The front desk receptionist and medical assistant (I forgot her name) were cool, but the PA (Paris Davis) was not. She essentially called my hair "dirty" because I don't always wash it as often as she'd recommend, and told me to "Google it" when I asked for details about a type of shampoo she was recommending. It was super odd, especially coming from a Black woman; she should know the problematic nature of insinuating that another Black woman is "dirty" for not washing her hair weekly. There are much kinder ways to explain things when you're trying to be helpful rather than egocentric. Overall, Paris's tone was condescending and I felt like she was annoyed by my clarifying questions. I am not interested in seeing any provider who can't treat patients with empathy, kindness, and curiosity; I got none of that from her. The medical assistant was much kinder and provided me with some recommendations for the shampoo I was asking about. I wouldn't recommend this place if you're considering going to see Paris, and I certainly am not going back. What a disappointment.

During one of my routine visits, they detected a melanoma at an early stage, allowing it to be taken care of successfully. I am grateful for their thoroughness and professionalism. One thing that has especially impressed me is the consistency of the care. When my longtime dermatologist, Dr. Byrne, went on leave, I was naturally a little concerned about seeing someone new. But when Dr. Holmes came in, she was every bit as professional, friendly, knowledgeable, and thorough as Dr. Byrne. The entire staff deserves recognition. From the receptionists to the medical assistants to the physicians, everyone is welcoming, courteous, and genuinely caring. The office is spotless, well organized, and runs efficiently. It is not often you can say that a visit to the dermatologist is enjoyable, but that is exactly how I feel about Ringpfeil Advanced Dermatology. If you are looking for outstanding dermatologic care, I highly recommend them.

Another patient was playing political speech on speakerphone, and a second patient responded by clapping and cheering. I approached the front desk to flag the situation, but the staff member deferred to the office manager, who took no action. When I brought it up with the doctor, his response was equally dismissive. When I asked him if he supported this behavior, he said he saw no issue in allowing someone to listen to whatever they want on their device (without headphones...). When I also pressed on if he supported the person (giving the speech in the recoding being played), he told me he doesn't discuss politics because "this is a place of business" -- which is PRECISELY the POINT. If the office holds that standard, it should be applied consistently, including when patients are creating a politically charged atmosphere that makes others uncomfortable in a small space like the waiting room. A medical office should be a neutral, welcoming space for ALL patients. The failure of staff and the physician to address disruptive behavior in the waiting room reflects poorly on this practice's commitment to patient comfort and professionalism. I hope they revisit their policies around maintaining a respectful environment. And to be honest, as a woman, I do not feel safe or respected at this practice. Not only were 2 men allowed to behave this way in the waiting room, but what was to be my exam appt (skin check), was a MALE DR AND MALE ASSISTANT. No female present in the room with me. I went to this practice today for a follow up procedure from a previous doctor. I was scheduled with Dr. Sonya Lee. I arrived, checked in, and filled out paperwork, then was taken back to undress and wait for the doctor to come in. When she arrived, my first impression was certainly not a warm and fuzzy one. She was unfriendly, abrupt, and even seemed annoyed or inconvenienced when I was explaining my medical history and current concerns. It was uncomfortable, but I figured not everyone is naturally welcoming or comforting. It was what ensued during and after my in office procedure that assured me this was much worse than poor bedside manor. As we began my procedure, I mentioned to Dr. Lee that I wasn't good with GYN "stuff" as in very sensitive to pain and/or discomfort in that area. This was just a heads up in hopes that she would have some empathy and maybe take things a little slower or with extra care, and her response was "well yea this isn't fun for me either". Great. So my sense of her being annoyed or inconvenienced at the beginning of my appointment was confirmed. She proceeded on with the procedure which was just flat out rough and fast - beyond unpleasant. I asked her at some point if it was almost done and she said it would be. The last few seconds were the worst, it was as if she was purposely being erratic! Zero concern or consideration for me, my body, or my sensitivities. Once she was done, I mentioned that the procedure was done a little fast and roughly. She was clearly offended and said she didn't know what to tell me and wasn't sure how they do it at other places, but that's how they do it at GSP. Then she says "well I guess I'll text you with the results". Her attitude about it was horrible, dismissive, and cold. I'm sitting there half clothed and the person who's care I'm in has treated me like trash. I couldn't believe what I was experiencing. I expressed to her that I was a little uncomfortable at that point and her response was "yea me too". She then proceeded to go to the computer to take notes while I was sitting there in a very vulnerable position, unable to get up or move. I asked her if I could have please have the room to get dressed and she got up, walked out, and slammed the door behind her. As soon as that door shut I was in tears. I could not believe the treatment that I had just received. I have never in my life experienced something like this. Sure, a medical degree is great for practicing medicine, but so is care, empathy, compassion, a good bedside manor, and a general respect and consideration for others - things Dr. Lee is clearly severely lacking. I will never step foot into the offices of Gynecology Specialists of Philadelphia again and I urge others to consider my situation before they do. There are so many wonderful doctors out there, terrible experiences like mine should just never have to happen. Glad I know now! Looking forward to seeing a new doctor in the future. **Update** Ironically, but not surprisingly, recently received this letter in the mail from GSP stating that I am being let go as a patient for being "rude and disrespectful to the staff." Hard to do anything but laugh at this. First, for the fact that this is what I get in response to leaving a completely honest review of a horrid experience I had - no apology or accountability from this doctor, of course - which is right in line with my experience. And secondly, the fact that they ever thought I was stepping foot back in that office again! Ha. No thanks, a thousand times. I was nothing but pleasant with everyone in that office, including Dr. Lee who was in fact, extremely rude and unprofessional to me. God, they are worse off than I initially thought! Beware.
