I got lash extensions from Kathleen for my wedding (photo uploaded). She was very accommodating when it came to scheduling appointments, and got me in for my allergy test very quickly. We scheduled the actual application for 3 days before my wedding, and she offered to fix if there were any huge problems (like 2 lashes falling out the day before the wedding, etc)) but luckily nothing was necessary. When I went in for the application, she was very patient with me.. I guess I flinched ALOT, more so then any of her other clients, but she kept trucking on, and made sure that they looked beautiful. She turned on music, and worked away. It felt as though she were applying mascara over and over again - and eventually we were finished. She also did a brow wax and the whole process, (with flinching!) took 1 hour and 15 minutes. She said usually it takes about 15 minutes less, but she wanted to be sure that mine were perfect because of the big day! Here I am three weeks later, and they are still in tact, (Ive lost 3 or 4 I think) I can run out the door without any mascara, and my lashes still command attention. LOVE IT! I came to Kathleen for eyelash extensions. A friend had recommended NovaLash as one of the better lash glues. I did a search on their website and this brought me to Dermal Dynamics. She is my first and only experience with lash extensions, so I don't have much to compare to. She is sweet and explains the process. I like how she is very hygienic and knowledgeable about her products. The process took just over an hour. She also gives a lash care instruction sheet. I LOVE how my lashes look. Kathleen's style is baby doll, so the lashes get longer towards the temporal (ear) side. It gave a nice balance between natural and glam. I usually go to the gym before work. Someone asked if I had put on a full face of makeup for the gym. Nope! Just my lashes! I love that it shortened my routine for getting ready for work. Maintaining them is fairly easy. Brush them if they get wet and don't sleep on them were the main things. But there is a little but of a love-hate relationship. My eyes are mildly sensitive. After application my eyes teared until the glue completely dried. I also noticed in the shower, the glue tended to reactivate as it would sting when the lashes would get wet. Then there comes the day when you start to notice missing lashes. Unfortunately for me, my lash cycle seems to be on the faster side because I found myself in need of a fill by week 3. A fill every three weeks was becoming difficult on my budget, but otherwise I would've loved to keep my lashes forever and ever. Wow, I am so shocked and dismayed by the review that was just left here. Such a scathing review - makes me wonder. First of all, very inappropriate for this user to list the full name of the aesthetician - that screams of bad etiquette and perhaps a personal vendetta? I'm just saying... I am not a friend or family member of this salon, but I am a faithful client - and have been getting my lashes beautified here for over 2 years! Kathleen has done my lashes over 50 times in the past couple of years - and I have NEVER EVER had a bad experience. Not even remotely... In total I have been enjoying eyelash extensions for over 6 years, I have been to super pricey salons, and I have been to dumpy salons, I have a lot of experiences with which to judge Kathleen's work - and she does excellent work. She is meticulous in her lash application and separation, no one does it like her with the natural babydoll-like lash progression... that's why this other review truly concerns me. As to the comfort factor, just like anything else with "beauty" there can be a few unpleasant moments of discomfort. It happens. But, I find it INCREDIBLY hard to believe that Kathleen would "disregard" anyone's discomfort. She is nothing but professional and courteous. She turns on her bed warmer, offers a leg support pillow, constantly asks if you are doing OK - so, unless she was invaded by aliens that day - I really don't get it. My first lash extension experience was at a very expensive salon in Burbank a few years ago. They drove me crazy and after two weeks started taking them off (along with my real lashes) myself and swore to never do them again. A month ago I started performing in a show and had to purchase false lashes. Well that was a pain, literally pulling some of my own lashes out after each performance not to mention the discomfort and constant worry that they are on evenly or fall off. So I decided to give lash extensions one more try. I had called several salons with RIDICULOUS prices (STARTING full sets @ $200+) and found Kathleen. Being Asian I dont have long or full lashes. Even on days I would THINK of wearing mascara Id have to use a lash curler & slowly and gradually add layers of mascara. Kathleen CHANGED all that. The application process to a little over an hr but thats because of my tiny lashes. She was very professional and extremely meticulous in her application. Admittedly the ONLY unpleasant part was the removal of the under-eye protectors she uses to keep the lashes from sticking to your skin, but it wasnt horrific. I have to remove mic tape after EVERY performance and it pulls off hair! The stickies Kathleen used were a little inconvenience I didnt mind at all. The results have changed my life. I no longer wear ANY type of eye make-up (except during performances or Ill use some liner on special occasions). Ive received and CONTINUE to receive wonderful compliments on my eyes and "great mascara". My little secret is Kathleen. BTW - when scanning a credit card she asks if you'd like to add a tip on the card before she adds the total charges. She's NEVER asked me for a tip. I would rather spend my money on my lashes than nail fills ANY day and will CONTINUE to see her as I am so happy with her services and results! read more

