The washer didn't appear to fill up with much water or dispense much, if any, detergent. I wash in cold and dry on low, always. After drying for 72 minutes the clothes were almost as wet as when they were put in. I raised the temp and left it in for 40 more minutes. Clothes were dry. When folding them I noticed spots all over our shirts and pants! I now have to pretreat, wash and dry all the laundry again at a different location. The lady next to me had spots on her clothes too! They smelt musty after being dried. I hope I can get the spots out and salvage my laundry.

I called Alterations Plus Wednesday evening 20 minutes before they closed, spoke with Jay (the owner), and he told me if I came in at 8AM the next morning, they could get it done. AND THANK GOD I WENT WITH THEM! Maria, their bridal seamstress, was just amazing. She saw exactly what needed to be done and got it fixed in 24 hours! My dress fits better than I did after the first alterations. Despite this entire experience beginning with complete panic, Jay, Maria, and Megan put my mind at ease. I honestly don't know if they're inexperienced or just have never worked with a Black woman's curves before, but not one, not two, but three of my dresses were completely botched. After the first round of alterations, the owner tried to gaslight me, saying they had only adjusted the strap for my burgundy dress (which was never the main issue). I initially asked for the sides to be taken in because the bust area was too big, but somehow, that got lost in translation. So I paid AGAIN, for all to be fixed and what I got back was even worse. Everything felt rushed, uneven, and downright sloppy. I bawled my eyes out because these dresses were meant for my birthday trip. The white dress? It was the most horrendous one, imagine the outline of Sarah Baartman on a modern-day garment. That's how distorted the shape was. She has always been friendly, patient, and extremely helpful. On Wednesday 8/28/24 another woman was working. She was minimally helpful, never leaving the front desk to assist, told me I used too much soap AFTER I had made that determination myself, and did not come across as terribly friendly. (When I told her I could not see the top of the machine to clearly see where the detergent went, her response was, "I'm shorter than you." Why yes, she was shorter, but a stool would have been helpful. After struggling I notice one at the end of the row of machines. Now let's discuss the condition of the facility. It appeared dark, though the photo I took clearly showed lights were on. The mural on the side wall was cute. Only one ceiling fan, with blades drooping, was spinning, the sole portable fan was directed at the employee at the front desk, and there were so many bags of laundry awaiting pick up they extended 6-8 feet from the front windows toward the machines. There were no benches or chairs to sit at. I waited in my car with the window open as it was more comfortable than inside. The only instructions for machine operation were what appeared in the LED window or small labels on each machine. They did not cover detergent or fabric soften instructions, rather focusing on collecting money and choosing your cycle specifications. I had recently used a facility while on vacation that had a large sign on the wall explaining step by step use with diagrams. Yes, it seems excessive, but it certainly made things perfectly clear. In summary, I missed Linda and there is much opportunity to improve the physical location.
