder, I directed Dr. Dercksen to the left shoulder. When she washed it all down she went behind me and injected the right shoulder!! Then tells me to come back in 2 weeks to have the left shoulder done! read more