I am now super wary of this place. In the past few months, the owner, Kathleen, has messaged me several times asking me to take down my review of Amie. She stated that Amie no longer works for Dermal Dynamics and that her services were not reflective of Dermal Dynamics. I have told Kathleen that I would not take my review down, as I doubt that she asked the people that left positive reviews for Amie to take their review down, and this is all what makes up Yelp ratings. I also asked her to stop messaging me. She sent me another message today and I have now blocked her. While Kathleen has been quite persistent in stating that Amie's work was not reflective of the work that was done at Dermal Dynamics, I am having trouble believing that considering it took her over a year to contact me. Her only concern was to get an all positive Yelp review and not to actually address the issue that is there. Got a full set with Kathleen and was not happy with the results. Aside from the lashes drooping down, some of the lashes were glued to my skin instead of the lashes. On top of that she burned my skin when doing the eyebrow wax. It was burning and glossy, but according to her it was just the wax...and not the raw skin exposed from getting ripped off. I called her later that day to tell her my brow area was still stinging, she didn't even apologize and just said "oh, I should've checked the wax first". Completely unprofessional! read more

Just got back not even 5 minutes ago and had to write this review. A couple weeks ago I decided to get eyelash extensions because it was my 30th and wanted to do something "special" for myself because I have been living and doing everything for my kids the past couple yrs. I've always wanted to get the extension but never did cause it was so pricey and thought I could use the $200 on my kids. My husband insisted on me doing it so I went to a place in Valencia after searching non stop. I went, laid down and 45 mins later I had a couple extensions (literally a couple) didn't look full but did look extended. It was my first time and this place looked like they knew what they were doing so I paid $200 and even tipped well (because i didnt want to look cheap) and walked out knowing that I would never ever do it again for $200. As the weeks passed me friends told me to just look for another place so that I can upkeep my lashes cause they said that it would look really good on me if it was done right. I did more research and after going on google and yelp -dermal dynamics was rated the highest and after reading the reviews I decided to try it out. Knowing that if this place didn't work that I would be fine with it cause I could spend the funds on my kids instead. I called and Kathleen was so personable and I was actually really excited to go see her and see the work she does and compare it to the other place I had gone too. I finally went in today and she was so kind and someone I wouldn't mind visiting every couple weeks to do any service she can offer cause she is naturally such a sweet person! Anyway, the first thing she asked is what i wanted (the other place didnt ask at all). I told her that this is my 2nd time so i needed her to do her magic and do what she thought would be best for me. she started working and I started snoring!! The ambience is so peaceful and the scent made me feel so calm. I wake up some time later and she's done! She asked if I wanted to do my eye brows and God knows I needed some sprucing up so she did it and I am soooo glad she did! She handed me the mirror and omg!!! I loved it!!! I loved my lashes and couldn't believe how it turned out cause it was completely 100% fuller than the first time and it looked natural! Also, let me add I wouldn't have mind paying $200 but I am so glad to say that it was only $70! She gave me 20% off because she just move to a new location and she even told me that I could come back and get 20% again for mothers day for any other service. She mentioned something while she was doing my lashes and it made me assured that she does have the best prices. she said "id rather have a lot of clients and charge less than have a few clients and charge a lot." Ive always wanted Eyelash Extensions and we always scared of a hack job or wasting my money on something for my self . However Yesterday i finally did something for myself and got my Eyelashes done with Kathleen , and they look amazing to say the least. Very Natural and noticable, especially since i have very little lashes. I wanted something everyday for my busy working mommy schedule and got just that.
